It is always a little gamble when renting out a vacation home; however our entire family was so pleasantly surprised at how comfortable this bungalow actually was! Highlights were the comfortable beds, a cozy living room, and a well laid out kitchen that actually ALLOWED for some good cooking. The owners have thought of everything in the way of comfort for their guests. Our stay could not have been better planned…..a five minute drive to the Frank Irvin Center for graduation ceremonies and under two minutes to get on IH35 for outlet shopping. It was the perfect spot to step back from the chaos of UT activities and take a moment to relax in the peace and quiet while enjoying a cocktail on the front porch swing. This house is a great house to rent in Austin. Convenient location, next to a strip of good restaurants on Manor Road. Easy access to I35. House is well maintained, has a large kitchen and two large bedrooms and a large bathroom.Recommended for: Pet owners, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

We really have zero complaints about this great rental home! We chose this home from the great description, pictures, and price, but were more than surprised when we arrived; the home is in fabulous condition. It’s clean, bright, charmingly decorated and well equipped for any guest. We did not have our children this time, but I can assure you they would have enjoyed this home just as we did. The front porch is great for swinging and watching the world go by. The back yard is just as great with a large deck and yard. There are plenty of local restaurants nearby, we enjoyed Mi Madres, and downtown is a short drive. Our family stayed for a week and we had a great time. We enjoyed hanging out on the front porch and my 3 year old loved being able to walk to the coffeehouse, to get tacos and vist with the chickens over at East Side Cafe. The house was very clean and uncluttered. Eli came by and dropped off a high chair and booster seat for us when we discovered we'd need them. We would whole-heartedly recommend this place to friends and family!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

I really enjoyed my stay at this cute bungalow. Eli was very communicative throughout the entire process. He was quick to respond to my emails and texts in preparation for my arrival. The house is well-maintained and was clean when we arrived. I stayed for two weeks and loved the experience. A number of colleagues and friends stayed with me from SXSW Interactive through a conference I run on the UT campus after SXSW. Everyone who stayed adored the place. The location was perfect for walking to get coffee, jogging through neighborhoods, getting to UT campus, grabbing a quick bite, and going out for a nice dinner. The porch swing and large back patio were highlights for me and my guests. We spent every night outside, enjoying the perfect spring weather!Did you find this review helpful? This property is well located for downtown, just a short drive with lots of parking in town. We were there for Formula 1 weekend and it was great to come back here after 3 very long days. It fits 4 adults perfectly but I would not recommend it for more than that as there is only 1 bathroom. The house was very clean and had plenty of kitchen items to cook a simple meal. There are 2 nice restaurants within walking distance.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

The house was better then the photos. Very cute and comfortable. It had a great yard for our pets and the added bonus of space in the garage for my husbands' vintage car. We felt very safe in the friendly neighborhood. There were several places to eat within walking distance that we loved. After driving all day, I brilliantly locked our dogs in the house and us outside, Eli was there in a flash with a key and a smile. Thank you for a really positive experience, I would definitely recommend this place to our friends.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

My husband, dog, and I came down to check out Austin for the first time and stayed in this lovely home. It has tons of character and is in perfect location to downtown and all things that are to do in Austin. If we ever come back down we will stay here again, and recommend it for others. The home was clean, and equipped with all that we needed. An extra plus was the bed was super comfy!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Our family of 5 stayed here for two nights. It was perfect for us. We walked to the UT football game (about 1 mile). Loved the porch swing on the front of the house. Also, enjoyed the back porch. It was clean and well maintained. Eli was easy to work with and very accomodating. We will stay here again next time we come to Austin!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, tourists without a car.

My husband, 2 year old daughter, and I spent five months in this house while we searched for a house to buy. Having a fenced in yard for our dogs made this the optimal choice for us over a extended stay hotel. The house is comfortable and has all the amenities one would need for an extended stay without personal belongings. The front porch is spacious and has a great swing that we used daily. We walked to the local, coffee shops and restaurants several times each week. About the owner: Hi there - we're Eli and Amy and we purchased this French Place bungalow back in 1994 and have lived there until only recently when we had to find more space for our growing family. We still consider this our home and look forward to hosting you and helping you explore Austin. We still live nearby and are available for your questions and/or concerns. Your comfort is our top priority. We are active in the local music community and stay plugged into all the latest and greatest Austin has to offer.

Our French Place house is nestled in the quiet French Pl (aka Cherrywood) neighborhood which is a short walk or bike ride to UT and a 5min car, cab, train or bus ride to downtown.
The Unique Benefits at this Bungalow:
Built in 1940, we remodeled the kitchen and bath in 2005 and added all new appliances including a washer and a dryer. It still retains it's '40's charm with original glass doorknobs, high ceilings, wood floors and ceiling fans throughout the house. We built a large deck in the backyard which is a perfect spot for relaxing under the 3, huge post oak trees. The front porch has a custom built porch swing and is a great spot to watch the neighborhood passing by.
