  • WOW! Sensory Overload

"We were and are 8 men on a golf trip (along with eating and drinking). We absolutely had a blast staying at the Hacienda. The whole place (including the grounds) would take a year just to take notice of all of the "stuff" that is a part of the property. Cheryl and Peterson were very accommodating and were very attentive to our needs, including bringing us fabulous homemade bread one day. The kitchen and dining area are great and can easily accommodate 15 people or more. The sound system with Pandora was like being at a concert and the grand piano was better than a Steinway. The house is totally unique as to how it was built and it is not cookie cutter anything, including being a little tired in spots. My brother who has always aspired to be a pyromaniac was in heaven; at first we thought the house was a little cold but once he started the fires in the living room fireplace, the outdoor fire pit, the cowboy grill, the kiln(at least we think that is what it was), the GREAT wood fired sauna , the herbal bath and eventually even the wood stove in the teepee the place came alive. I almost forgot that we all enjoyed the hot tub also. The staff was great and every evening the fire wood was replaced and ready to go. The house is gated and sits on a beautiful piece of property so you don't have to worry about locking up or leaving your personal items in the house while you are gone. One night Jack slept in the teepee with the wood stove and memory foam mattress and said it was his best nights sleep. We will probably come back next year and do it again, I believe it is the type of property that will improve the more you understand it. The things I think that we're a little bit of a challenge that made my rating a 4 instead of a 5 are: for 8 men that do not like sharing rooms we did have two shared rooms and one did not have a restroom attached to it, the sleeper couch could be more comfortable. For several couples this would not be an issue. Overall the golf, food and wine were terrific but the Hacienda made our trip memorable!"

  • Perfect Location !

"We so enjoyed The Cottage! The location for us could not have been better. We walked everyday to the beach and had our after dinner walk around Scenic to end each evening. The house it's self is wonderfully historic, with such a feel of "Old Carmel" ! We have been coming to Carmel for 30 years and this trip was for the Centennial. The Cottage made us feel even more apart of the 100 years celebration! When we saw the cottage was a Julia Morgan, we added San Simeon to our trip before we arrived. And you must go over to Pacific Grove and walk through the Asilomar Convention Center! Then you will really see Julia Morgan in the cottage. After 30 years, this was one of the most memorable ! Thank you Aunt Etta!"

  • Wonderful, Peaceful, Romantic Stay

"My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Tuckaway in September 2016, and our only regret is that it was way too short a stay. The terraced gardens and luxurious seating provided was the perfect place to watch the sun go down and to stargaze. Bill has done an incredible job with the landscaping, and the gardens are perfectly manicured. A real pleasure to relax in those surroundings. Once inside, there is real attention to detail, and there is so much comfort in the relatively small space. We loved it. The bed is super comfortable, ensuring a good nights sleep, and the bathroom has a good shower and everything you could need. Comfortable chairs for two should you want to stay inside and watch TV, and more than adequate and well equipped kitchen and dining areas make this a great space to eat in and breakfast. The whole place oozes calm and tranquility. We were genuinely disappointed to be leaving. Bill was on hand if you needed anything, but totally discreet. His advice on places to visit were excellent too (we would have been sad indeed to have missed breakfast at Deetjuns on the way down Highway 1 had it not been recommended by Bill). All in all, one of our best VRBO / Homeaway experiences (and we have had many now). Thank you so much Bill, and we hope to come again in future. K & N"

From the amazing view that you wake up to, the perfect location and the welcome basket with wine, Judy's place is absolutely the best! Thank you for a wonderful stay Judy.
