Come relax with family and friends and enjoy your own private northern Michigan get-away. Sit around the fire and look up and enjoy the show in the sky. Other activities in the area include canoeing the Rifle River which is one of the best canoeing rivers in northern Michigan. The Rifle River is one of the most popular streams in the entire state on summer weekends.

Both canoeists and tubers flock to this attractive, easygoing northern river on summer weekends. It possesses a mild current, long sections of sandy riverbed, and plentiful swimming holes, all of which make the stream a good option for families and other groups looking for an undemanding float. The Rifle is also attractive, winding past pretty woodlands, summer cottages, and quiet farm fields for much of its length as it makes its way to its outlet at Saginaw Bay.

Or if golfing is your thing, check out Huron Breeze and Red Hawk golf courses they are both excellent.

The Saginaw bay is only 5 miles away and you can drop you boat in the bay at Great Lakes Shores Marina and catch walleyes, perch bass and pike. The Walleye stocking program has developed the Inner Bay as one of the most productive fisheries in the U.S. for Walleye fishing. This watershed is one of Michigan's most diverse areas – its rich resources support agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, outdoor recreations, and a vast variety of wildlife. It is also Michigan's largest watershed (8,709 square miles or 22,556 square kilometers in size), including a part of 22 counties and contains America's largest contiguous freshwater coastal wetland system.

Take a short drive to AuGres and enjoy the Water Funland that offers water slide, go-karts, miniature golf, trout pond and more. If you want to hang at the beach for the day, East Tawas State Park is only a 30 minute drive and offers an awesome beach on Lake Huron.

    • Our stay at the cabin was fantastic! Everything you need is there. Very clean and "like new." Lots of privacy and areas to explore. The quiet and serenity of the place, along with the variety of nature, made our stay wonderful. Besides the turtles, frogs and fish in the pond, we were able to see beavers and a bald eagle! A mile and a half from canoe rentals made trips on the Rifle River very convenient. We'll be back!

    • What a great place! We stayed for a long weekend and it was perfect. The kids had tons of room to run, play ball and get all of their energy out! My boys loved feeding the turtles-we have never seen anything like it-they swim right up to the dock when they see you standing there. It is amazing. The cabin was great, both clean and comfortable. We had a great time and will probably go back again next summer. Thanks!!

    • We sure enjoyed our week in this beautiful cabin. How totally peaceful!! We enjoyed feeding the fish and turtles! Loved seeing the turkeys and deer. We treasured the feeling of seclusion and quiet. We were close enough to many lakes and streams so that we could fish and then come back and enjoy our catch of the day. Kitchen had everything we needed and we could use the washer and dryer....it was just a beautiful week. Thank you. • We spent a week at this cabin in July and it is beautiful! It is just like camping but very comfortable; secluded, quiet and far enough away from the closest neighbors that we didn't worry about how noisy the children were. The little pond was a constant source of entertainment with the frogs, fish and turtles. The bay is close enough to go fishing if you want to catch dinner. The turkeys and deer every morning were so much fun to watch. In the little town there is a public access to the river and every day we would take our tubes, get in and leisurely float back to the cabin. Just the perfect amount of time on the water. Then more entertainment was setting on the banks of the river and watching the crazy canoers and tubers going by on the weekends. Thank you so much for a great week at your cabin. I hope we can return next summer, we loved it!

    • We stayed at the cabin for the 4th of July weekend, I can not say enough positive things about this cabin. The cabin is VERY CLEAN, has everything you need and a great location. You are very secluded in this cabin, a great up north feeling without going that far away. We brought many of our campin items but never even took them out of the vehicle, this place is fully equipped. There is a bar-b-q, lawn chairs, a gret dock at the pond to fish from (of course threw all the fish back) and a hamock that was so relaxing! I eman it when I say all you have to do it bring your linens. The rifle river is also a great day just to rent a tube and float down. We will be renting this again. We are a family of 6 and even though it only has 2 bedrooms, we put a couple cots in the living room and it worked out perfectly!!

    • What a perfect place you have! The cabin and property is a wonderful piece of northern Michigan paradise. Lots of wildlife to be seen including deer, blue heron, and a bald eagle! We had a great time kayaking all weekend. We launched at Russell's Campground (lucky for us it was closed for the season) and kayaked to Hickory Island Bridge just 2-3 miles up State Street in Omer. Perfect Fall colors and weather. We enjoyed a small campfire along the river as well as the campfire in the meadow/front lawn. Thanks so much for sharing this gem with us and hope to return again.

    • Loved it. Great log cabin. Clean and very well maintained. Used it for a golf weekend with some friends. Close to Huron Breeze golf course which is a fantastic course. We saw deer and turkey from the porch. Nice pond and close to the river. Drinking a few beers around a camp fire sure beats staying at a hotel. I will rent this place again.
