This 400-year-old holiday cottage, just yards from quaint shops and tea rooms, a paradise for walkers and cyclists.. Ground Floor:

Kitchen/dining room: Electric Cooker, Microwave, Fridge/Freezer, Dishwasher, Washer Dryer

Separate Toilet.

First Floor:

Bedroom 1: Double (4ft 6in) Bed

Bedroom 2: 2 x Single (3ft) Beds

Bathroom: Bath With Shower Over, Toilet. Gas central heating, gas, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Initial fuel for multi-fuel burner included. Travel cot and highchair. . Small courtyard with garden furniture and BBQ. On road parking. Please note: There is 1 step in the courtyard. . Dating back 400 years, this beautiful period stone holiday cottage is located in the heart of Eyam, one of the Peak District’s most popular historic and best preserved villages. It has been beautifully resorted retaining charming period features, with beamed ceilings and a beautiful Derbyshire stone fireplace, complete with multi-fuel stove. A simply fascinating base, located within yards from quaint local and independently run shops, tea rooms and the famous village pub, which is reputed to be one of the most haunted buildings in Derbyshire. The surrounding area offers inspiring and varied scenery, with walking and cycling in the beautiful Hope Valley countryside, and stunning views across the Derwent Valley. Family attractions within easy reach such as the magnificent historic houses of Eyam Hall, located in the centre of the village, Chatsworth Estate, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall and Bolsover Castle. The bustling market town of Bakewell, famous for its tarts and puddings, and the ever popular spa town of Buxton with its opera house and diverse architecture can be reached within 30 minutes. Matlock Bath, also known as ’Little Switzerland’, with its cable car rides and other family attractions nearby. For those seeking an adrenalin rush, Alton Towers can be reached within an hour. Other local villages include Tideswell, with its remarkable church known as the ‘Cathedral of the Peak’, and Hathersage, home to one of the few remaining open air swimming pools, and famous for its associations with both Robin Hood and the Eyre family. Grindleford and Hathersage have train links to both Sheffield and Manchester city centre, and Eyam is well served with regular bus services from Sheffield, Buxton and Chesterfield. Shop 150 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful cottage.

We had a lovely stay in this beautiful cottage. After a long drive we arrived to find a warm inviting cottage that was just lovely. Everything was provided and once the log burner was lite it was pure relaxation.The village was easy to walk around whilst soaking up the history. Afterwards stopping off for tea and cake in the lovely tea room opposite the cottage.We will be back in the summer just so we can sit outside and watch the world go by. A great stay overall and a dream of a cottage to stay in.

This is one of the best equipped cottages that we have stayed in. The village is lovely and friendly and even storm Daragh didn’t ruin our weekend. We just lit the fire and enjoyed the beautifully presented cottage. The only thing that would have made the break better would be to stay for longer

Sorry about the delay in responding earlier to your email. We had the most fantastic holiday in the Peak District and Eyam was an ideal place to stay. The cottage we had " The Causeway" was everything we could have hoped for. An added bonus was the patio was large enough for our family who were also staying in cottages nearby,to enjoy time together at a social distance. We had a lovely break with our toddler and newborn. The cottage was perfect with lots of space downstairs. The village was really interesting and the cafes and pub great. Good location for exploring the Peak District. Would love to return.

Great property

The property is excellent, well appointed and comfortable. It was great to arrive to a welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. We were in Eyam for a family gathering and this cottage was conveniently located. Our one suggestion would be to provide a duplicate set of keys in the cottage. We would happily return to this cottage on a future gathering.

Lovely house.

Lovely house. Has everything you need. Very well thought out in terms of furnishings and everything you need in the kitchen. Only criticism is that TV reception is pretty patchy. But there is a good selection of DVDs and there is WiFi. Lovely location in Eyam village which is an excellent base for the Peak District. So much to do on your doorstep. Highly recommend.

We had a super holiday recently in The Causeway. It's a gorgeous, well equipped cottage in a super location. Guests should be aware that you can't control the central heating yourself, it is controlled remotely by the owners. They are very responsive when you contact them but not a situation I have come across before.

We had a great holiday at The Causeway.

We had a great holiday at The Causeway. Fantastic location in a pretty and interesting village. Good walks from the doorstep. The cottage was small but perfectly formed, and well equipped and beautifully decorated. The courtyard at the front (no back garden) was a sun trap so great for enjoying a sunny morning or evening, and inside the stone cottage was very cool in the heat. The sofa was a tad uncomfortable. The tea rooms opposite was fantastic. Slightly disappointed that the local pub did not serve evening food. Also the bathroom had no window and all the towels smelt of damp - even after I washed them. But that is a minor point. I would thoroughly recommend this for couples or a couple with one friend / child. Probably a bit too small for 4 adults or even 2 adults and 2 children.

Lovely clean cottage. Only downside you can’t control the heating. The owner had said we could ring but we’d have been ringing too often to get it to the temperature we wanted. Other than that it was all perfect.

The Causeway is a charming cottage in an ideal location for exploring Derbyshire. It is well equipped and very cosy. We were able to park outside the cottage but there is no designated parking bay, so this could be a problem in summer months. There are shops where basic provisions can be bought and the pub serves good food at a reasonable price. The local tea room is really good too.
