VRBO Bear enjoys scaling the rocks at Pinecone Cottage

VRBO Bear stayed here - 09/14/2007 My GrandPaw used to say to me, “You need to get back to your roots from time to time.” So I decided to head up to Estes Park to stay in Pinecone Cottage. Pinecone Cottage is the only cottage located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac. When I walked into the cottage, all I could say was, “Wow!” It was clean and beautiful, with pine walls and plenty of windows to see the awe-inspiring views. And I had my choice of six comfortable beds (and you know bears like to sleep soundly).

The kitchen was so well equipped that one evening, I prepared dinner myself. To top it off, I went out on the deck to enjoy the perfect weather and spectacular views. After it got a little chilly, I retired indoors to the big, comfortable Jacuzzi tub. What perfection!

Pinecone Cottage is five minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park where I went hiking, drove Old Fall River Road, and read a book by one of the many lakes. I also had plenty of opportunities to commune with my old friends, like the Elk, Deer, Pika and Hawk families! It is also only five minutes from downtown Estes Park, with plenty of shopping and restaurants.

Whether hiking, shopping, eating, or just relaxing, Pinecone Cottage is a must for anyone. My GrandPaw was right...it doesn’t get any better than this!

All the best,
The VRBO Bear

Why the Owner Chose Estes Park

We bought this vacation rental for the mountain views, its privacy, acreage (1.78 acres) and proximity to Rocky National Mountain park

Owner's Map of Estes Park

I have always dreamed of owning a rental cottage. When I was a child, I used to stay in the deep woods of Northern Michigan. These were the fondest memories of my life. I always adored the historic rental cabins that I saw on my trip. Providing a unique, memorable accomodation to make your vacation even more special has been a lifelong goal of mine. I also teach piano and have started up the sport of baton twirling with my daughter. We are going to Nationals this year!

    • Pinecone Cottage is a fantastic place to stay while visiting Estes Park and RMNP. The accomodations were perfect for us (four adults). We loved watching the rising sun paint the mountains as we ate our breakfast in the dining room. We will definitely stay here again.

    • Sept. 24-28, 2009 We just returned from our visit to Estes Park and our stay at the cottage. It was absolutely wonderful! We have stayed in various places in Estes and this is, by far, our favorite. The location was great...close to the park and downtown. The views are just fabulous! We travel with another couple and it was very comfortable for us all. The beds are great, it's sunny and bright, showers are hot, and we had both elk and deer right outside the front door (we could listen to the bugling at night). Sitting at the dining room table looking directly across to the Stanley Hotel was just such fun. Janet was so nice to work with and provided great hiking and restaurant recommendations. We will definitely be back. You will not be disappointed with this cottage!

    • Bright, airy, and very cozy cottage. We loved the dining area with the large dining table. It was so relaxing to sit and enjoy dinner and the wonderful views of the mountains surrounding Estes Park. Beds are very comfortable; the living room is a great place to watch TV, talk, and read. Tastefully decorated, plenty of wildlife to see around the cottage. One highlight for us was a coyote’s mournful howling at dusk and all the responding howls that followed. Great location – far enough away to feel surrounded by wildlife, close enough to the town and some very good restaurants and very convenient. The WiFi was much appreciated. We had a great stay. Highly recommended!

    • This rental property is beautiful and immaculately kept! We really enjoyed our stay. Every bit of this place is lovely,...with comfortable beds and family room, a great kitchen, and nicely stocked bathrooms...just what we wanted after a long day of hiking and exploring the park. Great location just two minutes from the park entrance,...and away from the tourist madness of downtown...very secluded. The view is a beauty, and the hiking recommendations that Janet sent us in advance were incredible. Glacier Gorge is a must-do! Thank you for a memorable first visit to Rocky Mountain National Park!

    • We just got back from our wonderful vacation to Estes Park and RMNP and the trip was made complete by the awesome accommodations at Pinecone Cottage! The cottage is in a great location to both Estes Park, and Rocky Mountain National Park. Our family of six had more than enough room to spread out and relax after long days of hiking. Great house, great location, great time!

    • This cabin is one of a kind! The views are amazing and being able to lay in bed and watch the sun rise hits the spot! Me and my husband spent most days in RMNP hiking and then coming home after dinner to sit on the porch and see all the amazing stars! The wildlife was fantastic. We saw deer, rabbits and even a coyote up close and personal. It was an experience we will never forget and will be sure to look up this cabin for our next stay!

    • If you are looking for quiet, space, privacy, and a retreat from the world in general, this cabin is perfect. We had a fantastic time. The cottage is so secluded that no tourist will find it by accident, but it is still just 10 minutes from anything in Estes Park. Very nice amenities. The mountain views are incredible. All website pictures are accurate representations of the cabin and its surroundings. The cottage is ideal for 1-2 couples or a small family. Highly recommended and would definitely stay there again.

    • My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Pinecone Cottage during our recent visit to RMNP. Although it was close to Estes Park, the location was far enough away to give us space from the crowds. We really enjoyed seeing the daily parade of animals (deer, cottontail rabbits, coyotes, etc). This was a great base for our hikes in the park and other sightseeing adventures nearby. The home was immaculate and well equipped. We will stay here again when we return to Estes.
