About the property

2 King Bedrooms, 2 Full Baths--Great Porch, Heated Pool/Spa,Streetcar,Festivals!

Come away to New Orleans and stay at the Porch House~~~

When you arrive, you'll step up the reclaimed brick staircase that leads up to our ipe' decked porch, which stretches lazily across the front of our home, framed by its ornate wrought iron railing. All four doors on the front of the house open up to the porch and its view of our happy neighborhood with its quiet, but busy vibe. Wrought iron bouncy chairs and a round glass table are a great spot to relax and while away the day on the front porch~~~

sip your coffee in the morning, watching folks gather for breakfast across the street and yoga next door. In the evenings enjoy "porchtails " as the sun sets and evening begins.

Watch the hours slip by, people watching and beverage sipping....stay home and grill out on the front porch, or wander to the local haunts in the neighborhood.

Inside is a cool mix of modern and classic furnishings and finishes. We left many of the structural elements from the house raising as a part of the decor and visual history of the space.

The living room has a large, comfy leather sofa and boasts a 100" drop down movie screen, a 1080p projector and a quality sound system.

The kitchen is ready to cook! We have supplied everything you might need---high end appliances, dishes and utensils, pots and pans, plus a few more things for good measure----Kitchen Aid toaster oven, Ninja Ultima Blender, Keurig coffee maker, burr coffee grinder, French press.....

Each of the two spacious bedrooms has its own, distinct personality. Their common traits are king size beds with memory foam toppers, loads of fluffy pillows and blankets, as well as 55" smart TVs. The larger bedroom also has a sitting area and its own stereo to enjoy.

There are two full bathrooms. The front bath has a deep tub for soaking and a generous shower head to wash away the cares of the day. Fluffy robes and towels! Private laundry room in the rear of the bathroom, equipped with stacked washer and dryer, soap and such, iron and ironing board. The second bath is en suite in the larger bedroom. A rainshower shower head is all you need to know you're on vacation -----and fluffy robes and towels!!

Good to note, we have an in-wall safe---so your valuables can feel "safe" on vacation!

Another way to know you're on vacation is when you step out the door to enjoy your private swim spa/endless pool. Swim against the current and work off all that delicious New Orleans food or go with the flow and float away any stresses from the day~~~

Although smoking and vaping are not allowed inside the house, we have space on the porch for those who choose to imbibe.

Whether you're coming to New Orleans to enjoy the sights, the nightlife, the history or just a quiet getaway, the Porch House is waiting for you.

About brady and doody

We are native New Orleaneans with a passion for our city and a zest for life.

We built our home with the intention of sharing it with others, that they may understand the true hospitality and generous spirit of our hometown.

We live and work on site---we're self employed and our employers are always changing our job description!

Our wedding vows included the phrase," I promise that it will never be boring". In more than 12 years, it hasn't been ;)

Why brady and doody chose Mid-City

Our home is located in the heart of New Orleans in the mid city neighborhood. We're 1/2 block from the Canal St. streetcar, near the Carrollton Ave. intersection. Being in mid city gives you easy access to uptown, downtown and the French Quarter, as well as City Park, Bayou St. John and the Fairgrounds where Jazz Fest is held. Actually, it's a great place to be for Mardi Gras, French Quarter Fest, Jazz Fest, Bayou Boogaloo, VooDoo Fest----- all the fests are convenient when you're in mid city! Bottom line is, you can get anywhere in the city in 15 minutes or less --- mid city is awesome!

Mandina's restaurant and Fullblast Brunch are just out the door---so many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance! Blue Dot donut shop, Brocato's icecream and Smoothie King are right down the street.

You can walk to Walgreen's and Rouse's grocery store just a few short blocks away.

We even have a yoga studio in stretching distance!

From sipping margaritas outside at Juan's Flying Burrito to grabbing a coffee at Monkey Monkey to renting a bicycle for two with a surrey on top in City Park or walking through the old cemeteries, there are so many awesome things to do in our neighborhood!

What makes this house unique

We're 1/2 block from the Canal St. streetcar, near the Carrollton Ave. intersection.

Amazing!!!

  • 5 of 5

The home was wonderful! Everything was perfect, so much charm and character. The beds were so comfortable, which is so important for me when.traveling. Brady and Doody were incredible host and what I am sure now will be new friends to visit next time I travel to New Orleans! You can not go wrong with this place! Great food within walking distance, close enough to all the activities using the trolley but quiet enough when it's the to rest you can enjoy the quiet. I could not have asked for a better place to stay or better host! Wish I could give 10 stars!!!

We loved this VRBO. A couple friends and I were in NOLA for Jazz Fest and I'm so glad we found this property. Great location, incredible house, complete with surround sound, Netflix, a pool, etc.

I highly recommend staying here!!!

Amazing Nola retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent three nights at the porch house with another couple. We cannot say enough about how great of a house this is. Not a single detail has been overlooked and you will be smitten the moment you walk through the door. The kitchen and bathrooms are fully stocked with everything you need (and more!) and the beds are extremely comfortable. Brady’s handiwork and Doody’s decorative taste make this house a treasure. The location was also fantastic. Close enough to everything that it was convenient but far enough out so you could catch a break from all the craziness that New Orleans has to offer. I’m sure this was not our last trip to New Orleans and this will definitely be the only place we stay on our future trips.

One final tip: Be sure to ask about the history of the house. What Brady and Doody did is truly amazing!!

Super cool, comfortable house with a killer kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and living room!

  • 5 of 5

I loved staying here! It was perfect for us! It's close to everything, but far enough away to be quiet. We could take the trolley for $1.25 or a quick lyft to town.

We have family close to New Orleans, so this was such a perfect spot to get together before going out. We made the best memories and I'll be staying here again next time!

The owners were awesome as well!

Forever Lasting Memories

  • 5 of 5

From the minute we arrived at the airport we knew this trip would be unforgettable. The energy in New Orleans is off the charts. The weather could not have been better and people we chatted with and met throughout our stay could not have been more genuine, thoughtful, and kind. Brady and Doody's place made us feel like we were at home. The beds were like sleeping on clouds. The house layout is perfect for 4 people with plenty of room to just hang out after days of lots of walking and seeing the sights. The kitchen is complete with every appliance you would need and more. I love the options of morning coffee and tea. The bathrooms are fully stocked with soaps, shampoos, and lotions. A must try even if you brought you own. The "over the top" hospitality provided by Doody was the icing on the cake. She was available every time we had questions and/or needed recommendations. Such as...best beignets at Morning Call, which was a nice walk through City Park. Neighborhood bar with a live band and the most friendly people you would ever meet, Maple Leaf on Oak Street. To die for fried chicken at Jacqes-Imo's and the list goes on. The property location is out of the busiest section of the city yet close enough to walk to get groceries, dinner, or just a cocktail. The trolly is just outside and down the block. 10 minutes ride to the French Quarters, aquarium, Bourbon Street and much more. We truly believe our trip would have been much different if it weren't for Doody. Her personality and energy makes me smile every time I think about it. You two ROCK!!!! We will for sure be back and in the mean time be sure to let everyone we know to consider booking this property in MidCity. THANKS again!! Terry, Lynne, Taylor and Teika

This house was amazing!

  • 5 of 5

This house is in the perfect location. Walk about half a block and you are at the street car. Then about a 15 minute ride to the French Quarter. The house is well appointed especially for two couples. It was very clean, well organized, and comfortable. No detail has been left undone. Brady was great to deal with! We would definitely stay again!

Mid city is a classic New Orleans neighborhood with a combination of old homes, corner restaurants and bars, a little bit of commerce and a whole lot of character.

We're 1/2 block from the Canal St. streetcar, near the Carrollton Ave. intersection. Hop on and head towards the river, the French Quarter or the Superdome or the Marigny. The streetcar going in the opposite direction ( towards the lake) can take you to check out the cemeteries or to City Park, where you can to go to NOMA or get some coffee and beignets at Morning Call or just stroll through the sculpture garden. Being in mid city gives you easy access to uptown, downtown and the French Quarter, as well as City Park, Bayou St. John and the Fairgrounds where Jazz Fest is held.
