Twain Harte Lodge is full of Rustic charm! Besides its cabin decor, warmth, and space, Twain Harte Lodge is a 4 minute walk to the village and comes with Twain Harte Lake membership. You will enjoy the walk to the charming village miniature golf with the family or the 9-hole course for a morning round. It's great to leave the car behind and head to the nearby restaurants and cafes. And the lake is just great enjoyment; safe and well-maintained and a special delight for the minnows in the family.
The house is newly remodeled with refurbished kitchen and new appliances. It is fully stocked with all the tools you'll want including a second oven, food processor, griddle, and much more. Wireless covers your internet connection needs.
The 'Great Room' is just that - big enough for sitting and chatting in front of the big stone fireplace and dining comfortably with up to 12 or more by extending the second table.
The downstairs master bedroom suite has french doors onto the deck. Its private bathroom comes with a jacuzzi tub, double sinks and shower. Lots of space and light in this room make for easy living with a twin bed that accompanies the queen adding a level of flexibility if you have a little one who needs special attention.
The deck is huge. The main section has an outdoor table that seats 14. The deck's second level bench area circles a backyard tree and the side deck has 2 gas barbecues to handle all the burgers and fish fillets that you'll need to feed the crowd.
The family room is cozy and has a large flat panel HD TV, surround sound, bluray, books and games.
The kids will love the vaulted ceiling dorm room with 2 sets of bunk beds and a trundle-day bed (sleeping total of 6), flat panel TV of their own, movies, games, and books for all young ages. Its skylights make it bright and it is decorated with colors that let the kids know we were thinking of the fun time they will have in Twain Harte.
The 3rd bedroom is full of natural light and has a grand queen bed, walk in closet and AC with bathroom across the hall.
The 4th bedroom sleeps 2 in a knotty pine environment.
All in all, the 3200 sq feet of indoor space ensures that everyone has room for group fun or to escape for some solitary reading.
The yard is big and ready for horseshoes or tossing a baseball. Mitts, sticks, balls, and rackets are in the sports box ready to use.
What will you need when you arrive? Not much. Twain Harte Lodge provides clean linens and towels, beach chairs and umbrellas. A washer and dryer will keep the linen supply fresh through your stay. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own linens, if you prefer.
As for the local attractions, you will love the area for its authenticity and unspoiled approach to family entertainment and amusement. Columbia State Park is a fun historic western attraction with gold panning, stagecoach, blacksmith, jail, and shops. Jamestown has the steam train ride. Sonora's old town is nice for antiquing and dining and Sonora's shopping area has a modern Cineplex. Dodge Ridge ski area is a twenty minute drive. Lakes for boating, Angels Camp, Murphys, the caverns and, of course, Yosemite National Park make for great day trips and typically take an hour or less to reach.
Twain Harte has its Friday night concerts in the park just a walk away. And for those looking for even more, the casino 6 miles away in Tuolumne City offers the expected gaming and a family area with arcade and bluelight bowling alley. Can't go wrong with that.
I must also mention the area's live theatre productions. They are consistently excellent and produced at a very high level. And there are special concerts and events that happen throughout the year all around the gold country.
The photos will tell you more about Twain Harte Lodge and the special vacation that your family and friends will have here.

About the owner: As a small child, my parents took regular Winter vacations to the Twain Harte-Dodge Ridge areas. I learned to ski from the age of 6 there with my dad as my instructor. He grew up in Denmark and appreciated the steep rugged Sierras in place of his homeland hills. An avid ice skater from boyhood, he skated backwards and circles around us up at Long Barn ice rink. In recent years known by the kids as Grandpa Svend, he purchased a home in Twain Harte for the family to have our wonderful Christmas trip each year and to share with the grandkids his love of skiing.
Though Twain Harte was our 'Winter Place', I have now become familiar with it's Summer beauty and lake activities. My young grandchildren love the water, and Twain Harte Lake is a most special place. The clean beach and lifeguards, not to mention 'The Rock' make it a grand Summer day for all!
Most of all, I love the scent of cedars when we drive into the village in the Summer! It wafts in on the warm breeze saying, 'It's time to relax and enjoy family! All the rest can just wait!'
Why the Owner Chose Twain Harte: My husband and I purchased our first Twain Harte cabin-home three years ago. Though very small, we rebuilt it into a truly lovely mountain cabin. When we found that the lodge was for sale and walked through it, we saw a wonderful opportunity to take over a great rental property. We loved the great room the moment we walked in. It gave me an old-world feel, and the architecture is similar to a Scandinavian Lodge which was fitting for my Danish blood and my husband's Norwegian roots. We are working each visit to add more mountain charm to our evolving Twain Harte Lodge and we are thrilled to be the proprietors of such a lovely place!
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge: The lake is a special place to take kids, grandparents and friends. With the clean beach, shade trees and lifeguard, everyone has a great time! There's even a snack shack!
The 9 holes of golf in the middle of Twain Harte doesn't overwhelm players at any level and you can walk from Twain Harte Lodge to the club.
Most of all, you will love the community. The year-round residents are really great...friendly and always helpful and caring. Twain Harte is a wonderful place for family and friends to wine, dine and play. It is a special little place with a BIG reputation for making new memories!
