Great location, 5 min walk to T line, which gets you plenty of places in Boston. Be ready to hike some hills if you are used to flat land though!Highly recommend the Green Haus coffee shop, close by. Get out to the North End for some incredible pasta.
This was a wonderful place to stay and we would happily return next time we’re in Boston. Plenty of space for 5 and fully equipped kitchen for eating in.
Great stay in a great place. The beds are so comfortable and the bathrooms are very clean. We are a young family and had no issues with this, but if you’re staying in the large unit on the top two floors, you do have to go up some pretty steep, tight staircases.
3 couples stayed at this home, it was perfect. The reviews on the stairs are spot on, however, we found the stairs to be the topic of our nightly conversations!! :-)

Ahh, Yes the steps! Very common part of our beautiful architecture here in Boston, but unique for many travelers, Thank You soo Much for staying! Looking Forward to your return visit in the very near future:*)
Neat property with narrow winding stairs to the door. Very nicely furnished. Five minute walk to the Roxbury T stop. Good communication from the owner. We really enjoyed our stay.
Property was in a very convenient safe location. We had trouble finding parking one evening but found nearby parking the other nights. Do not underestimate the warning about the steps, they are narrow and steep. The window air conditioners kept the unit cool even on the hot days. Happy there wasn't a lot of check out chores. Would recommend this place if you can manage the steps with luggage
Three moms and three teens traveled to Boston to see some universities. The flat was perfect for this! Right on the T, and a beautiful and functional home. The owner was super helpful and easy to work with. Would definitely stay here again!

So Happy you enjoyed Ann! Fingers crossed your daughters pick a Boston school and you will be regular guests;)) Sincerely, Terry Fort Hill Inn, Boston
We really lucked out on this one. So comfortable and clean. Nicely decorated, spacious too, and the kitchen was well equipped. It’s a perfect place to stay if you don’t mind the narrow staircase. We managed the stairs and the three of us are over 60.
It was better than expected! Historic with beautiful upgrades, great neighborhood and Terry was the best. Greeted us for early check in and even assisted with our luggage.
We really enjoyed our stay and found the place to be everything we needed. Terry was very accommodating and even let us check-in early! The building was quiet and we had no trouble getting in and out. It’s close to the train and easy to get around. I will only note that the stairs are narrow, as stated, and it may not be the best choice for those who struggle with steps. Loved our time here and would stay again.
Brought my Mother, Sisters and two Nieces to Boston for a girls/lasses holiday. We loved the accommodations. The unit was clean, comfortable, cozy, cheery, and fun. Fully stocked with all the amenities you could need. It was perfect for us. Good location for easy access to sites and activities. Was concerned with not having parking at the unit, but it was near enough and worked out. We had two cars. We all agreed, we would want to stay again. Nice property - Great trip!

Glad to hear you enjoyed 😊 and parking was super easy. Looking forward to your return visit! Terry and Mindy
First, this is an older property, which is fine, but it’s a very narrow staircase and creaky. The sheets were stained and mold in the tub and shower was not great. The washer and dryer in the basement takes a lot of work to get down there. The place is fine but it was difficult for our family to be quiet with others in the units below. Parking is difficult. It’s always hard for our family of 6 to find places to stay in cities so this worked fine. Very convenient to downtown and museums and an eclectic neighborhood which I really like.

Thank You for your review Matthew! It looks as if we have fallen short of expectations and are always looking to improve to make the guest experience better. I have met with the cleaners to make sure shower curtains and sheets are inspected to make sure there are no issues as we absolutely do not want this to be part of the guest experience. We are always available during your stay to correct any issues if we are made aware of them. A few notes on the property, We are a historic property circa 1860 as are most properties in Boston. This type of property is not a good fit for everyone. The steps in the buildings are unique and original to the house. They have been in use by families for 162 years. They are up to code and fully maintained. Very sorry they were not acceptable to you. We do include in our listings, well behaved children only so as to keep noise to a minimum for other guests in the building. Very sorry this was difficult for you. Yes the laundry is in the basement and available for guest use. It sounds as if our property was not a good fit for your family and you were looking for an elevator building with laundry in unit. This we are not! We fully describe and include pictures and details of our units. Best to search for properties that best satisfy your family's needs for future trips so you do not show up and are disappointed and feel the need to give a bad review. Not fair to hosts in the VRBO community. I would recommend fully reviewing property details before booking. A suburb of Boston may be best as you will have greater access to new properties.
This was an absolutely beautiful place. I would love to have researched the history of it before we got there. It had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. It is really close to Freedom Trail and down town Boston. We went for the National Track Meet and it was close to the facilities there as well. So location is perfect. Things you need to know not cons at all just need to know: room is on third floor and stairs are narrow and steep. No parking at the building. We had a car, I would suggest not renting a car and just Uber everywhere. There is a heavy smell of pot in the evenings. My daughter did leave pants in the upstairs drawers and have contacted someone who said they would mail back to her but we have not heard from anyone since. Hopefully we will see them soon.

Thank You for staying Christy and taking the time to leave valuable comments for future guests! Lost and Found items should have arrived. Building is from 1860, originally a single family for upper middle class families that were foremen at the Brewery that was at the bottom of center place. Was our pleasure hosting you and your daughter! Sincerely, Terry and Mindy, Fort Hill Inn, Boston
Three of us were on a girls trip to Boston. The apartment was very nice as shown in the pictures and had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable. It was close to the subway station (the T) although you had to descend/ascend a big hill going to and coming from the T. The apartment is located on the 3rd floor of the building with two of the bedrooms on the 4th floor. The staircase to get to the 3rd floor is hazardous as it is circular with very narrow steps. This makes climbing them difficult especially when trying to get luggage up 3 and 4 flights. There was no landing at the top of the 3rd floor into the apartment so you walked directly from the top step into the apartment (and it's on one of the curves of the staircase). It was not safe trying to navigate the curve of the staircase and narrow step while locking the apartment door. This is just something to think about if you are older and not very sure-footed. Since we went the first of October, the weather got a little chilly at night. The heat for the entire building is not controllable in each unit. At night, the house was in the mid-60s so it was cold. However, the beds had good thick covers so once you got in bed, you could get warm. There are window units in each bedroom and the living room for summer heat. Being on the 3rd and 4th floors, fire escape instructions and a fire extinguisher should have been somewhere in the apartment. We weren't sure what we would do in the case of a fire.Overall, apartment is nice
