GARDEN GATE TO BEACH
Swim from the sandy beach at the bottom of the garden or in the private pool, then breakfast on the terrace or on your bedroom balcony and enjoy one of the finest views on the Riviera. The great appeal of this special house is its unique location. The unspoilt panorama of sea and hills is stunning. Yet, despite its tranquil setting, you can walk to the village shops in five minutes.
La Couveuse is a restored Edwardian villa on the fringe of unpretentious Cavalaire Sur Mer with its busy shops and restaurants, long, sandy beach, marina and sporting facilities including sailing, scuba diving, tennis and mini-golf. Cavalaire is a short drive from St Tropez (20 minutes) and two hours from Nice to the east and Marseilles to the west. There are also flights from Paris and London to Toulon which is less than an hour away and a Motorail Terminal in St Raphael.
La Couveuse is at the end of an unmade track with a gate at the bottom of the garden with opens onto a path that leads directly to one of the prettiest family beaches in the area. You're so close you can be in the sea within minutes of rolling out of bed. If you prefer to swim privately, there is a 12 m x 7 m chlorine-free heated swimming pool surrounded by a spacious terrace, ideal for sun bathing and gentle ball games. There are two other terraces and a place to play boules.
The house is furnished for relaxation. There are no antiques for children to damage, nor does the garden contain rare plants for them to trample on. From the terraces, you can't see another house. Just the sea with its changing traffic of small boats and a distant lighthouse and the island it protects. From Cavalaire's port there are daily boat trips to the protected islands of Levant, Porquerolles and Port-Cro. Cavalaire is also ideally located for exploring the beautiful hinterland of Provence including Aix-en-Provence, the Maures Massif and the Verdun Grand Canyon.
La Couveuse has been extensively renovated and is designed to provide a family or group of friends with all they require for a relaxed and enjoyable holiday. The spacious house can comfortably sleep 10 in five large bedrooms, all of which have uninterrupted views of the sea, hills and valley.
The living areas downstairs also command stunning sea views with doors leading to the paved terrace There's a modern 'open' kitchen fitted with a full range of appliances including cooker, dishwasher, fridge and micro-wave. Behind it is a utility room with a washing machine and a large second fridge. The main L-shaped living room has doors leading directly to a wide terraced area with a table and chairs where you can dine in the evening overlooking the then deserted beach.
In the 'quiet' back sitting room there is a television receiving terrestrial and satellite channels (Sky News, CNN, BBC World etc) and a video and DVD. The system can also pick up all the UK BBC radio stations.
The main double bedroom has French windows opening onto a balcony that overlooks the beach and sea. An en suite bathroom includes a bath, toilet and bidet. Two other double bedrooms also open onto the balcony and the fourth bedroom, which can comfortably sleep four, is ideal for children. These bedrooms share two other bathrooms. There is also a double bedroom suite in the roof.
For winter visitors the house has full central heating and the living room has a traditional open fire.
La Couveuse is equipped with everything we can think of for your comfort. There is table tennis, games, toys and shelves full of books, every utensil in the kitchen, the showers are hot, the sofas don't sag and you're spoilt for choice of places to snooze or sunbathe.

We have returned to this splendid villa annually for the past 10 years. It is unique in being on a wonderfully quiet beach right next to Cavalaire and at the same time facing onto a nature reserve extending to the horizon. Cavalaire provides all the restaurants and nightlife you could ever wish for all within walking distance. But the great temptation is to stay in, self-cater, enjoy all the other facilities at the villa and,of course, the views. BOB AND HELEN WIGHTMAN

La Couveuse is a really great holiday property. It is secluded but not far from the supermarket. Waking up to the sound and sight of the sea is a memorable experience. The house is spacious and well-appointed with simple and attractive furniture. My family have stayed there many times and we look forward to our next visit.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

On arrival at La Couveuse you know you have come to a special place. This stylish and spacious villa is in a tranquil location overlooking a sandy bay; the terrace providing an ideal location for watching the sun go down with a drink in hand. Bedrooms are comfortably furnished, the main ones sharing a balcony facing the sea. There are some difficult decisions to be made, swim in the pool or the sea, and which of the recommended restaurants to try. For those intent on preparing their own meals there is a well equipped kitchen and a comprehensively stocked supermarket not far away. A thoroughly satisfying holiday experience. I am happy to report that our experience at La Couveuse was very positive and enjoyable. The house was clean and comfortable in a stunning setting and an easy walk into town. Peter was very helpful with arrangements and with tips about local sights, etc. He checked in by telephone the day we arrived and a local caretaker was available to help as needed. We would recommend the house to anyone without reservation. Enjoy!

Your charming villa and the nature surroundings exceeded all our expectations. It was a bit of a chance coming in November but the weather turned out sunny and quite fantastic.
