About this property

Laid-back luxury in Newport Pembrokeshire

Seaborne offers laid-back luxury in well-equipped and comfortable accommodation.

Please note, depending on sleeping/bed arrangements, there may be extra charges to be paid - please read our details carefully, and for further details please see: www.seabornehouse.com

Guests have full exclusive access to the 5 bedroom house (depending on number of guests, bedrooms rented and sleeping arrangements) when renting Seaborne House in its entirety, which consists of three double bedrooms, one twin bedroom, one bunk bedroom, one family bathroom, two ensuite bathrooms (to the main bedroom on the first floor and to the attic rooms on the second floor) as well as the wet room on the ground floor. Seaborne House can sleep up to 10 + 2 small children (in a cot and a separate camp bed) in total - great for friends' get-togethers or large family holidays.

Alternatively, stay in Seaborne House from minimum 2 people for 2 nights, and have the whole of the house facilities plus a large first floor bedroom with its own ensuite shower room to yourselves. The other bedrooms will not be available (but can be rented from a per person rate per night as extra, so you can sleep between 2 - 10+ guests in total if you wish to travel with more than 2 people). As a couple, you will still have all your own private facilities in the house as we do not rent other bedrooms out to third parties at the same time - just imagine, all that space just to yourselves! Add other guests at a nightly rate if you wish to bring friends or family, but remember, we count 2 people in one room, so if you wish to have single guests in their own room your nightly price may have to be adjusted.

Enter through the front door and into the spacious tiled hallway with plenty of space for coats and shoes. A warm and cosy sitting room with a log burning stove is perfect for warming up after a long day at sea, at the beach, walking the coastal path or exploring Carningli or the Gwaun valley. The large open-plan kitchen is a great place for entertaining and cooking, with double bi-fold doors that open out onto the sunny patio (great for barbecues and alfresco dining) and fully enclosed and private garden.

The ground floor also has a great full-sized wet room with an overhead, over-sized shower, hand-held shower spray (great for wet dogs and small sandy kids), a loo, basin and heated hanging spaces for wet-suits and beachwear. The utility room is next door - perfect for a beach cleanup.

There is a modern kitchen, well-equipped for fine cuisine: large Fisher Peykal fridge-freezer, Rangemaster gas 6 burner hob, double electric oven, Miele dishwasher, Nutri-bullet blender and Magimix, Gaggenau microwave and coffee machine.

Off the kitchen is a utility room with Miele washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board, extra sink, fire blanket, first aid kit and overhead hanging rack.

The living room has a wood burning stove (basket of logs, kindling, firelighters can be provided in winter months) and a large Ultra HD Smart TV with internet access. There is a good selection of board games, and three cosy sofas to stretch out on.

There is high-speed optic fibre Wifi available throughout the house with TP link range extenders to ensure full coverage. There is good mobile phone network coverage, especially at the rear and top of the house.

There is a football table and garden games such as swing-ball tennis for guests’ use.

There is a Sonos Alexa-enabled speaker in the kitchen and one in the sitting room for Sonos or Spotify users.

If you need to work whilst on holiday, there’s a small laptop desk with wireless printer for your convenience.

Layout

Seaborne is a 200-year-old sea captain's cottage which has been refurbished to a high standard, set in the heart of this popular seaside town. There's a large sitting room, then a kitchen/breakfast room leading out to a patio, and terraced garden behind, with the hot tub situated at the top of the garden overlooking the surrounding area. There are 4 double/twin bedrooms and 1 smaller bedroom with bunk beds. The main bedroom has an ensuite shower room and there are 3 other bathrooms

Sleeping Arrangements

3 double (king-sized) bedrooms, one twin room, one bunk bed room, plus 1 camp bed for kids (extra) and 1 travel cot for babies (extra)

Local Area

Seaborne House is a Grade II, well-appointed, spacious house set in a quiet street behind the main road in Newport, within a few minutes’ walk of the excellent cafes, shops and health food shop in the centre of Newport, in the Pembrokeshire National Park. The property, built in the 1820s but recently renovated, enjoys good views of Newport Bay and the dramatic Pembrokeshire coastline from its top floor and rear south-facing garden. Parrog beach is about 10 minutes walk and the slopes of Carningli mountain lie a few minutes' walk up a scenic country lane near the house. It’s perfect for families, friends and adventurers alike!

Nestled between the Preseli mountains and the coast, Newport provides the perfect base for exploring all that Pembrokeshire has to offer. Pembrokeshire was voted the #2 Coastal Destination in the world in 2010 by National Geographic and Newport is right in the middle of stunning scenery and wildlife.

Getting there

What3Words: ///changing.twisting.clicker

When driving: arrive in Newport and turn south up the High Street, 'Market Street'. You will see the castle up ahead of you on the hill. Once at the top of Market Street turn right down the narrow one-way street which may be marked Upper Bridge Street at the top. This leads down into Upper West Street.

You will see the Bethlehem Chapel on your right and Mill Lane directly opposite on your left. It's wise to grab a parking space off the double yellow lines as soon as you see one. Alternatively, you can tuck yourself right in by the bay window at Seaborne and unpack for up to 20 minutes. Seaborne is the red house slightly past the Chapel diagonally opposite it on the left.

There are two parking permits on the noticeboard in the hall. One is for the Long Street car park. You will find Long Street directly opposite Market Street. The other permit is for the beach car park. Please return these once you have finished with them.

There is a good, if irregular, train service from London Paddington direct to Fishguard which takes approximately 5 hours. There are good bus, taxi and road links to Carmarthen, Cardiff, Bristol and beyond. Traffic can be heavy on the M4 and M48, A48 at peak times so it can be easier to leave London in the morning to miss this (if possible). We normally count on the car journey times being 2 hours from Cardiff.

Accessibility

Not suitable for wheel chair users or people with limited mobility, due to stairs leading up to bedrooms.

About the host

Host profile image
We live in Kent but have holidayed in Pembrokeshire for the past 30 years. My husband’s grandfather came from St Dogmaels.

Why they chose this property

We love the quiet location of Seaborne House. It’s close enough to both the shops and the beach, Parrog and Newport Sands to be within walking distance, but it’s off the beaten track, especially avoiding those late night revellers walking back from the pub! We have a lovely large south facing garden and have designed the house to suit a large family with children, or two family groups with kids, and a dog or two. Beach trips, cycling and hiking trips are all made easy with our outdoor tap plus the wet room you can walk into directly off the patio. We have a great outdoor dining and seating area so you can entertain friends, family and other guests, plus good cooking and socialising space and facilities.

What makes this property unique

Heated hot tub in garden (Optional)
Seating for 10+ throughout sitting, dining and patio areas
Quality linen and towels, and soft furnishings provided
Well-stocked kitchen inventory
Ensuite bath and shower rooms
Eco-friendly renovation and anti-allergy furnishings provide a healthy and comfortable surroundings
