I rarely leave anything but 5-star reviews, and at the start of our stay this would have been as well. The home is beautiful and Playa Negra is stunning. The main drawbacks were no AC in the main living area (though it is open-air) and two bedrooms that require walking outside to access â not ideal for two families with five young kids. The same key also locks both areas, which complicated things.Unfortunately, our experience with the host significantly detracted from the stay.The listing states there is a washer and dryer and notes laundry is 8 per load, but guests are not allowed to use the machines.All laundry and cleaning must be done by the cleaning crew with no disclosure of additional fees, tipping expectations, or charges, and with the implication this service is included in the booking total. At checkout, it became clear guests are expected to tip substantially, apparently because the cleaners are not paid by the host, despite the cleaners daily cleaning required by host.We were also contacted repeatedly about tipping. Although tips are said to be optional, the messages created pressure. Being told after checkout that your tip was insufficient is inappropriate, especially with no clear expectations.Any laundry, cleaning, or concierge fees beyond the booking total should be clearly disclosed. The home is lovely and Playa Negra is magical, but the lack of transparency and pressure around extra payments made this stay far less relaxing than it should have been.
