Disappointed in Bear Cave

Many repairs need to be done, including electrical repairs, drywall and railing. 1. The front door is nearly impossible (at best) to open. It is a serious fire hazard if you needed to exit the residence quickly as in a fire. This unrepaired condition is against fire code, but somehow it is still rented out. 2. There is a TV in the living room that does not have a remote, so we were unable to watch it during our stay. We notified the office and they immediately sent over a technician (Andrew) who could not get it working with the remote he brought. However, he shook my hand, looked me in the eye and promised me that he would be back the next day with a remote that would work. Never heard from him or anyone else again. Victoria told me on the phone that they would compensate us for the lack of use, but of course there has been nothing from Condotel. 3. The shower does not drain properly. Within a few minutes, you're standing in water nearly up to your ankles. 4. It appears by the photos that you are somewhat secluded. You aren’t, you’re next to a street and it gets noisy at times.

Perfect for our family of four

Check in was easy, and property was just as described. House was nice and clean with great views and lots of wildlife around. We stayed for a week while skiing for spring break, and I’d definitely rent this property again. It’s very close to shops in town if that’s your interest.

Good… but could be so much more

This is a lovely property. However, there are multiple minor things that needs to be addressed. The internet was not working. The hot tub was turned off and therefore was cold and we could not use it. The toliet seat is broken. Sweep behind the bed! The home is beautiful and perfect for a small group. Great kitchen and family room with recent kitchen upgrades. This would be a great for the summer time as well in order to utilize the sizeable deck. I would choose this place to stay again if the minor inconveniences were fixed.

Somewhat disappointing

The property was dusty and had cobwebs on some of the light fixtures, trash was not removed from the previous renter which made the place smell when we arrived, found dog poop on the carpet even though the listing said no pets allowed, dvd did not work, and there was no vinegar or dish tablets to follow check out instructions so we had to buy our own supplies.

Mountain View

The house and property were perfect for us. We enjoyed the outdoor deck and nicely decorated interior. It had everything we needed. Although it was great to be so close to everything the noise from the road was disappointing. We did however have a lot of wildlife right on the property with elk and birds.

Good location close to town, hot tub is great. Lots of elk and deer in the mornings.

Clean, nice views with great access

We enjoyed it! Close to all activities & Main Street. Has a pull-out queen bed in the living room & 2 bedrooms with 2 baths (one has a tub). The deck is great & so nice to sit out on & enjoy the cool weather & views. Cooking utensils could be better, grill & stove were average — we like to cook at home so decent appliances & utensils are important to us.

Great view!

A great mountain getaway. The view was just what I wanted…enjoying the trees and view from the warm house. We enjoyed our stay and the stocked kitchen had everything we needed to cook at home. Thanks for sharing your house with us!

Mountain getaway

This property was perfect for my husband and myself. We enjoyed relaxing in the living room and watching tv. We cooked many meals in the well stocked kitchen. The Bear Cave was super close to grocery stores and fantastic restaurants. By parking in the back, we didn’t have to use the steps which were covered in ice when we first got there. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Ruidoso in the future.

Home away from home

Kitchen was well stocked. Close to town. Needs outdoor lighting in front of property and stairway. We tripped several times making our way up and down after 5pm. Could have been bad.

Perfect spot

The cabin was perfect; we saw plenty of wild life like elk, deer, and turkey. It came fully stocked with everything you need to cook and and barbecue. Spotty cell service but the WiFi worked perfect for surfing the web and booking outings.

Really Nice Getaway...The upper Deck is fantastic!

We parked around back, so no issues with stairs, and just went in and relaxed on the porch. Kitchen was very nice and we enjoyed having the bedroom separation as well. The best part was seeing the deer walk by almost every day. The bucks were just starting to lose their velvet. Saw two fawns grazing for a little bit. At night, stars were bright, and NO BUGS. Friendly neighborhood cat came over daily to say hi, which was nice since we can’t own a cat due to my allergies. So my 10yr old was in heaven. Great stay! (Owner can contact me for some improvement suggestions that have nothing to do with review :-))

Family R&R before Chemo

Stayind at the Bear Cave property was a great experience. The property has everything one needs. The grocery store is near by and very convenient. Felt very cozy, my grandson wanted to stay longer. Great getaway to relax before chemo treatments begin. We will definitely be back.

What A Scam

This property location and neighborhood was not Described honestly in the description. We faced the noisiest street in Ruidoso! There were constant trucks, work vehicles, motor cycles, and even bulldozers! It was so loud we couldn’t enjoy the deck at all the entire weekend! Even Sunday morning was bad! There was no furniture in the backyard that looked terrible and construction site on one side. And, no jacuzzi but a rickety old deck on the side of the house that use to hold it. Close houses on the other side decided not to Social distance and held a party together (30 ppl) in the front yard by the roadside and held a sign to traffic to Honk!! The cars and trucks obnoxiously laid on their horns while the neighbors screamed back. We had to listen to constant honking from 2pm until near 9 pm!! This was not our idea of a peaceful getaway!! So, we spent most of our time indoors. The cabin seemed newly remodeled and overall was nice. You took our money knowing about this road and crappy deck location (and crappy metal furniture). This was not an inexpensive rental. You should be more aware of your clients property!
