The pictures are a perfect representation. It was perfect for 2 people and our dog. The new bed is phenomenal. You will never find this quality in a hotel near Bayfield. All the furniture was very comfortable and clean. The cabin in gener was also very clean. We couldn't tell that there were dogs in the cabin berfore our stay. The outside is dog friendly and one morning we saw a deer at the end of the driveway.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Kevin - people are certainly loving the new bed - beyond Ritz Carlton quality I'd guess (though I never stayed at a Ritz) :-) The most important thing to me when I stay at a place is a very comfy bed - so that is why I went all out on the bed... Glad you enjoyed your stay! Rick

My husband and I enjoyed a quick getaway to Bayfield and stayed in Rick's cabin. The cabin was gorgeous, and you can tell that Rick paid attention to every exquisite detail. We ventured into Bayfield and enjoyed dinner at Ethel's but we spent most of our time enjoying the peace and serenity of the cabin. It was early May when we went. We look forward to visiting when it's warm enough to bike and kayak.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks very much for your nice comments. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay!

Remarkable, newly remodeled Bayfield cabin with all the comforts of home, and then some! My husband, dog, and I really relished our time in the cabin. We had over a foot of fresh snow during our stay, which was great because we wanted to winter hike and snow shoe. There is a path through the woods about 100 or so yards out the front door, taking you to the lake and river. It was beautiful. We spent all day playing in the fresh snow, and spent our evenings near the fire in the relaxing cabin. We definately want to come again and experience a different season. I'm thinkin Fall would be spectacular as well. Thank you Rick for the use of your cabin.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you very much for the nice comments James & Risa. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! Rick

Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at the cabin ~ You did an incredible job with the remodel. It was just our aesthetic. Cozy, modern, and rustic all rolled into one. The thing I really appreciated was the attention to the lighting. I love dimmers and soft light which was done perfectly in the cabin. It was a great home away from home and we hope to stay again in the near future. The sled dog races were great and Brian networked with a team of mushers and will likely help them out at future races as well as get some sled time himself. We were intentionally off the grid at your cabin - which was what we wanted. The nature views were very serene. Our dog loved it too! It was perfect! You were very professional and timely in your communication and that was noticed and appreciated.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you -- I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! I enjoyed designing it to be inspirational.

The cabin was creatively renovated and well furnished. Large windows look out over a wooded lot that feels very secluded. Lots of ammenities -- Wi-Fi, satellite radio, movies on-demand, quartzite walls, geothermal heating. It's also near all of the area's attractions and activities -- hiking, biking, skiing, Rasberry Beach, sea caves, etc. It's also pet-friendly. Fantastic place. Great value. HIGHLY recommended. Looking forward to our next visit.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Kathleen - I'm glad you and your husband enjoyed your stay! I made the windows larger than they used to be to have great views of the trees.

Rick, My husband and self had a wonderful time on our vacation. Your cabin and it's location is just Beautiful. Thank you for the full refund on our deposit as well. I was a little worried about that because I realized that after we got home last night, and started unpacking our grocery items, that there were a couple of things missing. We might have left those things in the door of the fridge. I apologize about that and hope it wasn't any trouble for the cleaning person to dispose of those things. Tried to make sure the cabin was left as clean and sharp as when we walked in on Monday night. We never made it down to the beach across the road from the cabin, but could still see the sunrise and hear and see the water through the trees. We did visit (beautiful) Cornucopia beach Wed. afternoon and Bayview beach on the way out yesterday morning. I can't wait to show pics and share our vacation with family and friends and will highly recommend your cabin to them! Thanks So Much, The Korte's Des Moines, IowaRecommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Deb - glad you enjoyed your stay. I'm currently up at the cabin having the attic super insulated, storm doors put on, stacking a couple cords of wood, getting handles put on the knotty cherry kitchen cabinets, & putting in remote fault monitoring & remote control for the geothermal from my Iphone. Hope I don't pocket dial the temp up on someone remotely with the Iphone :-) Like 98% of my renters this year - you left the place in great shape - so no worries mate (as they say in Australia) Sorry you forgot some food in the fridge. Too bad it can't be shipped back - though we do ship back a left personal item when that happens.

Bayfield is a small town in northern Wisconsin on the shore lake superior next to the Apostle islands national lake shore. My wife and I have been going up their since our honeymoon 13 years ago and have enjoyed it very much. This year we decided to rent a small cabin off the beaten path north of red cliff. We have two small children and a taste for the outdoors so Housers bayfield cabin looked to fit the bill. The cabin is not big but is wonderfully updated and fit my family well. The best amenity to this place is the isolation and quiet. A short walk to Raspberry bay for a swim and or kayak will reward you with a beautiful view of the Apostle islands and raspberry light house in the distance. You can also kayak across the bay to some nice little caves and large rock formations. I also encountered a pair of bald eagles nesting on that side of the bay. Lots of wild life in and around the river too which is another fun paddle. On return to the cabin at night or after an outing it was a great to relax in the comfortable couch in the living room and listen to good music from Ricks Pandora connection. WiFi was also a plus for my wife to get e-mail. The work that has been done to the cabin is well done and made for a great getaway for our little family. If you want quiet and cozy this is the place. Thanks Rick for a fun and enjoyable stay.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Thank you Patrick - I'm glad you and your wife and kids enjoyed your stay. That was great that you saw a couple of bald eagles and explored the river and caves with your kayak. As a musician, I enjoy having a good sound system and selection of songs for people to choose from to make their stay more enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing you next year. Rick

This was one of the best vacations we have ever had. The owner was very helpful, giving us good directions and tips for things to do in the area, and e-mailing us things we could do during our stay such as local music and events, and other things. The cabin has a warm and cozy feeling to it, with the pine ceilings and the color of the stone and other walls which was soothing. Loved the dimmer when I was in bed to turn off the overhead lights so I didn't have to get out of bed when I was done with my book. The view out the bedroom window and the other windows is very nice, with views of pine and maple trees. We used the back deck dinette set for breakfast and dinner. The cabin was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We saw a deer in the ravine while we were here! The beach was like our own, and the water was warmer than typical Lake Superior water, perhaps because it is shallow off the beach. Loved the great music and music selections in the living room and bedroom. We took a ferry to Madeline Island and explored the island with our bikes which was fun, but we mostly chilled out at the cabin since it was so relaxing there. We plan on returning next year, and telling our friends about this great place.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
