This special retreat is in the mountains 20 miles east of Payson, directly below the stunning Mogollon Rim vista. Less than a mile from the highway, the home is easy to access in all seasons, yet still perfect for those who enjoy quiet, wildlife, and beauty all around them. The hiking and fishing are outstanding in this forested area abounding with lakes, streams, and magnificent mountain views. Or you can enjoy the amenities of nearby Payson, with its antiques, museums, restaurants and shopping.

The home’s large back deck is directly next to the stream, making it a delightful area for eating, relaxing, and wildlife viewing, with many squirrels and birds lending their chatter to the burbling creek sounds. From here you can walk the creek, catch crawdads or go down to the fishing hole. Or simply rejuvenate yourself at this refreshing retreat and restore your spirit among the trees and sparkling water.

Inside the home awaits another kind of beauty: understated refinement rare to find in a mountain hideaway. The 1900 SF home has two master bedroom suites with private dressing areas and bathrooms, each with patio doors adjoining the 80 foot deck. There is a third central bathroom with shower for guests, next to the laundry and pantry. Cozy, private enough for two, yet able to sleep five, the home is large enough to entertain even more if desired.

  • We had a wonderful stay. The house is very roomy and comfortable for two couples. The split floor plan provides plenty of privacy. The large deck was perfect for relaxing, listening to the stream and watching the squirrels play. Thanks Anita! We'll be back!

    Not only is the location very beautiful, but so is the house and it's comfortable as well. There were four of us as well as our two dogs and it was plenty roomy. The deck is huge and sitting out there listening to the creek was so peaceful and relaxing. Our dogs loved chasing the squirrels back up the trees.   • This is not only a beautiful location it is a beautiful and comfortable home. We stayed 4 nights with our dogs and they did not want to leave. The deck has so much room you can find either a shady or sunny spot the entire day. This is a very relaxing getaway and we can't wait to come back. Dave

  • Thank you for the wonderful stay at Anita’s Creekside Haven. We came up for a weekend in January to enjoy freshly fallen snow and go cross country skiing. We loved the cabin—it was clean and well-appointed with a great split master bedroom layout. The snow was beautiful and the cabin warm and inviting. Our dog loved the well-fed squirrels scrambling up the trees too! Thanks – we look forward to another skiing trip soon. Andrej and Nancy

  • We were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived for Thanksgiving weekend and found the cabin to be extremely warm, inviting and well equipped for our stay. The boys and dogs loved the creek and chasing squirrels. The adults loved the peacefulness and having all the comforts of home plus the tall trees, the water and the gorgeous scenery from the deck. We will return!
