  • 3 Night Stay

"Just stayed here this past weekend and it was absolutely perfect. Owner is very respectful and courteous and was willing to help right away when we couldn't figure out the pool filter. We were provided with everything that we could have needed - clean house, clean linens, towels, a fully equipped kitchen/grill, wifi, board games and more. The house is in a nice, quiet spot but also a short drive away from a few beaches and a couple nice town areas. The pool was clean and sunny. We spent a lot of time on the deck, in the pool and there was even a nice space behind the pool area for a badminton net. Can't wait to come back again!"

  • Location, Location, Location...to the beach!

"This was our first time renting a cottage in Montauk as opposed to staying in a hotel. We went with another couple and wanted a place with our own bedrooms with a comfortable common area so that we could eat, hang out and talk and this cottage met the criteria. It was also a short walk to the beach and very secluded from the main road. Alison was there to meet us when we got there and was very helpful with any questions or additional needs that we had. It was clean and quaintly decorated. From what I am told, a lot of the cottages built for only summer use in the similar price range are on the older side, with a rustic feel, and dank smell to them, as was this one. There were 2 bedrooms. The master had a comfortable king size bed, high ceilings and big windows that let in the early light. There were no room darkening shades. So, if you are able to sleep in a fully brightened room it shouldn’t be a problem. There was also a nest or 2 of baby birds living under the roof. Not sure when they leave the nest for good but they tended to get up and started chirping around sunrise (5am) which made sleeping soundly after 5am in the master bedroom a little challenging. The other bedroom was smaller (b/ still a good size) with only 1 window and shades that blocked out the sun. I know that a lot of people prefer a firm/hard mattress but I would consider bringing a foam mattress topper for additional comfort. The kitchen had all the amenities that we needed for our stay and the living room area was very inviting and comfortable. One last thing that didn’t take away from the amazing time we had but did prove to be a bit of an annoyance was the amount of flies that were in the house. When the windows were left open to take advantage of the fresh air/breezes, it appeared that they came in though the small holes in the screens. Needless to say, the fly swatter came in very handy "

  • Best House Rental on Shelter Island

"The BEST place to stay on Shelter Island. Our family has been going the Rose Cottage for the last 3 years. The owner Dave is a "gem". We have a total of 6 in our family so the house accommodates everyone. I have worked in the restaurant business for many years and thoroughly enjoy the "chef's" commercial kitchen. Everything I need to prepare all meals and baking is on site. I was very impressed with kitchen on my first arrival. There is so much to do on Shelter Island and my children look forward to going every year. Book early and you won't be dissapointed...."
