Great view and location, needs upgrades and no cockroaches

After driving the whole island this is one of the most beautiful areas on the island. The view is definitely stunning and gives you incentive when waking up and coming home. The unit has an outdated feel to it but was clean. Management communication was great and was very responsive when we reached out with emails during our stay. They have beach chairs, bogie boards, and an umbrella that we put to good use. That was a great feature of this unit and made beach trips more enjoyable. We would stay again if certain changes were made. First, the AC is regulated, you can adjust it but that doesn’t mean it comes on. The majority of our time there the main room would not get below 74 no matter what you set it at. The AC display screen literally tells you that the compressor won’t come on for a couple minutes. We reached out to the management and again they were very responsive and had a maintenance man out within minutes. We’ve stayed at other VRBOs and they maybe a certain temperature they don’t want you setting it to, which is understandable. But, controlling when I can turn on the AC after coming home after a long day at the beach and the Sun. It’s not a good feeling when it’s actually cooler outside than inside. Their customer service and attentiveness was 5 stars for sure. Second, when getting in and unpacking we noticed that there was a cockroach trap behind the dresser, which was a little unnerving. It did give us fair warning though, it was confirmed that they did indeed have a problem when my wife found a good sized roach in our shower the next morning. We again reached out and management did get back quickly and when we returned to the property later that day the solution was that they left us another cockroach trap. Not exactly the response one would be hoping for when staying at a resort of this caliber. Third, their use of the word “short” walk to 4 beaches is a false claim. At best it's 20 minutes down a long hill which I’m sure would have been fun walking back up after a day at the beach. Also that’s not taking into account schlepping all your beach gear so that would make it an even longer unenjoyable walk. So walking to the beach isn’t really practical, driving down with all your gear and then trying to find a spot to park is closer to reality. Fourth, and probably most important, the mattress. The mattress is terrible, it looks like the old thin cheap mattress you had as a kid at summer camp. We just slept on the couch.

Golf villa stay

Great location, pictures on website accurate. Mattresses and pillows could use updating, but otherwise, very well equipped condo, nice big balcony and beautiful views of pool, grounds and especially the ocean!! We would have loved a chaise lounge to lay out on balcony, but table and chairs and wicker sette set were very nice. And beach chairs and cooler very handy! Property manager very helpful. We had a late flight home and she was helpful with a late check out. We love staying at Kapalua for the beauty of the grounds and the quietness.. easy walks to pools and beach and shuttle service great. We loved doing aĺl the great hiking trails along the ocean and enjoyed restaurants and the Honolulu store great food and did all our souvenir shopping there! I highly recommend it. The check in and long lines to get through customs at the airport meant we had no time for any shopping at the airport and that was going 3 hours before flight time ! We love Kapalua and loved Maui!

So much potential but needs a refresh

This property has tremendous views, and the grounds are spectacular. We appreciate that it had multiple pools. This particular unit though needs some serious love. The kitchen doesn’t even have the bear essentials that you would expect in a vacation rental. The outdoor furniture is flimsy. There was a glass top to a coffee table that was not secured to the table. It shattered on us. The dining room table is also a glass top that is not adequately secured and would be a hazard for children. The beds are ancient and uncomfortable. My suggestion would be to invest in updating the couch, outdoor furniture, beds and bedding, and the kitchen supplies. That would greatly improve the experience at this property.

Numerous pools nearby and only a slight distance from beaches. However, this unit needs updating and repair work. The air vents are suspiciously dirty, one bathroom needs painting to cover previous repairs, curtains are sun rotted in several places, shower heads don't work correctly and fixtures are ancient. Kitchen faucet looks like an after-fit and the water barely reaches one of the two sinks.

Absolutely LOVED everything about the rental and the Kapalua Experience. Only two things, the dryer did not have heat so we had to dry our wet towels in various ways and there were a lot of children in the pools. The children were just being children having fun swimming in the pools, but there should maybe be some quieter adult swim times for the expense people go to go stay in this lovely community.

Love Kapalua!

Awesome views and great location! Lots of things to do in Kapalua and close drive to Kaanapali and other local spots. The condo is perfect for two couples or small family. Large open rooms. Patio view of the golf course and ocean are amazing. Condo had all the needed amenities.

That View Though

This unit is on the top floor, on the highest point of all the Kapalua Golf Villa condos. The view from here is spectacular, if a bit far from the water. We didn’t mind the distance as it’s a short drive and infinity quieter than beachfront. We loved watching boats sail by during the day and the sun set at night. The Kapalua area is a slice of heaven on Maui: an old pineapple plantation converted to golf courses with extremely low-density housing. The enormous, abundant pine trees are unique to this area and offer shade as well as privacy. The mountain vistas to the east are spectacular and there is very little traffic here, compared to elsewhere on the island. There is no road noise and everything is completely silent at night; we all slept like babies from 10-6 AM. It’s about a 5-minute drive downhill from several excellent beaches that vary in wave size from kid-friendly to surfing/boogie boarding-friendly. There weren’t any boogie boards to borrow at this unit, so we bought some decent ones (i.e., not styrofoam ones that break easily) and left them there for others to use. There is a nice Honolua/ABC store on Kapalua grounds about a 5-minute walk away, as well as the Napili Market (an actual grocery store) within a few minutes’ drive. Costco is by the airport, nearly an hour away. Best to stop there upon arrival. Last thoughts: this unit was updated partially several years ago and it shows its age a bit. That said, it was perfectly adequate, comfortable, and we found its price ($300 or so per night) to be fair for its location and condition. A new remodel would put it well out of my price range, which would be disappointing for my family as we hope to return next year for another two weeks!

Mediocre Rental Horrible Management

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Perfect location and well maintained grounds, to bad the management staff were horrible and the rental was ran down. Dining table had 3 chairs (one was missing). Balcony table and chairs were filthy, looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. Towel holders in the bathroom fell off the wall, lights didn't work, couldn't control the A/C so had to leave the primases during the day because it got to hot. Tried calling the management company to fix the A/C, they didn't show up for two days after. Missed them when they came because they did not arrive for the 8 am appointment so the issue was never rectified. Dishes were dirty so had to wash them before using anything. List goes on, not a desirable experience considering the cost was over $6,500 for 8 nights.

Hawaiian Retreat

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The condo was spotlessly clean, has large bedrooms and baths. Kitchen well equipped to allow you to eat in if you so desire. View from the lanai was outstanding, the photo do not do it justice. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
