Newly Renovated 2 BR 2 BA home with Private Backyard, Outdoor Dining & Fire pit~
A brand new renovation, this historic bungalow is minutes from downtown and the airport, but tucked away on a tree lined street in a hot & rapidly gentrifying neighborhood called Woodbine, a local insider secret. Many consider it the "New East Nashville" and the values in this area have doubled over the last couple of years, as the demand for areas close to downtown has exploded. The neighborhood is a mix of vintage homes, and new infill construction and development.
Nashville Music City Roost has been lovingly restored and decorated by the owner--call it relaxed elegance—a cool vibe but never stuffy. It offers such features as original hardwood floors, french doors, custom African Rhino barn wood tile, new bathrooms and an updated vintage kitchen. It is run by owner/operators Marsha and John, who spent years in the Nashville music scene as a songwriter and artist manager respectively. The retro interior represents a throwback to a different time, while embracing the new Nashville as one of the hottest destinations in the country. Call it Urban Cowboy meets West Elm!
When you stay in our cottage and come back home from the action of downtown or seeing the sights of Nashville, you can truly relax in the living room and read, write, work on your computer (with Wi-Fi provided) or watch TV. You can hang out in the dining room right off the open kitchen that is surrounded by a wall of pretty windows and is bright and sunny in the daytime. During your stay don't miss the local art from Nashville and Memphis, and the antiques from all over the USA, that are part of the furnishings of this home. We are stocked w/everything you'll need to make your stay the most comfortable. There are new and vintage iron beds with brand new mattresses & box springs, two sets of sheets, blankets and fully stocked with fresh towels, an iron, ironing board and blow dryer all for your comfort. The kitchen has a full array of coffee, herbal & black teas, coffee maker, creamers, sugar & Stevia. Kitchen is also stocked with plates, cutlery, glasses, wine glasses, napkins, pots and pans & everything else you would need if you want to hang in one evening or gorgeous afternoon, instead of eating out. There is a large lush backyard with a deck, table & chairs for outdoor dining, extra seating & lighting & a fire pit with fire logs provided. There are a great set of plastic dishware in the open shelves in the kitchen if you decide to dine outside.
Use this dwelling place as the home base for your trip with a quick Uber or Lyft ride downtown, or a retreat to unplug if that’s what you need. Relax in the open and comfortable interior spaces, dine outside on the deck under outdoor lights, or sit and sip by the outdoor fire pit. Venture out to the local restaurants in this diverse ethnic food scene, hop downtown or visit the Nashville Zoo.
We are personally committed to making your stay the best. If you need me, I am just a cell phone call or text away, anytime during your stay, and I pride myself on the personal touches and service that will set us apart. We know you have many options in Music City/Nashville, and we want to be at the top of your list each time you visit. We love this home so much, and we sincerely hope you will love it too! ~Marsha

She and her band Tattoo Tribe, were signed to an independent label and toured the east coast. She currently invests in real estate, flips homes and works with buyers and sellers.

Why Marsha Mauney chose Glencliff
This is not your typical short term rental, that smells of plug ins and is furnished from big box discount stores (not that there is anything wrong with that--there is a place for everything)! It was designed and renovated by Marsha and John with their vision. They were committed to keeping as much of the vintage charm as possible, but mixed it with new light fixtures and other features to give it an eclectic flair. The furnishings were hand picked during Marsha's travels up through the mountains of Tennessee and Virginia, and also from her mother's collection, which was inspired by 50 plus years in the Antiques and Fine Art business. You will see a rare Italian bar & stools in the dining room, a Dorothy Draper Lucite magazine rack, primitive painted pieces of furniture and local Tennessee art and paintings.
What makes this House unique
An adorable front porch with comfortable wicker chairs where you can sit and sip your drinks in the evening, or your coffee in the morning. The front bedroom is the Americana room, with handmade quilts, comfy new mattresses and box springs on a Vintage iron bed, a daybed for extra sleeping, a red, white and blue Kilim rug purchased from a Franklin antique store, and a bicycle lamp made by a Nashville artist! The Glamour Room is the other bedroom full of old Hollywood comfort and luxury. The large backyard is private, and has a dining table and chairs for outdoor dining on the rear deck, extra seating, and a fire pit for night time relaxing after long days downtown. Notice the little touches like the window box on the garage made with an old vintage window and the vintage RCA dog bell by the garage door.

Excellent alternative to Convention hotels!
My colleagues and I were in town for the National SHAPE (Society of Health and Physical Educators) Convention March 20-24 and were looking for an alternative to the large - very expensive - downtown hotels. We were so lucky to find such a sweet place--> The Music City Roost! It was just like described and in a nice, quiet neighborhood. It was clean, inviting , nicely decorated, had comfortable beds and fluffy towels and was fully stocked with all essentials. In addition to restaurant recommendations, coffee and teas, Marsh left us some yummy local goodies. Nice touch. We traveled downtown both by interstate and city roads-easy and no problem either way but like others have mentioned, it's best to avoid the interstate during rush hours. We drove into the city and the parking decks were expensive but we found an open, unpaved lot across the street from the Music City Convention center for $10/day. The Roost was our quiet retreat after each long, busy day. We were so thankful to have such a wonderful place to come home to! Can't wait to come back again! Thank you Marsha :)
Thank YOU for being such wonderful guests! Please come back to The Roost anytime ~Marsha
You won't be sorry.
Entering the Music City Roost got these two first time Nashville visitors into the spirit. Wonderful decor. Large eat in kitchen to gather. Well equipped. Comfortable beds. Too cold for outside deck and yard but summer visitors will enjoy. Owners thoughtful.
Cute and Cosy Home
My wife and I stayed 4 days in this home to experience the live music of Nashville. The house was very clean and quaintly decorated. We only used the main bedroom but found the bed very comfortable. We used the Firepit in the back yard the first night to relax before hitting Nashville hard the next day. If you are not a experienced freeway driver I would suggest staying off the freeways as much as possible as they are very tight. There is an easy 10-15 min drive to the heart of downtown not using the freeways. Avoid rush hour traffic which is 7-9 am and 3-6:30 pm We parked all day for $ 12.00 at the library SP parking lot on 6th which is right next to the Ryan Theatre and in easy walking distance to everyplace downtown. Live music starts at 3 pm in all the bars. This house was a great place to relax after a long day downtown. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Nashville. Thank You Marsha
Thank you so much for the lovely review! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay at The Roost. We would love to have you back anytime. Happy Holidays! ~Marsha in Nashville
Great Character & Quiet Neighbourhood
House was so cute and we loved all the little extras supplied by owners. Location worked out well once we understood the route to downtown which is where we spent most of our time. Please don’t Google demographic stats on the neighbourhood as this does not accurately reflect the location. The back yard is amazing and we even struck up a fire and cooked a steak meal on open flame with perfectly fitting grill for the fire pit. What a great 4 days.
It was Great! The owner was quick to respond and very helpfull and very nice!
The house was Great! So neat! Next trip to Nashville, this will be the place I want to come back to.
Thank you so much Tina! You were a lovely guest, and are welcome to come back and stay anytime! ~Marsha
Adorable cozy home with real Nashville charm
We had a great time at the Music City Roost. The host has great style, a mixture of modern and traditional Southern. All the amenities provided. A super sunny kitchen and a great backyard with fire pit. It was a great jumping off point to see all of Nashville.
This bungalow is located in one of the hottest trending areas of Nashville, locally called Woodbine. The property values have doubled in the area over the last several years, and there is much development and new construction. Wingate is off of Nolensville Road which is an exciting corridor for retail and infill development. There is a very diverse population and the restaurants (which vary from authentic Mexican to Ethiopian, Thai and Indian) reflect this diversity. The neighborhood consists of tree lined streets and private residences. There are large lush green backyards but all of this is only a few minute Uber ride from downtown. It is close to the Nashville Zoo, Percy Priest Lake and a short ride from the airport. Right now, the rates in this area remain affordable, but with all of the development coming in from downtown, you should come and stay in this home now, before the prices catch up with the demand!
