Shafto cottage was comfy and had everything I needed for a week's holiday. Perfectly located in Seahouses. The only criticism is the downstairs smelt unpleasant when I arrived. With lots of windows open whenever I was in, it did improve during the week.

The local streets are full of fantastic shops and places to eat, the surrounding area is interesting and beautiful to visit, and the people are really friendly .

Decor is very dated in most of the cottage, but it is comfortable, well-equipped and we warmed to it over our stay and found it quaint and cosy. Probably worth noting that there is only a shower and no bath. My partner was also concerned about the lack of WiFi, however she found it was a 'hot-spot' (whatever that is) so no complaints. The area is ideal as a base to explore up and down the coast and inland, with boat trips and beautiful walks - the harbour, pubs, restaurants etc. are literally on your doorstep. We had no trouble parking, but larger cars would require more care. If you want somewhere clean and convenient and value for money this is for you, but do not expect modern and chic! Great cottage in a fab location. Very comfortable and only a few minutes walk to all the amenities. Only slight down point is the lack of WiFi which causes problems when you have kids. So lucky to have found this accommodation, 1 minute walk to the harbour, 5 minutes walk into town, shops, cafes and beautiful fish and chip shop! Great value for money, a few tweaks would take it from a 9 to a 10. Car parking a little tight but ok if everyone parks considerately. Plenty of rock pools for the kids on the harbour, good beaches locally, co-op in town centre, plenty of cafes and take aways. Great boat trip round the Farne Islands to sea the grey seals. Would definitely return to this accommodation if we visited Seahouses again. Be aware Vodafone signal not good, had to walk to the harbour to get a decent signal. Second time we've stayed at Shafto.

Second time we've stayed at Shafto. Its a lovely cottage in a lovely location near the harbor. If I had to be picky I would say its perhaps due for a bit of updating, the decor is very dated. That said its somewhere clean and comfortable to collapse after a day exploring the local area or a fantastic day on the Farne Islands ( Serenity are excellent!).
