This place was amazing! large enough for 2 families, we brought our three teen girls and a couple of friends. Very clean and spacious. The master suite was unreal! The jacuzzi tub room all to itself in the secluded corner was a treat. The kids had plenty of room and bathrooms to avoid fights and keep out of each others way. The loft area was used a lot as the only TV was up there, and the kitchen was big enough for everyone to use while I was cooking. I loved the large gas grill on the deck and the fire pit at the lake. We really enjoyed the beautiful blue water and the private beach (just a short walk, but note it is across the road.) The property is a large and lovely one and in a great place, close to town and just before a stop sign. The only drawback to our stay was the lack of a place to park the boats, the waves are very strong and my husband had to rent a spot from a reluctant resort owner. (Mary said she would try to buy one.) We had perfect weather and a memorable stay. I would love to be able to return with another larger group because we could have for sure accommodated more people. Nice laundry facility. Note :if you have small kids, I would recommend water shoes because we collected quite a few zebra mussels while hanging out in the water- our contribution to a safer waterfront, but they can be sharp and dangerous to those unfamiliar with them (most lakes in Michigan have them these days.)Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

I have stayed at the Crystal Lake Lodge now in all seasons! My winter adventure included ice skating right out front on Crystal Lake, downhill skiing at Crystal Mountain, cross country skiing at Sleeping Bear National Park on several trails leading out to Lake Michigan, snowshoeing out the back door into the woods around Round Lake, sitting by the warm fire in the living room and cuddeling by the fire in the master suite! My spring visit was facinating watching all the wild flowers pop and mushrooming right out back! Nights were cool but the days were warm and sunny. My summer visit was awesome as a bought a kayak and learned to paddle in the shallows of Crystal where I knew I could still touch! Coffee on the beach, after a run, every morning and wine on the beach to watch the sun go down. My fall visits have been the most peaceful! I paddled out back on Round Lake at sunset with the most glorious color show ever! I've sent Mary photos for the web-site, enjoy. I love the fact that I can vacation and work at the same time, the wireless internet makes that possible. I often set up in the solarium to work where I can look out into the woods and out to Round Lake, I've see eagles, deer, and a bobcat, a pretty awesome office view! I've enjoyed cooking in the 70's vintage kitchen but I have also tried some very wonderful local restaurants. I love the lake and the woods and the spirit of the area! Mary is a great host and very responsive to any questions about the lodge or the local area. Every time I have stayed here the lodge is clean and inviting. The beach is already lovely but her plans for waterfront enhancements for next season sound terrific. I like the fact that she always asks for suggestions on how she can improve the amenities to enhance my next visit, now that's customer service. Thanks Mary! Looking forward to my ski club adventure at the lodge this winter, I think the gang is all going to love it!
