  • Great value and location!

"This is a great rental for those who prefer to live like the locals, and not at a resort. The supermarket is just a 5 min bus ride or car drive away in Rodney Bay, and there's also the gas station & convenience store at the entrance to Cas en Bas Road (about a 15 min walk). The accommodations are clean and comfortable, and it was great to have a washing machine. It is located in a quiet residential area, so a rental car is recommended. We did fairly well however on foot and relying on transportation provided by our excursion / tour operators. We rented a car for one day to visit the markets at Castries and to have dinner at Marjorie's Beach Bar (a hidden gem of a restaurant!). Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Cas en Bas. Karen and Jerome were very accommodating and we would highly recommend this rental property. Graham & Michele"

  • Best Anniversary Ever

"We could not have been happier with the decision to celebrate our 25th anniversary at Cap Pavilion. As other reviewers have noted the location is incredibly beautiful and private. Quite often the hardest decision was where to enjoy our time; the sitting room, the portico, the pool, or the sun deck. After several days it became clear that each had its optimum use; morning tea, sunset, sunrise, mid-day heat, and reading. We arrived on Saint Lucia with an extensive list of restaurants we intended to enjoy. At the end of our stay we had not visited one restaurant. Upon our arrival we were treated first to a gourmet snack and then a dinner prepared by Sandrine. They were fabulous! On day two we decided to sample another day of Sandrine’s cooking. We thoroughly enjoyed the multi-course dinner served in the formal dining room complete with mahogany, linens, china, silver, and candles. The room itself is a very open design void of a fourth wall so you can enjoy the fresh air and the view across the courtyard to the lights of Rodney Bay below. Our definition of the perfect restaurant is built around great food, attentive service, beautiful views, and minimal disruption from neighboring tables. There was no reason to look any further, we had found near perfection in Sandrine and Cap Pavilion. Sandrine agreed to shop, prepare, and surprise us with the menu for the balance of our stay. We could not have been happier for breakfast, lunch, dinner, rum punch, etc. In fact, the relationship eventually morphed into part restaurant, part cooking school. On numerous occasions I found my wife in the kitchen with Sandrine getting lessons on various preparation techniques. The surrounding natural areas were another very pleasant surprise. The photography and hiking opportunities right from the villa were most enjoyable. There is a network of trails (some of which are passable in a jeep) at the bottom of the road that follow the Atlantic coast. With just a three to four mile hike one can enjoy all types of topography; deserted sandy beaches, cactus fields, surf pounded rock structures, and even wild horses. If you follow the trails south along the coast you will come to Case en Bas beach which has a quintessential bamboo beach bar, Marjorie’s….great place to stop for a cold drink. A little further south is Five Dollar Beach (to get a feel for the area, google: The Man Who Won’t Sell Paradise)."

  • Two Weeks in Paradise!

"We recently returned from two weeks in paradise on the island of St. Lucia. Our vacation there was one of the best we ever had! It was wonderful to escape from a Canadian winter to temperatures ranging in the high 20’s (in Fahrenheit that would be in the 80’s). What a picturesque place St. Lucia is! We come from the landlocked prairies and so we were in awe of the scenery: mountains, the jungle greenery and the Caribbean. We had read glowing reviews of David and Wanda Wallace’s Nature’s Paradise. We were not disappointed! Nature’s Paradise is situated up a mountain just outside Marigot Bay, possibly the most beautiful place in St. Lucia. We stayed in the Avocado cottage. When we were at ”home”, we spent most of our time on the wraparound porch, overlooking the sea and Marigot Bay. Imagine waking up every morning to that view. The cottage has a kitchen, great for weekend breakfasts and for some eat in meals. The Wallaces provide a great breakfast from Monday to Friday. We were served tropical fruits, including juice made from the lime trees that grow on the property. There are also cheeses, local baguettes, Wanda’s amazing banana bread and muffins along with some of the best coffee we have ever had. It’s over breakfast that we had the opportunity to ask David and Wanda about the island and share with the other guests (a maximum of eight guests in the two cottages and two suites in the main house) various places and restaurants that they had visited. It was so interesting to meet couples from neighbouring provinces as well as from Oregon, Boston, and Britain. One couple mentioned they wanted to rent a catamaran for the day. We decided to split the cost and had a wonderful day seeing the island from the sea. We stopped at Sugar Beach for about an hour and later on for some snorkeling. We raved about this trip so much that when another couple arrived they, too, wanted to take a cruise. They opted for a half- day excursion and we, along with another couple, shared the cost. We would not have considered going on a cruise had it not been suggested over breakfast. David was able to make the bookings for us. David took us on an Eco Adventure, which we highly recommend. We visited a botanical garden and David, so knowledgeable about the vegetation, was an excellent guide. We went to a hot springs and spent some time in the pools there. The day ended with a visit to a volcano."

  • Once In a Lifetime Experience

"La Batterie Villa exceeded my expectations. It is hard to put my experience in words but if I had to chose one it would be - paradise. I was welcomed by Clavie at the airport. He is beyond friendly and takes care of you 100%. He drove me from the airport to the villa. I was then introduced to Marilyn, Stephanie and Terry. I went on a tour around the villa and was surprised with an amazing dinner - compliments of the owners. I had pumpkin soup with local vegetables and a fresh salad - could not have been better. I sat down for a second and looked out at the breathtaking view of the Carribean sea and the Pitons. This view has to be the best on the island. I can not stress this enough. Every day I would wake up - still in awe of this view. La Batterie is a treasure and enraptures all that is beautiful in this breathtaking country. Subsequent wonderful attributes of this villa include the salt water pool/lounge area and the surrounding lush gardens. The bougainvillea flowers were my favorite - they produce coral and fuscia flowers. There are also several other exotic flowers including helconia. The gardens are a joy and if you appreciate nature you will love La Batterie. In regards to the pool - WOW! First of all, the salt water is unique and does not damage the skin like chlorine. The color of the pool is also beautiful. It is blue and catches the sun in all of the right ways. I spent a lot of the duration of my trip reading poolside with a nice refreshing glass of local grapefruit juice. Lastly, each bedroom in this villa holds a certain charm. I stayed in the piton suite and let me tell you - the view was out of this world. I would open my doors each morning greeted by the beauty of this island. Did I mention there are fresh flowers placed throughout the house upon arrival? It is hard to put my feelings/thoughts in words but I truly enjoyed my time at La Batterie. Saint Lucia is a one-of-a-kind island and staying at La Batterie made it unforgettable. I can only hope I will be fortunate enough to stay at this villa once again."
