Like I said, it was a great rental. Nice people, nice location.
A nice place to get away that is in walking distance from town and biking distance to the trail
We enjoyed our time here and the hosts were great
Thank you, Bob! We would love to have y’all back anytime!
Fantastic opportunity; gracious hosts
I'm a bit late getting this posted, but I definitely wanted to review this experience for others. First, the generosity and kindness of the Goodpasture family was refreshing. They were communicative and warm; offering help with the smallest of things. They weren't even rattled when we brought 10 middle school wrestlers for a local competition!
Second, their pride of ownership shows and the grounds were amazing. Turns out the Goodpasture Family has owned the property for generations - if you catch Frank, its worht the time to hear about it. The home was perfect for us - packed with history and homey comfort. I love a house with old bones and solid craftsmanship - the dovetails were spot on.
Third, proximity to everything in the Abingdon area (and Bristol for that matter) was perfect! It's an oasis where you feel like you are deep in the country, but you can literally walk to the store.
We will be back if they will have us - everyone enjoyed the rental, thank you to the Goodpasture Family for making it so memorable!
Thank you so much for the review. We enjoyed having your "team" and would be happy to host you again anytime! Take care!
Worked well for our large family and VA Creeper Trail
Quiet, dog-friendly, beautiful setting and perfectly located at the Abingdon end of the VA Creeper Trail. The house worked well for seven adults and their dogs. I especially liked that we enjoyed preparing and eating family meals without dining out. I also liked that we biked the entire 34 mile trail that ended at this property’s driveway. It was perfect for us.
The only negatives are that the house is old, with slow (but adequate) plumbing.
Enjoyed our stay!
We traveled to the area for a race on the Virginia Creeper Trail. We brought with us our two children, our parents and our well behaved Australian Shepherd. It was a great space with plenty of room for all of us to fit comfortably. The large yard was a godsend for our children and shepherd's entertainment. The Goodpasture family was very hospitable and accomodated our frequent traffic in and out for the race. We will certainly consider staying again if in the area.
We live in an older farmhouse ourselves so we greatly appreciated the history, functionality and charm of all it's unique characteristics.
Thank you so much for the feedback, and for choosing our place! It was our pleasure hosting your family! Please come back anytime.
Great Location and Beautiful Property
Location was perfect! We rode the Virgina Creeper Trail and then went to Bristol Caverns (20 min Drive).
The cottage was clean.
