French Vacation

There were eight adult family members on vacation. The property is absolutely amazing. The house was very comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed during our stay. The grounds are meticulously maintained and the only sounds you hear are the sheep in the dry moat and the birds that inhabit the property. Though there is no air conditioning in the home, the temperatures were very manageable with the windows open. Chartres is a charming town, away from the hustle and bustle of Paris. Plenty of restaurants and shops to keep you busy.

Best/most romantic place we've ever stayed

My wife and I stayed here as part of a short overview trip of France to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The spectacual photos in the listing don't even do this place justice as it truly is a place you'd want to tour if you weren't staying there. But what really made this place speical was the host, Iris, who is a national treasure. She lives in an attached home, and she has made it her mission to purchase and restore this anchient chapel, which was being used as a barn when she acquired it, and she is working to purchase the ajoining properties. On check-in, she took incredible time to show us around, tell us the story of her property, and even walk us to the local market and restaruant and make recommedations of what to eat. She had a full map and pamphlets laid out of the things to do in the region which she explained in detail; the ones we explored were excellent. She really made the stay special, and we wish we could have stayed more time there exploring her travel secrets for the region. This place has our highest recommendation, both because of the actual incredible historic lodging and because of its wonderful host.

Multi-generation group

A fantastic property which worked well for all people in our party. The houses were clean, well equipped and very comfortable. A superb garden for playing games in and a lovely walk via the gate at the end of the garden. Although no amenities within walking distance it is only a short drive to the local supermarket and Chartres. Pierre is very knowledgeable about the local area and was available by phone should help be required. Overall, we have a very relaxing stay and would love to return sometime in the future. Beauty and Tranquility

This is the most tranquil and beautifully-decorated cottage we have ever stayed at. It’s private and really affords guests the experience of French culture and history. The bed and sitting room are very comfortable and the garden is lovely. Highly recommended.

Amazing place, so lucky to find it!!!

We were so impressed by the property. The pictures are accurate. We had such a wonderful stay. The caretaker, Jerome, was amazing. The grounds were so beautiful and the house incredible. We will definitely stay again!!

beautiful, restful place and amazing, helpful hosts

This location was an idyllic setting in the French countryside. Our group found it restful, quiet and well set up for our stay. We had six adults and had more than enough space and privacy. We decided to arrive on Sunday and this posed a problem with transportation and groceries. Annick was very gracious and helped find solutions to both of these issues. I hope to return in the future!
