Year Purchased: 2004
About: Welcome to our home! We absolutely love Martinique, it is one of our favorite places on earth. We purchased this house is 2004, closing on it two weeks after Hurricane Ivan destroyed Gulf Shores. While many people would have considered us crazy for buying a home here after the area had be decimated by a major hurricane, the home was untouched. After having spent almost 20 years visiting Gulf Shores annually we finally had a little piece of heaven for ourselves and we didn't want to let it go. We are so glad we didn't. We hope you find the same magic here that we have found.
Why Martinique on the Gulf: Conveniently located away from the manic traffic of busy Gulf Shores, Martinique offers resort accommodations next to the 4000 acre Bon Secour Wilderness area which makes it feel like you've got miles of private beach to explore. Martinique offers a beautiful ocean view pool complex that is a very short walk from our home located on 'The Crescent', a park like area which leads to the beach. With Martinique, what you see is what you get, a beautiful family friendly community where you can kick back and remember what vacation is really supposed to mean. All the homes in Martinique have been named, ours is called 'Bliss' and I hope you will find that feeling when visiting us.
The Unique Benefits at this House: You may wonder why none of the homes in Martinique are Ocean front. The fact is that a rarely seen creature called the Alabama Beach Mouse, resides in the dunes between the Beach and the Ocean View condo's. Environmentalist worked with the developer to create a community that would allow the little creatures to co-exist with the residents. The result has been a beautiful natural space spanned by the boardwalks that take the residents to the beach and allow the mice to do the best they can in the dunes alone. You'll likely never see one of the small creatures, but if you do, be thankful for the partnership. It was only because of our location behind the 3rd set of Dunes that allowed our community to be spared destruction from Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
