* Attention potential Oceanfront renters* If you typically rent Oceanfront or are looking for an Oceanfront rental we encourage you to consider this Soundfront home. if you're renting in the peak summer weeks we can understand your desire for an Oceanfront home, however if you're coming any of the other 9 months of the year, this soundfront home is often Better than Oceanfront! its sheltered from the cold winds that come off the ocean from sept to may, the water is warmer and safer to swim in the shoulder season. if you do want to go to the less inviting Ocean its ONLY 1700 feet to beach, about the closest soundfront home you'll find to the beach! Please note though: unlike the oceanfront beaches, property lines do extend to the water on the soundfront. so please abide by the property line markers. our property extends 30 feet from our pier on either side. our neighbor to the north prohibits trespassing but will rent his beach frontage to you for $1000 per week, otherwise you must stay off his property, thanks!
its a Sunday turnover so you can avoid that saturday traffic mess in the summer...

Great place to stay. Very quiet neighborhood atmosphere. Easy walk across the street to the beach. Gorgeous sunsets you don't see on the beach side.Caretaker was very responsive to repair needs. Wish kitchen had been as clean as the rest of the house.

The house is wonderful. We enjoyed the puzzles. Walking was easy and great exercise. Views were spectacular. We had some Kayakers who went out despite the cold and windy weather. Watched a movie in the theater which was great. Missing some supplies but we were able to make do and it was a great experience.

7 Hapy Ladies September 2012
Each year the 7 of us travel together and spend a girl's week. This year we enjoyed the comforts of West Ridge. Everyone loved the great room, kitchen and dining area on the 3rd floor with the wonderful windows and views of the Currituck Sound. It seemed each day the sunset was more spectacular than the previous. We made use of the kitchen, grill and wine cooler and loved sitting out on the decks and around the pool relaxing. The yard was lovely and so private we hardly noticed our neighbors. The home is located in an amazing section of the Outer Banks and we had our choice of the private beach or a short walk to the ocean. The gazebo was a favorite early morning place. It is so serene and peaceful there. The caretaker, Nick, was quick to respond to a couple of small requests and very pleasant to work with. We went jet sking and parasailing just down the road and the Wild Horse Tour in Corolla was also a big hit. Sorry to say we did not find time for the hot tub. But maybe next year! We would highly recommend this property to anyone coming to the Outer Banks.

Great place for a large gathering
Great place for a large gathering
West Ridge was a great place for our 24 person reunion. There was plenty of space for everyone and the kitchen was always bustling with activity. It was close to various amenities and even though it rained a couple of days we found plenty to do in Kitty Hawk and Corolla. I would definitely recommend it for those interested in spending a great week on the outer banks.

Amazing Family vacation
Amazing Family vacation
We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday with his entire family and could not have been more pleased. Everyone was thrilled with the accomodations, the bedrooms were spacious, the dining area/living room area was wonderful for guests of all ages. We especially appreciated the amazing gourmet kitchen; we cooked for an average of 20 people 3 times a day and never felt crowded in either the kitchen or around the table. That kitchen is stocked with everything you need! The location on the sound is breathtaking-we enjoyed a sunset every night on the back patio. It was also a very close walk to the beach (less than 5 minutes). The elevator was a must for my husbands parents and we were so grateful for it. Having our own sound beach with kayaks was great. This was our first trip to OBX and I won't have to look for another house again. We will be back!

An Amazing Trip!
An Amazing Trip!
We all had an amazing time. The house was perfect for our group and we enjoyed all of the amenities of the house. One of our favorite things to do was take late night swims and enjoy the stars. We watched movies in the theatre and made delicious dinners in their amazing kitchen. With such a large group, it was so nice to have 2 dishwashers. It made clean up a breeze! We had to call the caretaker only once because of an issue with the projector and it was immediately fixed. Even prior to our trip, the homeowner answered all of our questions and was always so polite. We really enjoyed working with him. We would give this house 5 stars, but we had a couple of small issues. They mostly stemmed from the wedding that was held prior to our arrival. There were a ton of flies in the house, trash hidden all over the house and outside (which resulted in fruit flies), and blinds were broken. We understand that this was out of the control of the homeowner. When we arrived at 4 PM the housekeepers were still working hard and trying to have the house perfect for our arrival. We’d defiantly consider coming back and we wouldn’t hold these minor issues against the owner.

Owner response: Hey Guys, thanks for the feedback. there was one heck of a large and fun loving wedding there before you. very sorry about that. we're trying to replace those vertical blinds with curtains this winter so they're not so fragile.
Hurricane Irene Didn't Thwart Us!
Hurricane Irene Didn't Thwart Us!
We had a wonderful trip planned and we were able to enjoy most of it before Hurricane Irene put an wrinkle in our plans. However, we had 4 nights and 5 days in at the house. Everything was wonderful. Tons of space/materials for cooking and great outside space (gated pool/spa) etc. All told, we had a wonderful experience. We had several conversations with the property manager (leaking dishwasher) which were addressed immediately, pre-Hurricane. The plumber even looked at a leaking faucet while he was there. The house is in a great location and we would absolutely stay there again! And we are so happy to know that the house sustained no damage from Hurricane Irene, clearly the house has good karma! Also, extremely pet friendly (if you pay the deposit!).

My family just returned from a weeks vacation. We found the property to be even better than it looked on the website. We found the location to be perfect; a very short walk to the ocean and the beach on the sound was perfect for 5 children under ten to play on while we relaxed on the dock. The pool was a perfect temp, we had it heated, because of the time of year , and was used whenever we weren't at the beach. We especially loved the kitchen, and found it well equipped for preparing meals with four cooks at a time working in the large space. We also found the house to be very quiet from room to room; the kids never woke anyone up, and they loved the theatre. We definitely recommend this rental to anyone. We can't wait to go back.

We had a large group of 5 families (10 adults and 9 kids) and sayed 5 nights over Eater weekend and had so much room. Having 5 rooms with King beds was perfect. The house is beautiful and well maintained. Both the owner and caretaker were great, answering questions we had. It is a easy walk to the ocean side. We enjoyed the fishing pier and kayaks! Much time was spent out there crabbing! The pool and hotub were perfect for all of us. Some of our group have never sayed at a large home on vacations and are now sold on it. We all agree we would reccommned this property!

Great Family Home
Great Family Home
We had a wonderful stay at West Ridge. The property is just as beautiful as the pictures shown. Our kids had a great time on the sound kayaking and fishing. The view of the sunset is absolutely amazing. We didn't even visit the oceanfront! The theater room was awesome and our dog loved the backyard. A great family vacation!
