  • Cute, Romantic, Friendly, and extremely convenient location for enjoying Carmel

"David and Brenda has truly created a a treasure of an experience with Le Petite Papillon! My new wife and I stayed here two nights on our honeymoon while heading up the coast from LA to SF. They welcomed us in person and gave the first of many perfect recommendations for a romantic dinner in Carmel. David even gave us his business card and a "story" to help us get a free drive down 17 mile drive! Great personal touch. As for the accommodations, they were spacious and clean. Lots of historic paintings lined the walls. The cable worked well too. The neighborhood is quaint and just a short 5 minute walk to downtown Carmel. We will definitely return and highly recommend this place for any couple looking for a romantic getaway."

  • Very nice setting

"The setting is really unique for being so close to downtown Carmel; quite tranquil. Our overall impression of the house was a bit mixed. The kitchen could use some updating, like a dishwasher and some basic needs for those who like to prepare meals. We couldn't find a bread knife or baking pans but there were three coffee makers (!). It would also be nice to have extra paper towels and garbage bags; we bought more at the store. The TV in the family room has a green line going down the center, indicating that it's probably going out. If you are going to charge people for linens, a mandatory separate insurance policy, and a cleaning charge, you should build those into the quoted price; otherwise any price comparison isn't equitable. It should be advertised as a 3 bedroom 3 bath for the minimum per night, since the 1 bedroom 1 bath cottage is an additional charge. All the mattresses are very firm, noisy beds; every mattress squeaked (springs?) with the slightest movement. Our family did enjoy our stay, but since it appears that Steve wants to know about his place, we felt it was appropriate that he know about the items we have noted."

  • Lovely, Serene and Quiet

"We had a wonderful weekend reunion in this lovely home. The setting is beautiful, serene and quiet. The home was built in the 1970's by an artist, and has that vibe. Lots of outdoor seating areas. We loved walking the Carmel neighborhoods to see all the unique homes. The Scenic Drive walk along the coast is beautiful! Be prepared to walk uphill to downtown Carmel. It is easiest to walk the blocks in a "zig-zag" fashion, one east-west, one north-south, etc., rather than leaving all the uphill blocks to the end. The owner is very gracious. The home is perfect for any group that needs three bedrooms. Each bedroom and bathroom is in a separate area and feels very private. One thing to note is that there are stairs, both inside and outside, so it may not be appropriate for anyone who is physically impaired."
