Property description

Two story, 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home with additional sleeping cubby and downstairs bunkroom/den (also known as a child/teen/mens-cave, which is located on what is the lowest level of the house...ground level homes are not allowed to be built on the island) with an outdoor enclosed shower with hot/cold water. NEW CARPET INSTALLED THIS FALL! Property faces the concrete bulkheaded canal which runs between Scotland and Newport Streets, with beach access being located at the end of Newport Street. The canal runs directly into the Intracoastal Waterway, with an inlet located approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile east for access to the ocean. Sleeping beds available for 20-22, including the cubby which has mattresses only. All bed linens and kitchen linens are provided, with blankets for each bed if needed. You will have to provide your own towels. We are the next to last house on the canal on the right side of the street, so traffic is not an issue, which makes it much safer for children. The upstairs deck is enclosed with railings, and a child safety gate is on site, but you would probably feel more secure bringing your own safety gate to put at the top of the stairs to ensure the absolute safety for your little ones. There is no lockable or closeable gate at the top of the stairs. The house also features a downstairs deck which is located under the upper deck which has five adirondack chairs and a small vinyl bench for additional seating. Also located on that deck is a drop down serving table which we use when we grill out or for serving appetizers outside. There are a small child's and a regular sized vinly clad picnic table available. A large iron grill is available, and you are welcome to bring your own gas or electric grill. However, city ordinance prohibits grills of any kind on any level other than ground level.

Boat dock and jet ski dock are available, with fish cleaning table and water access on dock. Multiple cleats on dock, but you must provide your own tie off ropes.

There are over 100 golf courses within a 40 mile radius, with several located from 5 to 15 minutes away. There is a miniature golf course located on island, and just across the causeway is a general aviation airport. A cinema complex is located just a few miles away in Shallotte, and close to the cinema is Planet Fun, which is a arcade/grill type of entertainment complex. There is a bowling alley also located in Shallotte, along with lots of really good restaurants. Additionally, there is a large family owned produce market located on Highway 17 right at the turn-off to go to Ocean Isle Beach, which carries every imaginable kind of fresh, locally grown produce

We are located about ten to fifteen minutes from Calabash, NC, home of some of the finest seafood restaurants, about 45 minutes from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and about an hour from Wilmington, NC, all accessed from US 17 highway. On the island are located several restaurants, a couple of which have boat docks so you are able to park your boat and go up to eat. Pets are not allowed on Ocean Isle Beach from Memorial Day until Labor Day, nor are large tents allowed. Small and medium sized umbrellas are allowed, and are available for rent at some of the local shops. There is a large grocery store located across the Causeway leading into Ocean Isle, and there is a convenience store with boat docks for fueling up boats and jet skis located on the island. We also have an ABC store for those who might be so inclined. There is one church on island, and from Memorial Day through Labor Day, there are two different sites where church services are held on the beach on Sunday mornings.

About the owner: We are a family of five with a large extended family. We built this house with the best of materials and used the most highly recommended builder in Brunswick County. The house was built with family gatherings in mind, hence the reason for all the bunk beds and sleeping cubby. It has been regularly maintained and taken good care of, and has provided us many years of beach memories and fun. This is the first year that we have opened the house up for rentals, but with our children all adults now, and with everybody's schedules, we are not as able to go down as much as we used to, so we decided to open the property up for rentals, to make the most use of the property, and to support the increasing insurance and tax costs.

Why the Owner Chose Ocean Isle Beach:
We love the beach, and my husband grew up going to Ocean Isle to his grandmother's house, which was then located on the waterway side of the island, and which was one of the oldest buildings in Brunswick County. It has always felt like a second home to our family, and has provided many hours of fishing, crabbing, swimming, waterskiing and sun bathing fun. The island has a small town feel to it, but is located close enough to the larger towns so that a day of shopping or antique browsing is easy. The beach has been renourished in the past five years, and it is very wide now, which gives you a lot of privacy while sunbathing. The island is very quite in the spring and fall and real, real quite in the winter, and relatively quite in the summer!

We like to play on the beach, swim, fish, crab, boat,ski, watertube, eat, eat, eat, and just relax and enjoy ourselves. Everyone does their own thing during the day, and then we all tend to gather back together late afternoon for cocktails and a large dinner together. The deck is a wonderful place to gather with friends and/or family members and tell jokes, tell and retell stories,play guitars and sing and, on occasion, learn to dance!
