We had a very peaceful weekend mountain getaway at the Roaring Fork Chalet. The chalet was conveniently located to the Black Mountain campground trailhead to go up and down Mt Mitchell. Also, very close to the Roaring Fork waterfall which was a delightful evening stroll. The chalet itself was nicely decorated with wood furniture. Very comfortable and quiet. We were able to make our meals in the kitchen and sit out on the beautiful deck. There was a nice grill there too. There were not any places to eat in the area (Mt Mitchell Golf Course has limited hours) and the grocery store is not too close, but, as long as you bring your groceries and plan ahead, no problem. We stayed at the end of July but didn't need the air conditioning window units; the cabin was nice and cool for sleeping. Overall, great stay, very comfortable, and pleasant. We will visit again and recommend it to friends!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We definitely enjoyed our stay at the Chalet, only complaint was that there is only one bathroom but we got over it really fast. There is plenty to do in the area from hiking to mountain biking, we went for a family hike to Roaring Fork Falls where the kids got to play in the waterfall. At night we roasted marshmallows and enjoyed a good laugh under the stars. If your looking for an escape from the every day this place is it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Upon arrival of the property (which was around 5pm), the outside of the property did not look kept up but we gave the benefit of the doubt. We entered through the back door, and the cabin smelled very musky/dirty. Made our way into the kitchen to find mice droppings in nearly every corner, plates from cabinets were still dirty/greasy, the bathroom toilet would not flush, the blankets on the beds obviously had not been washed in some time. The only reason we spent the night there was because it was too dangerous and dark to make our way out. First thing the next morning, we left. I emailed the owner twice with no response even to this day which I emailed him again this morning with no response. The pictures on the website are totally mischaracter of the true property inside and out. I have always loved this site, but after this experience will not use it again. I will not recommend this site or property again. I have used it three times prior all with great reviews. I do not believe that these owners should have the right to ruin vacations and take money for misrepresentation and I will everything in my power to bring justice to this matter. That was two days of my life and my hard earned vacation that was ruined thanks to these people.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at Ron's Chalet for the second time in as many years. Once again we had a great time. The cabin is perfect if you are looking to get away from it all and it is located near many great hiking trails and waterfalls. Can't wait until our next trip.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: It's always a pleasure to deal with John. He always leaves the house as clean as he found it. Thanks again John!

We had a nice, relaxing weekend at this chalet. The views of the mountain are beautiful. Even though there are neighbors within view, it feels as though you've escaped to your very own mountain retreat. We grilled kabobs, made s'mores and stayed warm sitting by the outdoor fire pit. Ron was prompt and friendly with all communication. I would describe the chalet as rustic with all the necessary amenities needed to have a memorable, relaxing, and refreshing stay. The only downside was that our stay was just too short.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: George was a total pleasure to deal with from the very beginning. He described the ideal getaway for he and his wife and I'm very happy that the chalet created some everlasting memories for them. I sincerely hope they visit the chalet again very soon! Ron

We had an enjoyable family weekend in this cosy little Swiss style chalet. The view must be great when the sun is out. It's really a place for pet lovers, so don't mind some poo around the house. You can buy some food and drinks at the nearby gas station (closed Sundays, no alcohol license). Although a cleaning fee is included in the rent, you have to take all your garbage with you when you leave.Recommended for: Pet owners.

If you're looking to get away from it all...this is the place. Being able to get away from the hassle of cell phones was an added bonus. The chalet was everything we expected and more....you can tell the owners put a lot of thought into what their guests would need. Can't wait to visit again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you for your compliments. We do strive to make the chalet comfortable for our guests. Thank you! - Ron

What a great get away that is exciting and relaxing. We fished in the morning and played golf at the Mt Mitchell golf course in the afternoon which is only minutes away. We grilled out on the deck with a beautiful view, I would suggest this to anyone who is looking a place to get away and have a peaceful and relaxing vacation. Great place to stay and looking forward to get back! The house is equipped with all the necessities one could ask for.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Why the Owner Chose Burnsville:
I bought this chalet in order to get away from it all. Getting back to nature, hiking, fishing and enjoying a round of golf every now and then was a priority.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
I enjoy the peace and quite. The fresh air and there's always a gentle cool breeze blowing. Sitting on the front deck and looking at the peak of Mt Mitchell has always relaxed me as well as my family and friends.
