Kathy's Kabins has added an Enchanting Vacation Rental Home to her list of Great Getaways. Kathy's Kottage, which overlooks the Zigzag River, in Rhododendron, is located in MT Hood National Forest. Kathy's Kottage does get snow, especially at 1560 feet elevation. This remodeled, unique, 2 bedroom, 2 bath, was used as a Lodge for the miners in the early 1900's. Kathy's Kottage has quite a bit of history behind the original name "Gorton Lodge". Kathy's Kottage has been updated, but retained it's "Lodge Look" on the inside. At Kathy's Kottage, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the Zigzag River 24 hours a day, and the views of the mountains.
Kathy's Kottage also has a generator just in case the power goes out, which it occasionally does.
When you enter Kathy's Kottage, you'll walk into the enclosed porch which has a desk, perfect for that inspiring writer! You have a view of the River and the Mountains. From there you'll enter into the Entertaining/Living Room,(18x30)which was also called the Reception Room when it was Gorton Lodge. The decor has been kept in it's original condition with the woodsy, cabiney look of a Lodge. The 2 Sofas open up to Queen size beds, which will sleep up to 4 extra people comfortably ,
especially handy for those late night friends.
There is also a 36" LCD Widescreen TV, with DVD player for your viewing pleasure. Kathy's Kottage is perfect for ENTERTAINING!! and Very Romantic... Put a few logs into the Fireplace,sit back and relax to the sounds of the crackling fire. Catch up on "OLD TIMES"....
The Dining Room shares the Living Room and is able to seat up to 8 people to enjoy that gourmet meal you have prepared in Kathys Kitchen that has also been updated.
Kathy's Kitchen comes complete, with a dishwasher, garbage disposal, ice maker and cook top stove. All appliances,including coffee pot, crock pot, roasting pan, mixer, blender,utensils, spices,etc., are supplied to cook that gourmet or Holiday meal.
Prepare yourself a beverage, step out onto the deck,sit by the railing and take in a breath of fresh Mountain air, as you watch the river pass you by. Or,on those brisk mornings, sip your morning cup of coffee or tea at the breakfast nook and enjoy the sights of the River and Mountains.
The Master Bedroom is romantically darkened with the walls of nature surrounding Kathy's Kottage. Drift off to sleep on this massive King size bed, along with your own private bath and cable TV, with a DVD/VCR. Cover up with high quality sheets and down comforters. Lay back and relax, take in the sounds of the Rushing River. Kathy only puts "TOP OF THE LINE MATTRESSES" inside her Kabins. No lumpy beds in Kathy's Kottage, you'll get a good nights sleep!!
The Guest Bedroom, complete with an Antique, Queen bed, has ample closet space and a TV for your viewing enjoyment. The antique decor and the sounds of the Zigzag River will relax you and take your cares away.
Outside on the deck you'll find the Hot Tub, which is just a few feet away from the Zigzag River and the front door. Step down into the hot tub at night and look up at the stars, as you take in the sights and sounds of Nature, in your private, secluded Hot Tub, in the MT Hood National Forest. What a relaxing night!!!
Even though Kathy's Kottage has only 2 bedrooms, it's a romantic, cozy, retreat for that special getaway, ski outing, vacation, weddings, honeymooners or a holiday for 2-8 people. Kathy's Kottage has welcomed several couples who have performed their wedding vowes on the deck.

Hi Kathy, We had such a wonderful time at the Kottage this past weekend with my brother and his wife. We spent the days skiing and it was so great to come back to the cozy fireplace and hot tub to relax at night. We had high hopes and they were exceeded by the attention to detail from the cleanliness to the bottle of wine to greet us. We can tell that you take pride in taking care of your guests. Kathy, Thank you for the use of your home. We had a wonderful time. Thank you for the wine, it was very good! The snow is beautiful and we took walks from the hyouse each day. We really had a GREAYT TIME! The bed was awesome!! So very comfortable. Thanks again! We most likely will come again when wanting a house in this area.

We had a WONDERFUL time and vow to stay 1 full week next time:) The kitchen was where we spent most of our time and thank you for keeping it so well stocked. The bed in the master bedroom was AMAZING and so comfortable! The only improvement (for a workaholic like me) would be to have wi-fi here as I needed it more than I thought. What a terrific place for a getaway! We stayed two nights and wish it could have been more but alas, you have to go home sometime. the Kottage is very comfortable and couldn't have been better. We made a day trip to the Columbia River area and Mt. Hood. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting this area. The pictures and listing were especially accurate. Wish we would have had time for the hot tub but the river flowing right outside is soooo relaxing, especially at night. Thank you Kathy, especially for the bottle of wine. What a wonderful touch!
