Villa Mondello, a Destination in Tuscany
Our multigenerational family of 13 found Villa Mondello very attractive and comfortable. We were warmly welcomed and treated like family. The house is beautifully appointed, rests on attractive grounds and is a stately manor at the top of a hill overlooking a bucolic Tuscan countryside. Great views from every window. Custom furniture and pottery from local craftsmen. Rooms are uniquely and beautifully decorated. We held a family talent show in the lower level ballroom, a wine tasting in the wine room, a chef dinner in the dining room, a cooking lesson in the kitchen, and shared many meals and lots of wine outdoors on the terrace overlooking the tuscan landscape. There is a huge Coop supermarket in Bibbiena, a short drive away which is equal or better relative to anything in the U.S. The double beds are all comfortable and queen size and the sheets, pillow cases, towels, and pool towels are as good as new. The outside charcoal grill works well. We loved the pool and found ourselves heading back from all daytime adventures for a swim to cool off every day with great enthusiasm. One of our members brought a Jambox and played music from an iPhone at the pool which was very enjoyable. It was difficult for us to leave Villa Mondello after a two week stay! Thank you Francesca for your special Tuscan hospitality!

We were a group of 9 people and had just a great time in this wonderful mansion. Tasteful interior. A kitchen with everything you need. The pool was cleaned every day. Lot´s of space on this huge property. Very obliging hosts. Great view from the terrace. There was really nothing to complain about.

I'm Francesca Boccalini, degree in European and Italian litterature. We recently restored Villa Mondello and all the frescoes, we use just high quality fornitures with particular attention to the details. Villa Mondello is perfect for group and families...but couples too!

Why they chose this property

Back in my childhood, I remember my mother taking me to the annual fair which was always held on the first day of August. While she was talking to her friends, I remember leaning over the wall of the villa and being utterly fascinated by the place and dreaming that one day - - - - .
Chance took over and one day in 2005, my parents went to inspect the villa on behalf of some friends. At that time, it was owned by the Venturini family and had been put up for sale. They fell utterly in love with it and thus our story continues.

What makes this property unique

The house was built more than 100 years ago.
It was built by two Englishmen. Borgo All Collina was a popular resort in Tuscany, visited by many English people who loved the valley and felt it to be more beautiful and authentic than other areas of Tuscany.
Then came the war years and in 1922 Villa Mondello was bought out of love by the Mondello family, after whom the house was obviously named.
It was bought out of love because the Mr. Mondello, a ship-owner by profession, had a great passion for poetry, defining himself an “amateur poet”, and often came to visit the grave of Cristoforo Landino, a great humanist and commentator of Dante's Comedy.
He brought his Sicilian taste to the villa, rich and colourful. He ordered that every room be painted a different colour - the image of each to reflect the literature he knew so well.
The family brought wealth and prosperity to the local area and was much respected.
