Authentic historic adobe built in the 1870s with a newer addition used as studio by the artist and author Judy Chicago. Located in a peaceful private compound on Canyon Road in the heart of the historic east side of Santa Fe on a one-third-acre lot. It is nestled among large trees and presents the best of traditional Santa Fe set in a tranquil one-acre natural setting.
Walk to the galleries on Canyon Road without any parking hassles, since they are right outside of your door! Drop by Geronimo, The Compound, or El Farol for lunch and dinner – only two blocks away... Or continue walking to the Plaza to complete your tour of downtown Santa Fe.
Lush gardens, three water features, large trees, beautiful stone walls and walkways are all part of the landscaping which surrounds the house. Spacious portals and patios offer access to the gardens from the living room, the bedroom suites, and the kitchen.
There are three large outdoor garden areas with chairs, chaises, and tables: the main patio off of the living room, an outdoor dining patio off of the kitchen, and a romantic private spa patio with a Hot Spring spa. And there is even an area on the grounds with a gas fire place circle where you can sit outside by a fire warming yourselves while looking up at the wonderful skies of New Mexico.
The home has been beautifully restored and sleeps five, with two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and one main floor with a second-story sleeping loft. It has been completely redecorated and has new furnishings and artwork throughout the house, including many special antiques, Native American weavings and pottery, and southwestern pieces.
There is a king bed in the master suite, a queen bed in the guest suite, and a twin bed in the loft. All bedrooms are supplied with high quality linens, down comforters, and down pillows.
There is a large HDTV with a DVD/VCR and stereo in the living room. There are TVs with DVDs and stereos in the master and guest suites. The home is fully equipped with high-speed Internet access, including wireless networking throughout house and grounds, a laser printer, a fax/copier, and unlimited local and long-distance telephone service.
You enter the spacious living room through double French doors. This room features colored concrete floors, vigas, and a classic fireplace. The adjacent dining room is cozy and bright. Sip cocktails, read and relax on the main-garden portal listening to the rock waterfall and viewing the changing light of our beautiful New Mexico skies.
The master suite has a large king bed and vigas with three skylights enabling you to view the stars as you relax and drift off to sleep. Outside of the master suite there is a cozy sitting room and library with vigas, built-in bookshelves, a Kiva fireplace, and French doors that lead to a romantic private spa patio with a Hot Spring spa and an artistic stone water feature. The bookshelves are filled with a comprehensive library of southwestern books covering such topics as travel, maps, art, decorating, gardening, cooking, and local mysteries.
A spiral staircase rises to a bright loft with vigas, two twin beds, and views of the skyline and mountains on the east side of Santa Fe.
The guest suite features an updated bath and a spacious bedroom with a tall four-poster queen bed. French doors lead out to the dining portal and fountain area. Large windows provide beautiful views into the gardens and of the sunrise in the morning.
Cooks will love the kitchen which features tiled counter tops, vigas, and skylights. It is equipped with modern stainless appliances including a microwave. The kitchen opens out to the dining portal with a large rustic table that seats 8.

This home made us feel like we were at home away from home. The property has everything you need plus more. It is very close to Canyon Road Museums and some of Santa Fe's best restaurants. There is a hiking trail right nearby too. Something for everyone within walking distance. The owner was great to work with and made me feel like an old friend. We are already looking forward to staying here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

My wife and I spent a long weekend at this beautiful Santa Fe home. This was one one of the most beautifully furnished homes we have ever stayed. We would spend the days exploring the mountains and historical Native American sites and return to the house. We would walk to one of the excellent restaurants located within a short walk from the house. We purchased several local wines and enjoyed them while sitting around the fire pit or in the cozy reading room. Truly a lovely home, great location, and the owners were very helpful from start to finish. Highly recommend this home for any trip to Santa Fe.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family had a delightful week long stay at this beautiful property in early March 2013. The home has been renovated in such a way that it feels like a home away from home. If you are looking for proximity to the galleries and restaurants of Canyon Rd, then look no further. The house is less than a 5 minute walk from a coffee shop and several eateries as well as ALL of the galleries. I recommend the Compound of you are looking for delicious meal! This large adobe home can comfortably accommodate large families, up to 6, as it allows plenty of room for those who may want to watch movies as well as those want to read and reflect quietly in the library located on the opposite side of the property. This was hands down the best property my wife and I have ever rented. We were hoping to rent a really nice home that was close to all the great restaurants and galleries on Canyon Road. We could not have been more thrilled with our decsion to rent this home. The place is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. It was great that we were able to see it while snow covered but would love to go back in the summer as the grounds would be amazing after everyhthing has bloomed and come to life. The owner communication was fantastic before, during and after the stay. We have told several friends about this place. If you are nervous about making a bad decision when renting a place you haven't seen, don't be nervous about this one. We will go back as soon as we can steal away for a few days.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

This is a truly wonderful property in a great location. We had 4 adults and two young kids (4 and 9). The kids had a great time sleeping in the loft area and each couple had their own bedroom + en-suite. Clearly designer decorated with everything we needed and more. Great Santa Fe vibe and amenities. Lots of cool outside areas to hang out and 2 minutes walk to a local park. Right up the road from Canyon Road. Easy 15-20 min walk to the square. Would absolutely stay again. My husband and I had the luxury of four days in this beautifully updated home at the "top" of Canyon Road in Santa Fe. The house would easily accomodate two couples, and has room for a couple of others in its loft...AND there are so many indoor and outdoor spaces which are lovely and beautiful and quiet and private that it truly feels luxurious. Kitchens and master bath are totally contemporary and well equipped; furnishings complement the beautiful renovation in a very authentic and classy way. The home was spotless, instructions for using the fountains, fire pit, hot tub, etc are complete, and we felt really privileged to be there. Being so close to many of the Canyon Road galleries is an extra plus. The owner was easy to be in touch with and helpful in every way. There are so many wonderful restaurants and activities in SantaFe (some within walking distance) that we'll leave that list to others. We'd return in a minute!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Everything about arranging our stay was easy and prompt - when we arrived the house was spotless and ready for us - there is a completely comprehensive manual about everything you could ever need to know about the house with the owner's excellent suggestions for restaurants and other things to do around the area. The furniture is comfortable, the decor is lovely, Santa Fe style, and the beds are comfortable, even up in the attic room with the two beds. Loved being in that location, just above where things can be crazy on Canyon Road but close enough to walk to Downtown Subscription for coffee in the morning. We would all love to come back!Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We could not have had a better experience at this property. The home is very comfortable and has been thoughtfully renovated with beautiful furnishings. We also spent many hours enjoying the patios and gardens. Great location. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this home. It is beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The location is perfect for wandering up and down Canyon Road, enjoying the galleries and restaurants etc. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive to all of our needs and queries. I would definitely recommend this rental and hope to return someday. We enjoyed lunch at The Compound and we hiked up by the ski basin.There is a lot to do and see in Santa Fe, too much for one short trip.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We loved our stay on this property in Santa Fe! Great amenities, hot tub, internet, fire pit. Wonderful layout inside, good for 2 couples, and a very nice property outside. This home is right on the main drag if you're into visiting the art galleries, but it's still tucked away enough for those just looking for a romantic getaway. Why the Owner Chose Historic Eastside:
We purchased this lovely, peaceful property on Canyon Road so that we could experience the best that the city had to offer, but also so that we could quickly reach the Ski Basin for hiking and Snowshoeing.
We love walking to the galleries and restaurants on Canyon Road in the afternoons and evenings without having to drive in our car and to find parking. And when we get back home it is so quiet and relaxing in our our house and yard, far from the hustle and bustle of Canyon Road and the Plaza.
On Friday afternoons we really enjoy walking down Canyon Road to all of the gallery openings. The Tea House is 1 block away and a perfect place for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon tea break. And at night, you can walk to some of Santa Fe's best restaurants: Geronimo, El Farol, and The Compound which are 2 to 3 blocks away.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It's a very peaceful and private location that is just a minute or two from Canyon Road. It is beautifully renovated and has been decorated by a great designer who has worked for us for years, with beautiful art and antiques. It has an enclosed outdoor area with a hot tub and fountain which provides a wonderful place for relaxation, rejuvenation, and enjoyment of the sky, both during the day and at night. We just installed a new fire cauldron in the fire ring outside so you can enjoy the night sky as if you are around the campfire!
