About this property

Loft at the aquarium (with possibility of parking)

The loft is located on the fifth and top floor of a building protected by an artistic bond, as it is among the oldest in the district. It's no lift, so if you don't have good legs, it's not for you ...!
On the other hand, once you have reached the summit, you will really have the sensation of floating above the historic center, because the room is flooded with splendid light all day long, which comes from the skylights. From here there is a small glimpse of the roofs, but especially you can touch that genoa blue with the finger that gave the name to the famous Blue Jeans.
The loft has recently been restored in detail, including the bathroom, the roof, the floor and all the facilities. It is furnished in a modern style. However, it retains some structural elements, such as the supporting beam that supports the roof along the entire length of the room, which date back to the time of construction of the building.
The roof is sloping and in the highest area of the room a mezzanine has been inserted, on which there is a double bed. There is also a double sofa bed and two ottomans that can be converted into a single bed.
It has a large fully equipped kitchenette complete with all appliances: dishwasher, fridge, oven, microwave, espresso machine, etc.
In the loft you will also find wifi, iron, hairdryer, vacuum cleaner, TV and washing machine.

Skylighted Fabulous Loft
My husband (a retired architect) & I stayed in the Loft Aquarium Apartment 4 nights in May. We were offered this property when a different property we sought. This Apartment was still under construction at the time of our reservation. We were extremely impressed with the design and layout choices & particularly with the materials used in the renovation; a very clean, bright & fresh ambiance. It is a long walk up the stairs to the fifth, top floor, (no lift) but it is well worth it.(quite doable even though we are in our mid 60's) The location is ideal, easy to get to everything. Via San Luca steps away & offers small grocery stores, shops, restaurants & is in the very old part of the city. Fascinating wandering around there. Trains & buses available very close by also. Taxi's are available in the Acquario area by the the port. We arrived by train, took a Taxi from the Train Station, a very quick trip, reasonable about 12Euro, with luggage a much easier than walking. We met Paola in the street, who'd gone to purchase Focaccia --welcome gift, very nice of her and much appreciated. Paola was amazing to deal with from beginning to end. She responded very quickly to our initial email and continued to be easy to communicate with throughout our stay. She recommended things to do places & to go based on our interests. She provided an Italian cell phone to use while we were there, although we never did really figure out how to work it, it was very thoughtful. We walked to Boccadasse, a little fishing village just north of Genova, took the train to Santa Margherita then strolled to Portofino which was a most amazing walk along the sea past beautiful homes, hotels and beaches, gorgeous and we highly recommend it. Wish we had more time in Santa Margherita--a very quaint place. The Slo Food Festival was going on in Genova right in front of aquarium and it presented many wonderful local fishes and other foods to sample which we did. We loved the apartment, it was quiet, relaxing, immaculately clean and had everything we needed to cook. Great WIFI. Sleeping in the bed up in the mezannine was great. It was comfortable and spacious up there. At first I worried I might fall out, but there is plenty of room and it's quite comfortable. It was a wonderful visit and a fantastic apartment, and owner is very gracious and quick to respond. Loved it all Thanks Paola

Semplicemente perfetto!
CONSIGLIATISSIMO!

What a helpful person!
My bag never landed with me. I arrived at the airport and it was gone. I arrived "home" and had nothing with me. Paola provided me with everything. She put together a "first night/day kit" with all possible items I could have required for my stay. She helped me with all burocracy to get my bag back, she called the airport, the airline company, the credit card company. She really made me feel home. She did all possible in order not to make me waste any additional time and...enthusiasm. She has turned a negative experience into an example of helpfuness that I will always remember with joy. The apartment level honorus Paola's helpfulnes. Beatiful, well equiped, charmly, clean. Could not have had a better stay! Thanks for everything!

Da ripetere!
La posizione è ottima: centralissimo ma tranquillo; Paola, la proprietaria, molto gentile e disponibile a darci numerosi consigli; il loft pulito, confortevole e ben accessoriato. Lo consiglierei sicuramente.

Let me tell you about myself!
I am Paola, married with three children, the first of which was born and raised in the historic center.
I studied computer science and work as a systems analyst at a school. I speak German, English and French, I spent long periods abroad and I like to learn about foreign people and show curiosity and corners of a city that is inclined to to be shy and reserved.
I love to travel and learn about other corners of the world. I love photography and every trip is a new opportunity. I also love reading, music and sports. Sailing is a family hobby and if possible, we will be happy to show you our beautiful coast from the sea!

Why they chose this property

DESCRIPTION
The loft is on the fifth and last floor of an ancient building, that is part of the World Heritage, since it is one of the oldiest in its district. There is no lift, hence, if you don't have..."good legs", this is nothing for you!
On the other hand, once you have gained the top you will have the impression of floating over the old town, since the space is overwhelmed by a beautiful light the whole day long, coming from the skylights. From here there is a glimpse of the rooftops, but most of all you can reach for the blue color typical of Genova, that has given the name to the world famous Blue Jeans cloth.
The loft has recently been entirely renovated, including bathroom, roof, floor, windows, plumbing, electrical and heating system.
It is modernly furnished. However, it preserves ancient elements such as the structural logging that holds the roof transversing the entire space, that is dated at the construction years of the building (1200).
The roof is pitched and in the highest part of the room there is the mezzanine, on which there is a double bed. There are also a double sofa bed and two ottomans convertible into single bed.
There is a large, fully equiped kitchenette , complete with all appliances : dishwasher, fridge , oven, microwave , espresso machine, etc .
You will of course also find wifi , iron , hair dryer , vacuum cleaner , TV and washing machine.

THE DISTRICT
The loft is located just in front of the aquarium, only a few meters away from the driveway , so you can download your bags comfortably , even in the rain , because the car will stop next to a porch.
Despite its centrality, the apartment is quiet and very peaceful. Vico Morchi is in fact a short pedestrian alley with barely any activity at street level, that joins the aquarium area and Via San Luca , a lively street with many commercial activities, restaurants and groceries. You will find all you can need at just a few steps!

What makes this property unique

MORE ABOUT THE DISTRICT
Vico Morchi is a small secondary, pedestrian alley, connecting the Expo with the aquarium and Via San Luca, the main artery in the Middle Age, for those who came to the city from the west.
In Via San Luca there are numerous palaces and patrician buildings, which still retain traces of fresco paintings that the best painters of the Genoese school of 1500-1700 made on the walls and ceilings of the rooms, as well as oil paintings and sculptures.
The existence of the original arcades in Via San Luca explains how several parades of vehicles and horses passed through it, impressive parades of Popes, Kings, solemn appearances of Doges and their courts. Spectators and passersby stood in the arcades and the road remained available throughout the procession. The development of trade and the subsequent need of closed spaces led to the abolition of the arcades and their arrangement in stores.

PARKING
The old town is a no traffic area, so almost no building can be reached by car. Parking in town can be very expensive - about 2 euros /hour and at least 25 euros /day.
I have the possibility to reserve a parking place at 15 euros per night, about 500 m from my apartment, which means 7 min by foot.

THE SIXTH BED IS FREE OF CHARGE
The apartment is a single room, ideal for a couple or a family with two or three children . We have added a sixth bed that we will be happy to offer without additional expenses for the sixth person. (Fill out five persons only in the request, in order to get the correct price, but then inform me about the sixth person! )
Children under three are free.

SERVICES
You will find pots and pans, towels , sheets, blankets and duvets. There are also books and games for entertainment.
There is no air conditioning (the walls are thick and keep the apartment cool) , but the loft is insulated and the skylights provide not only light but also air and fresh.
Electricity, water and gas are included in the price.
Breakfast is not provided.
