About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 2-13)

'A Little Bit of Heaven' is a beautiful secluded vacation home nestled in the Smoky Mountains close to gem mining, The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, wonderful waterfalls, and antiquing.

This home has a view from the deck that will take your breath away in the day and leave you awe struck at night. The distant lights of the town of Franklin can be enjoyed every evening from the deck. This property has wonderful country roads to enjoy a hike after dinner yet is close and easy to get to.

We built this home with vacation in mind. Lots of room for the whole gang. Enough parking for everyone. Although there is plenty to do in the surrounding area, you can spend your whole vacation and never leave the mountain.

There is entertainment for the whole family. Pool table and ping pong. Dinner on the deck is one of our favorite activities. Come find out what the Great Smokey Mountains are famous for!

About The Owner

A not quite retired couple who truly believe that the mountains of Western North Carolina is God's country

Why The Owner chose Smoky Mountains

In the late 70's we helped our parents build their first NC Mountain home in Robinsville. After my father-in-law passed away we encouraged Mom to sell the Robinsiville home. It only took us a few years to realize how much we missed the beautiful NC Mountains. We decided that we were always taking day trips from remote Robinsville to Franklin where it seemed everything was happening. It only made sense to build the next house in the beautiful quaint town of Franklin. We took the plans from the original house and expanded it and made it a true NC home. We designed it to accommodate our own family reunions. There is plenty of space for the whole gang and lots to do right at the house or in the surrounding area. Our view will knock your socks off and secluded enough that you feel like you are the only ones on the mountain. We never intended to rent our home so this home is a little nicer than most, with Corian counter tops and upgraded appliances. We decided to share it with others as it was a shame to not have it used until we can be up there full time.

What makes this house unique

Our favorite activities at our 'Little Bit of Heaven' is: Eating meals out on the deck and watching the sun set. Taking walks after dinner on the quiet road in front of the house.

I love challenging what ever guests or family to a game of pool in the evening. I must say my personal favorite is to wait until everyone has gone to bed and sit out on the deck and watch the lights of the town of Franklin. It is so quiet and the solitude is indescribable!!

We also like going to 'Picking on the Square' on Saturday nights in Franklin. We love going white water rafting on the Nantahala. Our goal is to learn to Fly Fish in the local streams. We also like finding new places to hike and my personal favorite is to photograph all the cool waterfalls in the area.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Dear Mike and Nancy,

Thank you very much for opening your Smokey Mountain home to our family. It truly is a little bit of Heaven! We loved it.... the view, the location, rooms & their décor, and the gameroom, as well.

We had a blast too! Thank you for all of your advice and suggestions. We found about 60 carats in sapphires and rubies! The Boiler Room and Fun Factory also huge hits with the kids!

We really hope to return someday!

Thank you again,

Cherilyn

P.S. We loved the hummingbirds!!

One mad sick chill!

  • 5 of 5

These are the words of our teenage sons and I think it means they really, really liked the house. We were 10 people (2 adults and 8 kids ranging in age from 20 mos to 17 years) and we never felt crowded or cramped. We booked this property for two reasons: It had a ping pong table AND a pool table, not to mention books, dvds, games, etc. so there was plenty to do if the weather wasn't good. Secondly there were waterfalls "within minutes" of the house. This is true as there was a waterfall inside the gates of the property and our kids had a blast climbing up and down the rocks inside the stream and up the falls.

In addition to the property itself, there was plenty to do within an hours' drive. We explored many waterfalls and parks all under an hour away and we also enjoyed the roller rink & bowling alley less than 10 min. away. We're not a shopping family but there were lots of cute shopping places all over.

The kids are already asking us to book again for next summer as they would love to go back!

Truely a Little Bit of Heaven!!!!

  • 5 of 5

A lovely home with an AWESOME VIEW!!! Love the mountains when the mist comes in!!

Our 19 year old daughter LOVED the top floor! My husband and daughter enjoyed the pool table and ping pong...although both could use some work.

Would definitely stay again.

Nancy was a dream to work with!

Owner's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed our home. Yes, Ashville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge are all within an hours drive. Franklin activities (ruby mining, great restaurants, "Picking on the Square", downtown Franklin, museums and float trips are all only 15 minutes away. And that is from the house, not once you get to a main road. You are correct, we have the perfect location. I hope you will come visit us again. Nancy

An amazing experience!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at 'A Little Bit of Heaven' and that is exactly what it was. It was amazing. The pictures of the view do not do it justice. And if you're coming to visit during the winter and happen to get snow like we did, it is magical. In regards to the house, it was perfect and kept our family warm and entertained. The beds were warm and snug, and the rooms in general spacious. Even the bathrooms had heaters! The kitchen was we equipped and instructions to get around town to see the sites. All in all it was a terrific experience and the owner was always very easy to reach if we had any questions. She didn't miss a beat, the house was beyond prepared. I recommend this to anyone who is looking for that mountain getaway experience.
