Pretty Good Napa House

While I think the owners were very friendly, I must honestly say the house is not as nice as the description and pictures appear. On the positive side, the location is in a very quiet neighborhood with great access to wine country and Napa (by car). The backyard was very nice. The bathrooms are not updated with very dated tub and shower. The second bathroom is very small. The bedrooms are very sparsely furnished so you have to have your clothes in suitcases on the floor. Sorry to post but I think expectations should be managed.

Hi Sarah. Our stay at the house was very pleasant and relaxing. Nice kitchen, plenty of dishes, utensils, and spices in the cabinet. The glass door windows were open when we got there, which was perfect for the warm day. The house was conveniently located close to shopping areas and love your backyard! Thanks for making our stay memorable.
Owner response:Glad to hear you had a great time! Come back and visit soon.

Convenient Napa location

Not sure what happened in the nearly 2 years since the last review. The location and and instructions were great. However, we arrived to a musty/carpet cleaner odor. The kitchen is beautifully redone, but no wine opener! Really, in Napa? And the supplies were scant: only 6 of each utensil, etc. so we had to wash the cooking fork so we could all eat breakfast together. Although we were 6 people, our relationships required that we use the air mattress. There weren't any clean sheets in the linen closet, but we found 2 sets of dirty ones on the laundry machines, so we washed them ourselves. As I said before, the location is quite convenient. It was a short ride to Target and Whole Foods, a tad longer to the wineries. We had great visits at Hall-Rutherford, Larkmead, Keenan, Chappallet, Cliff Lede and of course our picnic lunches from the Oakville Grocery. Had great evening meals at Brix and Bistro Don Giovanni. The single level living and location offer great potential with a little more attention to detail.
Owner response:Johanna, I am disappointed that you had a bad experience at our vacation rental and that you didn’t contact us to solve some of your issues during your stay. We live locally and can usually accommodate requests immediately. We do not provide linens for the air mattress if your party is 6 or less without prior arrangements. We do this to deter from “extra” guests that are not listed on the contract. Had you of called me I could have informed you were the key to locked linen closet was. As for the utensils, we have 2 sets of six in the house so I’m not sure if they were placed in a different drawer by the cleaning service or what. As for the wine openers those unfortunately do get taken from the house quite frequently. I have a supply in the locked linen closet and would have been accommodated with a phone call. I think the smell you experienced was probably vinegar from the hardwoods that gets washed in between each stay but I will make sure to check for it the next time I am at the house. Our vacation rental has been very successful and we do not hound guest to make posts as it has generated a lot of spam emails for them. I will say that this is the only negative comment I have ever received in the four years of running my rental but I do appreciate all feedback positive or otherwise. I hope you still enjoyed your trip to the Napa Valley! Sarah Meyer

The place was exactly as you described in a quiet neighborhood on the West side of 29...maybe a 5 min drive to the center of napa. Beds were comfortable, AC worked great, plenty of room in the living room and kitchen for our family of 5. Property was clean and well taken care of. When we are back in the area we will definately check in again!

This house worked out perfect for us! The beds were comfy, plenty of blankets etc, and the air mattress was great too (and comes with an auto air pump!). Kitchen was roomy, plenty of cookware and wine glasses etc. We especially loved the big dinning table that we used for games and gathered at meals. We didn't get to use outside that much other then the BBQ to grill a yummy steak dinner, but it was nice to have the privacy of the backyard. The back tree line made you feel like you didn't have any neighbors. Wholefoods, Trader Joe's, Target and Peet's coffee are all super close and all together so we ran down there for stocking the house a few times. You'll love this place, simple, easy access, reasonably priced!

Hi Sarah, Thanks so much. Our stay at Harvard was very pleasant and right down the street from the wedding at the Carneros Inn. In the meantime, my husband's sister just moved 1/2 mile away, so there are going to be a lot of good times in Napa at the Harvard House! Thanks again. Chris and Bud

Hi Sarah, My friends and I had a fantastic time at the rental house. It was universally agreed to have been our best Napa trip, and we are hoping the next time we are in the area we'll be able to arrange a stay at your house. Everything was sparkling clean and beautiful, and we especially loved being able to have a brunch and bbq in the yard. Thanks for a great weekend! Doris

The home was a great resting place. We came out for a week for my sons wedding and the arrangement worked out beautifully. This was the first time we had stayed in a home and it was far superior to a hotel. The washer and dryer was a huge plus for our trip. The owners were very helpful and friendly to work with. Thank you so much!

This home was very comfortable and inviting! The pictures online really do no justice for the house - it is so much more!! The location is perfect- only minuets away from downtown and from wineries! We will definitely be back to rent here again!
