About William Barchet
Originally from Canada, I discovered Ashland in 1992, eventually moving here in 1995 from Maui. My wife is from Seoul, S. Korea. We met here in Ashland while she was co-director of the Institute for Asian Studies and Cultures. We owned/operated Hana Sushi restaurant in Ashland until retiring about 5 years ago. We enjoy playing tennis and walking the mountain trails next to our home.
William Barchet purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2012
Why William Barchet chose Ashland
My home is on one of the best homesites in the valley. The views are amazing, the weather is excellent, it has more privacy than most need, yet it is very convenient to excellent restaurants, entertainment and shopping.
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
The city of Ashland maintains an excellent network of walking/ hiking trails starting just outside my door. The home itself is on one level with plenty of yard space all around. This is highly unusual for "view properties like mine. The bedrooms are separated, which allows more privacy for the guests.

Immaculate home with wonderful view
This is the perfect home for an Ashland getaway! Only minutes from downtown, yet you feel like you're in a mountaintop retreat.
Thanks for the kind words, Bill. It looks like Boise State won! I did record it for you. hope to see you next year!
Above and beyond
Over the years I have stayed in many vacation rentals in Ashland with friends. This was by far the cleanest of all the properties we have stayed. It also was the quietest. Located high on a hill few cars passed by. Because we were on the top of a hill we drove to all shows at the Shakespeare festival. The house also had the best air conditioning I have experienced in a rental vacation home. Definitely not window units. The five days we were there were extremely warm so the air-conditioning was greatly appreciated. There are hiking trails adjacent to the house. Our host Bill was extremely helpful. Hope to stay there again next year.
Thank you for your kind words. Hope to see you again in 2018!
The home was as comfortable as could be
Bill met us upon arrival. He showed us everything and was available if needed. The house was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The bedding and towels were soft and fresh. The kitchen had everything that we needed and there was even a cappuccino machine. The bedrooms were roomy and there was plenty of places, inside and outside, to relax.
Beautiful house exceeded our expectations
The house was lovely. Bill was a helpful and friendly host. The view is stunning, backyard with swing a great place to be, kitchen perfect for gathering. Thanks!
