The Griffin House nests, like its mythological namesake, on a secluded acre and a half on the lofty cliffs that form the gorgeous Columbia River Gorge. The 3 story, 4 bedroom/3 bath home feels swept up yet stands solidly commanding breathtaking, aerie views, widely acclaimed for spectacular sunsets, osprey and geese fly bys, and bald eagle sightings. The ambiance is unequaled!
The Great Room provides elegant, intimate space ideally suited for family dinners, wine tasting, and small gatherings. Close to 800 square feet, the Great Room boasts walls of expansive windows – the Columbia River Gorge right at your seat! North and South window walls bring the outside in while large wood/glass sliding doors provide a seamless transition from the great room to the great outdoors! Casual, inviting furniture completes the sense of being home.
An updated spacious kitchen, with large Brazilian granite counter areas and island meets all our cooking needs, space for chefs' classes and demos, and a large, in wall plasma screen slides out to further enhance any audio/video/computer presentations.
Our hip, garden level suite provides a special “cigar bar” ambiance where men can find a place of their own amidst fine leather furniture, huge old beams, masculine hues, on exotic leopard carpeting. Add a humidor and bar set up alongside the large, hidden TV which emerges from a giant leather chest; high tech games and surround sound system add to the fun; lock off privacy suite includes a full bathroom & mirrors, clothing armoire & extra kitchen; exits right out to the Epic Lawn, the place for sports, large party dining and dancing outdoors; glimpse a most intriguing Gorge perspective via the Griffin’s “secret” tunnel!

- Convertible Bed: In our garden suite downstairs a day bed converts from comfy lounging into a double or two twins for a good night's sleep. It includes two excellent, full sized twin mattresses (not pullout sofa type!) one that pops up when necessary.

Year Purchased: 1986
My '59 Caddy is a great representation of the Hood River "me". I came up to windsurf over 20 years ago in it, fell in love with the Gorge, (a local painted it up as "the fish" caddy" and have had a home there ever since! I've owned and renovated a number of them over the years actually, rented them to wonderful residents as my business On The Hood, Inc. grew. In time they have come and gone with ONE exception!!! The Griffin House in its most spectacular location captured my heart permanently and will always be a family, kids and friends retreat now shared with a few, special VRBO new friends too!
