Behind a charming garden gate, through your own private entrance is a bright,cozy, quiet retreat conveniently located .8 mile from the village of Carmel-By-The_Sea. Our very spacious studio is a pleasant walk or quick drive to exceptional restaurants, shops, beautiful beaches and all that Carmel and the Monterey Peninsula has to offer.

Our studio is tastefully done in country french style with warm provencal colors. Our comfy queen size bed comes complete with a Pierre Deux down comforter,down pillows, and reading lamps. Our studio is planned to provide you with built-in bookcases with lots of books, cable television to watch from bed or the sitting area, a DVD/VCR player for movies, and DSL and wireless access for your laptop.

Enjoy having your own favorite coffee or tea along with your breakfast at a lovely French antique table next to our fully appointed kitchenette with white tile and sunny yellow faux walls. Pick up some wine or cheese or a meal to go when you don't feel like eating out. We also have a fully tiled bath with tub/shower, window, and built-in cabinets with plenty of room for your bubble bath.

A small cobblestone patio with a bistro table and chairs, ferns and pots of lavender is a perfect setting for a glass of wine from the local award winning wineries or a cup of tea with a pastry from the popular Carmel bakeries. Our private garden is enclosed with an tall ivy covered fence, flowers, a tall stately redwood and beautiful mountain views.

Park your car off the street in our large driveway, check into our "le Petite chambre", and enjoy a perfect get-away for two. A lovely spot for an anniversary, birthday, or special week-end. Not suitable for children.

As a special welcome, we like to include a fresh fruit bowl, a bottle of wine, assorted breakfast things for our guests. There are also 2 unlimited use guest passes to the world class Monterey Bay Aquarium as well as a California State Parks pass

  • My husband and I loved our recent stay at this studio! Jan and Joe are the perfect hosts! Never intrusive but always standing by to answer any questions or offer advice on making your stay more enjoyable. All VRBO owners should take a lesson from them! The pantry was nicely stocked with breakfast items and snacks upon arrival. They even bought a bottle of wine for us! The studio is perfectly equipped for a comfortable with every need anticipated and addressed. If I am lucky enough to return to Carmel by the Sea, I would not consider staying anywhere else!

  • In August, I spent a week at this secluded studio apartment. It is beautifully furnished, extremely comfortable, and quiet. I walked in the door and knew I had found my perfect retreat in Carmel.

  • We just spent a wonderfull week at this charming studio guest cottage. It is clear that the owners Jan and Joe put a lot of effort into making the accomodations beautiful and spotless. We enjoyed the location which is just south of Carmel High School on Highway One. Very, very quiet and centrally located. Jan and Joe go out of their way to make sure you have a great stay....we sure did. No negatives at all in staying here. And the passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium was an added treat.   • We came back last month for our third stay with Jan and Joe. I would not stay anywhere else in Carmel. The petite chambre and Jan and Joe's hospitality get better and better. We stayed in there in 2006, 2007 and 2009 (2008 we had to cancel as we had a our first child that year). New for us in 2009 (although they said it has been changed for a bit) was the gleaming wood floors! I thought with all the renters the place might look a little more tired than when I first saw it, but it was BETTER! New TV too! Jan takes great pride in the place and is constantly striving to make it the best place to stay. My fav part was I found my new cereal! Jan is nice enough to stock with some goodies and had Trader Joe's Very Berry Crunch cereal, which I now buy every week for my breakfast. It reminded me of my favorite childhood cereal (Crunchberries) but now I don't have to buy the embarrassing box. Jan and Joe never impose on their guests, but since we've been up there a few times now (and have kept in touch because they are just such a lovely couple), we did go over to their place for a glass of wine. It was a pleasure to get to know them better and just cements my opinion that there isn't a better place to stay in Carmel. You won't get the hospitality, great lodging and VALUE anywhere else, IMHO. Thanks Jan and Joe for yet another amazing stay, we'll see you next year!!

The charming and thoughtful details made us feel so welcome. The garden is beautiful. This vacation will live in my memory as a magical one.

  • Le Petite Chambre was certainly a slice of Provencal heaven for us! The accommodations were so tasteful and elegant with many treasures and souvenirs from France. What a delight to be greeted with a special welcome of beautifu flowere, a chilled bottle of wine, an array of fruits, and a full assortment of breakfast items---cereal, yogurt, teas, coffee, chocolates, and assorted other treats. From the moment we walked into our petit chambre, we knew that we had found a perfect place. Jan and Joe were exceptional hosts and left no detail unattended.

  • This was a special trip for us---my 75th. Playing Pebble Beach for the first time was great, but equally great was our own Country French Studio. Jan did not miss any opportunity to make us feel welcome and totally at home. The personal touches like a stocked refrigerator, two kinds of coffee, fruit and a bottle of wine were unexpected and were a very pleasant surprise. We have used VRBO on many occasions---this was the best.

  • My wife and I just went for our 2nd Anniversary and it was PERFECT. It was exactly how I had planned it (since it was all a surprise to my wife), and I can't wait to get back. Jan and Joe were above and beyond accommodating, and the Studio was perfectly furnished, comfortable, quaint, romantic, secluded, quiet. It felt like we were in a French Cottage away from all civilization, yet 1 minute away from Carmel Village. Can't go wrong with this choice, and I know we will be back as soon as possible! Thanks for our best vacation we have taken!

  • We visited in January 2009. There is really not much to add to all the other fabulous comments! They are not only true but moreso!! Everywhere are tiny and incredibly thoughtful touches. Having lived in the area for 20 years, we can say that this is truly a treasure and a bargain too! You cannot be disappointed!
