About this property

Mountain Views and Tranquil Sounds of the South Toe River

Our tranquil home is nestled among rhododendron on the Mt Mitchell Golf Course (golf course currently closed due to Helene). Sit on the wide deck and listen to the rapids on the crystal clear South Toe River, gaze at the Black Mountains and, just across the golf course, the river, watch the woodpeckers, and just soak in the mild warmth of a Springtime climate that lasts all summer. We are located in a small neighborhood with WALKABLE roads and many people like to take walks on the golf cart paths.

The Master bedroom, kitchen, and living room are all on the main level, with just one step up from the driveway to the kitchen.

For rainy days, we have two living areas with great Wifi, TVs and access to various main streaming services for movies and shows. Main floor primary bedroom, with additional spacious living area and 2 bedrooms downstairs. Main living and dining furniture and downstairs couch are all new and so comfy. Two breathtaking waterfalls are within a mile or two of the property (but one is closed due to Helene); a great opportunity to play in the crystal clear water. We have enjoyed renting houses in this area before buying this house that was built in 1984, and we're so excited to offer a relaxing, high quality experience for our guests.

The indoor fireplace is not available for use as it is a complicated Buck stove; the electric heat in the house is excellent. Outdoor fire pit is available!

Beautiful home in a peaceful setting with sweeping views of the mountains from the living room and kitchen areas and huge wrap around deck. Private and well-appointed for cooking meals for our family while we were there. All ages in our family group really enjoyed this place. The perfect stay!

Our four days here at “My11thHeaven” was all we hoped and more! A peaceful setting, we heard the river, woodpeckers, turkey and enjoyed the golfers as they came through the 11th green. Short trips to Burnsville and Little Switzerland were fun outings and we slept very comfortably every night. A wonderful stay!

Relaxing stay at 11th Heaven

We stayed a week at this wonderful mountain home and enjoyed every minute. The owners thought of everything to make their guests comfortable. It was the perfect location to be based at for a few rounds of golf, hiking to nearby waterfalls and even a day trip to Asheville. If we return to the area we would love to stay at this property again!

Great place for a golf/hiking getaway!

We loved our stay! It was very clean and had a well equipped kitchen. We had 6 people and had all our meals there. There was ample dishes/silverware, etc. without having to constantly wash to reuse. The beds were comfortable too. Would definitely book again!

Beautiful Location Overlooking the 11th Green

Beautiful views of the golf course and mountain range. Hiking trails nearby and many more hiking and scenic overlook options off the Blue Ridge Parkway within 15 minutes. The house was very clean and had all the conveniences. Owner was very nice and easy to work with. Loved it and will be back.

The property is spectacular & and the hostess even more spectacular. Courtney was always very quick & cordial in responding to my questions. The home is emaculate , very private & quiet location. Our favorite house..

Been staying at the Mount Mitchell golf club since the 80's renting houses and condos for yearly golf trips. This house was our all time favorite. It was clean, stocked with everything we needed, (we cooked all of our meals), and the location above #11 green with the mountains behind it was excellent. We had deer around the house and could hear turkeys and the sound of the river. We're planning another trip in the fall and hope to rent this house again!

Mountain home on the course

Wonderful house with a great deck on the 11th green at Mt. Mitchell. Super convenient for a golf group- a five minute drive to the clubhouse, and you get a preview of the #11 pin placement. Clean and comfortable with beautiful landscaping and a great firepit in the back. Be sure to take a walk around the neighborhood- mountain laurels in full bloom in late May/early June in the backyard here and all around the loop. We will be back!

CLEAN COMFORTABLE HOME

The house was very nice. The mountain views were very good. Beds were comfortable and plenty of hot water. Kitchen appliances were good. The only real complaint is the content available on the TV. Many of the rental homes do not offer plan simple TV stations and this was one of them. At least one local station with weather etc. would be nice.

We are from Texas and Michigan, but we got to beautiful North Carolina as fast as we could. Currently living in the Raleigh area with our 2 kids, we escape to our peaceful 11th Heaven for hiking, tubing, etc., every chance we get. We bought this house in hopes of moving out here full-time in the next few years, and we'd love to share it with guests in the meantime. Yancey county is an undiscovered GEM with very few crowds and lots of nearby natural beauty!

Why they chose this property

We discovered this area during the pandemic -- we'd been to Boone and to Asheville and they're great, but we really craved an area that is charming, but not too touristy...and we found it! I particularly wanted a home by the South Toe River because of its' beautiful, clear water.

What makes this property unique

The house is in a beautiful golf course community (currently closed due to Helene) with paved roads with lots of walkability. We love riding our bikes up South Toe River Rd along the river (gravel all the way), tubing down the river in the neighborhood or other drop-ins along hwy 80 (and dodging flying golf balls), and swimming at Carolina Hemlocks. We love that the house is close enough to hear the river, but not in the flood zone....just a quick walk down the cart path outside of golfing hours. We are also one of the few updated properties in the area, with new living room and dining room furniture, new floors upstairs, and all-new paint as well as new deck railing and stairs. It is so fun to sit outside and take walks through the neighborhood. House is set well back from the road, not visible from road.
