Enter through double gates of solid mahogany to a spacious outdoor gallery. Here, catch up on your reading in a colonial planter’s chair under the shade of palm trees, or stretch out on one of three decadency cushioned, lounge beds and enjoy the sun or the stars.
A breezy gazebo is perfect for lunch, complete with a handy grill and speakers for background music. And at cocktail time, Harry’s Bar is irresistible—it’s your own private poolside pub!
From the pool area, Harry’s Bar leads into a magnificent Danish yellow great room and dining area with a spectacular window wall facing the Caribbean. Shutters lower at the touch of a button if you decide to darken the room for a movie and an armoire entertainment center is complete with DVD/VCR, iPod docking station, satellite television, and even Sirius radio. Ahead is a crisp white kitchen with all the culinary gear you might need.
The villa’s bedrooms all face the pool through individual French doors and are decorated in subtle tropical hues with tasteful classic West Indian-style furnishings. All four have private baths and air conditioning to use if you wish, though island trade winds will provide natural cooling. You’ll appreciate thoughtful touches provided for your stay-bath amenities, beach towels-even Sugar Bay House dressing gowns.
Running the length of the pool are three bedrooms. Two have twin beds that can be converted to kings, the first in spun-sugar pink with a shower/tub bath and the second in powder blue with Wedgewood accents. The third bedroom, with its soft mango glow and palm theme accessories, houses a king-size four poster bed.
At the end of the pool, steps lead up to the fourth bedroom’s pavilion with pale lime green walls, a queen-sized four poster bed, and tester canopy overhead. This spacious suite has its own wet bar with refrigerator, and another set of French doors to a patio.
Rooms feature high, beamed ceilings, traditionally employed in island residences for centuries and throughout the house are finely-crafted mahogany furnishings inspired by the plantation era, including hand-made local tiles in Danish yellow. Look closely you’ll see inlaid accents carved from authentic ballast brick brought to the island on 19th century sailing ships that carried sugar and rum back to Europe.
From the great room or the pool area, watch sailors come and go on the great bay below an outdoor museum designated as the Salt River Bay National Historical Park and Ecological Preserve. Tour the park’s Visitor Contact Station, enjoy a refreshing swim at its white sandy beach visible from your villa, or stop by the marina to arrange a guided kayak expedition through the bay. And if you are a Scuba diver, or would enjoy learning, everything you’ll need is available at the marina’s dive center.
Your villa is ideally located at the center of the island’s north shore, an easy drive to either of the island’s two colonial towns, Christiansted or Frederiksted, for shopping, sightseeing, and fine dining. And just minutes away is Cane Bay, a spot favored by locals for its diving, snorkeling, and beachfront restaurants.

If you want to totally relax with friends or family this is the place. The views really are magnificient. The house is very tastefully decorated and comfortable. The outdoor deck is great and Harry's Bar is definitely the place to enjoy a pre dinner or after dinner drink. Pete, the on site property manager is also superb. St Croix is also a hidden gem. Lots to do. Great restaurants and uncrowded beaches. A truly great place to have a vacation!

We recently were able to enjoy two fabulous weeks at the Sugar Bay House on St Croix. It was our fourth trip to the island and by far the best, with this beautiful villa having much to do with our enjoyment. It is perfectly set up for a vacation rental - large common great room, private bedrooms (and baths) overlooking the huge pool and pool deck. The outdoor spaces are incredible, highlighted by the outdoor beds which look great in the pictures, but are unbelievably more comfortable in person! The great room has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Salt River facing East for incredible sunrises. There are so many choices for vacation villas, and while looking around at them all is fun when planning, we hope to return to the Sugar Bay House year after year!

St. Croix is a heaven on earth and Sugar Bay House is your home in that heaven. Its calm and quiet with your own pool to relax. It is on a cliff and the ocean views from the patio, kitchen and the big family room are simply spectacular. We travelled with our two girls 9 and 11 year olds and they loved to be in the pool all the time. The beaches in St. Croix are delightful and private. There are a lot of things to do for people with a flare for water adventures and still for people like us who are not so adventurous, its extremely relaxing. Its worth every penny if you want to get away from the routine hussle-bussle of any other tourist place.

I could not believe my eyes when I opened the front door. The property and view were outstanding, and the accommodations clean, comfortable and spacious. The pool was clean and an absolute delight. The house was a perfect vacation spot - we spent the day poolside, ventured out here and there and then back to relaxing. I could not stop taking photos of the house and the view. I did not want to forget a single wonderful moment of the trip, the island and our paradise home away from home.

Everything about our visit to Sugar Bay House was exceptional! The house is stunning and leaves you wanting for nothing. No description could do the view justice -- not even the spectacular photos that are posted. We enjoyed all the island had to offer, but couldn't stand to be away from the house for more than a few hours at a time -- it was just too wonderful to leave. I never thought I would want to cook so much on a vacation! Each bedroom has its own entrance which opens to the pool. It is truly like having your own private hotel. The kitchen had everything you would need, including a wet bar overlooking the pool and patio. Plus the outdoor grilling area was terrific. The pool was pure paradise and the lounge furniture was tops. Despite all we did, I still read 4 books while we were there. The great room had the most delicious breeze and was great for late night movie watching. For activities, we visited the island's gorgeous beaches and shopped in downtown Christianstead. We took a boat ride out to Buck Island for the MOST amazing snorkeling, we walked down to the marina and took a fun and educational guided kayak tour of the Salt River, and we visited the rain forest and Norma's famous beer-drinking pigs. (really!) We found some great restaurants, including Rum Runners and Angry Nates. Twice we walked down to the marina and ate there -- the conch chowder was delish. This was an ideal vacation and I don't think I would visit St. Croix again without staying at Sugar Bay House. I cannot wait to go back!

Our group of 6 have vacationed at Sugar Bay House in St. Croix for one week on two occasions. The property is not directly on the beach but the home is perched on a hillside with the beach and water a short distance away. The views of the water from the veranda and the living room are spectacular. One of the things our group likes best about Sugar Bay House is the great poolside and furnishings. The owners did not skimp when picking the furniture as you have many great options for dining and lounging around the pool. Very comfortable!! The caretaker Pete, who lives in an apt. below is also a plus. He is very friendly and welcoming and a comfort when something unexpected happens such as a "brown out on the island". Pete springs into action starting the generator before you even had a chance to recognize the power had gone out. But Pete allows for privacy which was one of our original concerns. That concern was alleviated after our first stay. I would definitely recommend this home as it is one of our favorites. The owners are easy to work with and have taken pride in keeping the house in good condition and clean, which is very important to our group. I don't think you would be disappointed if you chose Sugar Bay House. We enjoy the home so much we never want to leave. By they way, there is a great sitting area on the east side of the veranda in which you can sit and watch the sunrise or "check out" for hours as you watch the birds and feel the ocean breezes. We call it "contemplation point" and there is no place more serene and peaceful. Just pull up a bar stool or lounge chair and relax! Kim

We visited SBH for 9 days (April-May '09) and just had the most fantastic time! The house is superb with unbelievable views! The pictures do not do it justice. The home is extremely comfortable and clean. The furnishings are top notch and it is centrally located if you do decide to leave, but trust me, the home is so nice you will enjoy just relaxing by the pool and taking in the views. There are many beaches to discover if you do decide to venture out. You would be hard pressed to find a better villa and our group (4 couples) couldn't want for a finer villa!

We Just got back from our second stay at the Sugar Bay house. We had a great time. The house is beautiful and the views are spectacular. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed at. We had a great time relaxing pool side and did some fun activities on the island. I would recommend this trip to anyone. The house was gorgeous with many amenities. The views were great from every angle of the home, even while showering!!! The home's style was West Indies and had a great over all look. No penny was spared to decorate. The rooms were very private or could be a airy as you wanted them to be. The beds were extremely comfortable and clean. We had a good night sleep while we were there. Use the guides and books set up for the novice islander, they were extremely helpful and helped us tremendously planning our days activities. Can't say a bad word about the place!!! We enjoyed our getaway and would do a return visit!!

You have to see it to believe it! Once you enter the doors of this beautiful home, nothing else can compare. The views from this house are breathtaking; the house has everything you can imagine and the weather was perfect! While we enjoyed our accommodations, we also got to snorkel and visit Buck Island which has an amazing beach! It was perfect for our couples get-away.
