Our property has two Guesthouse Suites nestled amid lawns and gardens: EAST OF EDEN SUITE is a large guesthouse with a luxury master bedroom and private half bath, large sunroom living area, full kitchen, and full bath (sleeps 6). CANNERY ROW SUITE is a smaller studio-type guesthouse with a large bedroom, separate kitchen area, and full bath (sleeps 4).
The two Guesthouse Suites may be rented separately or rented together to sleep up to 10 people — 2 large master bedroom suites with additional convertible beds, large sunroom living room with convertible bed(s), 2 kitchens, 2.5 bathrooms, and 2 private patio areas (see sleeping arrangement options below).
EAST OF EDEN GUESTHOUSE SUITE
(Suite can sleep up to 6)
Our East of Eden Guesthouse has a spectacular sunroom with views of surrounding hills. There's plenty of comfortable seating and a full-size dining table—you'll feel as if your dining in a lovely garden. The sofas in the sunroom are deep and comfortable — a relaxing place sip a glass of wine at the end of a busy day, curl up with a book, or take a nap. Outside is a large fountain and garden areas—peaceful and relaxing with the sound of water and birdsong. The large private patio area adds additional living space with outdoor furniture and gas barbecue.
EAST OF EDEN has a luxury master bedroom with a king-size bed, sitting area with 2 sofas and a large TV, private half bath, and electric fireplace. The bed faces a beautiful view of the garden and surrounding hills. For additional sleeping in the master bedroom there is a queen convertible bed.
In addition to the master bedroom, the house has a full bath and a sunny full kitchen with breakfast nook. The large sunroom (which can be closed off via a sliding glass door from the kitchen) can be used for an additional sleeping area with a convertible king-size bed and a full size sofa futon. Please note that during the winter months, the sunroom is usually very comfortable during the daytime but cools off at night and cannot be heated (just too much glass and high ceiling).
CANNERY ROW GUESTHOUSE SUITE
(Suite can sleep up to 4)
The Cannery Row Guesthouse Suite (which may be rented separately on in conjunction with the East of Eden described above) is a large, studio suite with separate kitchen room and full bath. There is a queen-size bed, flat-screen TV, and large walk-in closet. A queen size convertible sofa bed provides an additional sleeping option.
The kitchen, which is separated by a sliding glass door from the bedroom, has plenty of cabinet space and full-sized sink, 2 studio-sized refrigerators, microwave, portable electric burner, and coffee pot.
This guesthouse has its own private patio entry area with gas BBQ -- separated from other guesthouse by lovely wood lattice and plants. LOCATION
We are in John Steinbeck's celebrated Pastures of Heaven area (between Monterey and Salinas) is within Monterey Peninsula's prized sunbelt area. It may be foggy in Monterey, Carmel or Pebble Beach, but just 20 minutes away at your garden guesthouse, you'll often have sunny days.
The property is 4 fully fenced acres, with expansive lawn areas, koi pond, and gardens just outside your door— a perfect place to barbecue . . . or just relax with a book and sunbathe when weather permits. You have the feel of being in the country but all the convenience of being close to all the wonders of the Monterey Peninsula: celebrated golf courses, shopping, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Big Sur Coast, and music events, such as the Monterey Jazz Festival. And if you're a racing fan, this property is ideal! We're just 5 minutes from the Laguna Seca Raceway!

EXTRAS
There's a private parking area with room for larger vehicles, such as an RV or a boat. If you need secure storage for bicycles or other large items, a locked, covered carport can be provided. We are pet friendly on 4 fully fenced acres. We provide our guests with free Monterey Aquarium passes (4) and croquet set, which can be set up on the large lawn area.

We provide luxury Egyptian cotton linens, and we wash and steam/sterilize all bed linens and bath towels before the arrival of new guests.
CANCELLATION POLICY
A $500 deposit is required to reserve a guesthouse. This deposit holds your booking and then serves as a damage deposit once you arrive. If there are no damages or additional charges incurred during your stay, your $500 is refunded in full.
Our cancellation policy with regard to the deposit is as follows:
1) If cancelled 60 days before arrival, you will receive a refund of your deposit minus a $75 administration fee and any bank or Paypal fees incurred in processing your deposit amount (3%).
2) If cancelled 59 to 30 days before arrival, you will receive a refund of your deposit minus a $95 administration fee and any bank or Paypal fees incurred in processing your deposit amount (3%).
3) If you cancel fewer than 30 days before arrival, your deposit is not refunded unless the owner is able to rent the guesthouse(s) for the time you reserved.
GENERAL HOUSEKEEPING
There is a $75 cleaning fee per suite for your stay. The grounds make for a wonderful place to romp, please supervise children and pets.

My husband and I stayed in East of Eden for the month of February and spent time with our daughter, son-in-law, grand-daughter and brand new grandson, who live in the area. It was wonderful. We were only a few miles away from our daughter and had a nice quiet place to 'recharge' when we left there. It was the perfect place to stay. Our dog loved it too. He met Elizabeth's puppies. We were close enough to Monterey and Carmel to sightsee when we wanted to and the location of the property, and the view, was great. We would send our friends there and recommend it to anyone looking for nice retreat.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed with Elizabeth during the very busy weekend of the car show events this August. We were so perfectly located to everything we needed to do. The entire trip was awesome. Starting from the moment we arrived at The Monterey Guesthouses. Elizabeth is a beautiful and warm person. Her attention to our every whim was immediate and without question. Her guesthouses make you feel like you're at home only with pampering and luxury. She stocks your kitchen with fresh fruit, drinks and assorted goodies! She has a wonderful spot with lots of beauty surrounding you. This is a must have and we will definitely be returning next year. The most pleasant stay we've ever had anywhere! Lots of space, light, luxury touches, and a warm reception. This guesthouse is just enough off the main road to be private and peaceful, but with easy access to Highway 68 for a straight shot to Monterey, Carmel, and road to Big Sur (about 20 minutes). We loved the free Monterey Aquarium passes. And it would be a perfect location for Car Week, with just a short drive to Laguna Seca. All in all a perfect little jewel of a place. Stayed in the Cannery Row suite in 2011 - best accommodations I've enjoyed in Monterey. Was right next to Laguna Seca raceway too, easy commute to the event each morning. Highly recommended. My extended family of seven adults and four children recently spent the Thanksgiving weekend here and rented both suites. Elizabeth was very gracious and accommodating; she even provided us with a croquet set and other toys that the children were able to play with outside, which shows you how thoughtful she is! The suites were spacious, allowing us to spend wonderful quality time together. The drive to Monterey and Carmel were easy, and coming back to the serene atmosphere of the suites from these busy and bustling areas was so relaxing. I would recommend this location to anyone!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Wow, what a charming place I have stayed in both units and can say they are honestly great. If you like that warm, comfortable, cozy home away from home feel this place is it. The beds are wonderful! From the down comforter to the high end sheets… the best of it all though was waking up to the incredible views out the windows overlooking the rolling hills with all the trees. Both places are nestled on top of a hill that once was a working walnut grove with beautiful old trees. There is even a charming 12 foot fountain on the grounds complete with a small pond. If you are not looking at the hill you are watching the birds play in the fountain. The proprietor is equally charming. She and her puppies will make you feel like you have just come to your favorite relative’s house for a wonderful stay. Truly recommend either place to stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

One of the wonderful souvenirs of our vacation in California is our stay in this Guesthouse. Even more than being ideally situated for visiting the region, we were able to enjoy a lodging that was spacious, comfortable, clean, and very well equipped. About the owner: Elizabeth Ward has lived in the Monterey/Carmel area for more than 40 years. She moved to the Corral de Tierra area 13 years ago, finding this area a hidden, unspoiled gem.
Why the Owner Chose Monterey:
Most people know that the Monterey Bay area is famous for its natural beauty and popular events, but locals know it also has very quirky microclimates. Sunbelt properties close to the ocean, like Corral de Tierra and Carmel Valley, are prized and at a premium. Summer days can be cold and foggy in Pebble Beach or Carmel, and just a few minutes drive inland finds a warm, sunny day. A gloomy day in Salinas turns into a pocket of sunshine a few miles west where we are. The Corral de Tierra area, also known as John Steinbeck's Pastures of Heaven, is a sunny jewel. I've lived on the Peninsula for 40 years — in Carmel Valley, Pebble Beach, Monterey, Pacific Grove — and this is the area I chose for my dreamhome and retirement.
