We're Vieques' original eco-travel destination. Our big, breezy country house, "casa grande" and the the other casitas on the estate have offered group gatherings for nearly 20 years. We keep things simple -- committed to making as little impact on our environment as possible and sharing the beauty with like-minded travelers.
la finca's 6 bedroom casa grande is great for all sorts of groups -- from six folks in our six rooms, to filling the place with a family reunion, educational group or yoga retreat -- with up to 20, using every bed and loft. La Finca offers a variety of private places and plenty of space so you can find your quiet hammock regardless.
Our rustic property is high in the hills of Vieques... offering views and trade winds where you can spend the day swimming in the chemical-free saline pool, or chillin' in one of dozens of hammocks. Come relax and get back to nature - listen to tropical tree frogs, watch shooting stars against black skies, and relax as palms softly rustle overhead.
Our on-site managers are happy to help you with local information and contacts for outdoor adventures, car rentals, nearby restaurants and island attractions. Our towels don't match. The rooms have no phone or television. La Finca is for people who like to go barefoot and take showers outdoors. We like it simple.
After a day of diving, snorkeling, or exploring Vieques' truly world class beaches, our guests can hang out at the pool, or sneak off to doze in one of the hammocks serenaded by the tropical frogs . Year Purchased: 1994
When we aren't running the finca in the winter months, we are small farmers in washington state; an architect & a sustainability professional. We believe in simple living at home and while traveling and are always happiest outside -- hiking, sailing, gardening, -- at the finca that can include dancing on the deck after a large group dinner with friends.
The finca is family-owned and operated. In that regard its really more like our home, our finca we like to share with like minded travelers. We've been lucky enough to have traveled throughout out our lives. We know what we look for, and what we avoid. The finca is built on that: providing a beautiful quiet and natural setting , with good clean, cotton sheets, a good reading light, and as few chemicals or electronics as possible.
When we aren't here, friends help run the place -- and all of us are committed to providing the best "eco-travel" location on Vieques for you and your family, children, and friends vacation.
Simply put, we love to share our finca and our island's undeveloped and beautiful setting.

The Unique Benefits of this Estate
if you like to start your day with a run or a good walk -- go for it. we are up in the hills on a small country road with little traffic...a run or walk in either direction is great. you can get to know the 125 species of birds on the island, or one of vieques's wild horses. at the end of the day, after the beach or exploring the island, you can wash off int he outdoor solar showers, and find a quiet hammock with a book, or meet fellow eco - minded travelers from around the globe.

Totally enchanting ! We rented La Finca for our daughters wedding and it was perfect for our needs. We wanted no frills and laid back but an affordable location to capture the essence of the Carribbean. It was a perfect fit for our family and friends - we had the whole place including the pool! La Finca was charming; beautiful grounds and great colors.(Hummingbirds and butterflies everywhere)! We used the family kitchen and dined everyday on the verandah! Also important to us was a good manager for us to count on having everything ready; answer all of our questions yet give us privacy. Whew. Couldn't have been better. robin, mother of the bride

We were two families which rented a number of rooms and cabanas and had a great time exploring beaches, hanging out at the pool, playing games on the porch and cooking meals together. La Finca is unique in that you have the opportunity to meet interesting people from around the world who are also guests or you can do your own thing. We loved that it was casual and everyone else was also there to enjoy the gorgeous scenery and lovely Caribbean air. Perfect for families, couples and single folks. Not much not to like.

A large group of friends and I have made it an annual tradition to meet up somewhere new and exciting each year. We found a rustic treasure in the jungle at la finca caribe -- and now have been there twice -- ! . Both times we rented the whole main house "casa grande", a big guest house with a unique personality. Casa grande has 6 guest rooms and decks upstairs and down -- so even though we were a large group -- it has a ton of space. the house has an open air kitchen where we were able to prepare our meals and make picnics for the beach. The "dinning room" is the deck with a view of the ocean and the cool breeze of the jungle. Finca offers plenty of individual space to relax in in-between group activities like the great hammocks or porch swings. When our group wanted a break from the white sandy beaches and crystal blue water finca has the perfect cure, a swimming pool for any level swimmer. La finca is definitively different. they say it's like camp -- and i think thats right. it is rustic -- but its clean and beautifully cared for. And its rusticness is a huge part of what makes it special... you really get to relax because of its funkiness, and the other guests -- in the other houses, that you share the pool with were great, like minded, travelers. Both times we got tons of great advise from the managers on the best beaches for snorkeling, local restaurants to eat at and best bio-bay tours to take. We will come back again -- and our friends feel the same... its starting to feel like our own tropical home :)
