  • Lovely apartment

"My husband and I stayed here for the holidays, and it was the perfect home base for our trip. Very comfortable accommodations with charming architectural details. The neighborhood is quiet, but only a short walk to the Eiffel Tower. It is conveniently located near a metro stop, markets, and restaurants. The owner was a pleasure to deal with in arranging for our stay. The apartment has everything you need for a lovely stay in Paris."

  • Fantastic holiday home!

"Our group consisted of 3 adults and 3 young children. We spent 5 lovely weeks at Les Palmiers. Our first impressions were of space, comfort and luxury! The pool was inviting, the outdoor furniture begging to be relaxed in, the kitchen spacious and well equipped. Artworks adorn many walls. The entire property was clean and well maintained. Marie, the housekeeper, is an absolute gem. She looked after us really well and nothing was too much trouble for her. The photos don't do the place justice, it is even better than it looks. Despite there being 6 in our group and up to 3 visitors at one time, we never felt cramped. As the yard is completely walled off from the street and neighbouring properties, and the pool is securely fenced, we were able to let the kids play outside in complete safety. Uzes is a wonderful town, steeped in history and architecture. We loved the Wednesday markets, restaurants, shops and cafes. Especially handy was the boulangerie two doors down; fresh bread and croissants every morning became a habit that was hard to break when the holiday was over! We can only thank Maggie sincerely for accommodation that made our trip truly wonderful."

  • Florence riverfront appartment

"Our week at Christina's apartment during the Christmas holiday was fabulous! The apartment had everything we needed; supermarket and restaurants close by, easy walk into the historic city center or metro station and parking just outside the door. The park across the river was an easy walk and absolutely beautiful. We could have easily spent a month there if we didn't have to go back to work... Thank you Christina!"

Bulgaria Travel Tips

Travelers to Bulgaria Vacation Rentals

Bulgaria has an incredibly rich cultural and historical heritage. For those interested in ancient cultures, the Middle Ages and even modern history, you will love touring the sites of Bulgaria. There are few countries in the world that can boast of artifacts and relics from pre-Biblical times. It is a destination that captures not only your interest but also your imagination. As you hear the legends of old and walk the ancient tombs, you find yourself imagining what life may have been like all that time ago. For those with an interest in art and architecture, you will find many fine examples to photograph and marvel over in Bulgaria.

Seasons to Visit Bulgaria Lodging

Bulgaria has a cold continental climate with relatively long winters and mild, short summers. Like most of Europe, the most popular travel season is during the warmer summer months. The mild days allow for outdoor exploration of the many historic and cultural sites in Bulgaria. The season starts from June and runs until early September. The busiest tourist season is during the months of July and August when many European travelers take advantage of the summer vacation period.

Bulgaria Travel Attractions

Bulgaria has a rich history that is fascinating to discover. Aside from the many historic buildings and monuments, there are several excellent museums which provide insight into the culture, traditions and military history of the Bulgarian nation. Because of its location between Europe, Asia and the Middle East, history tells that Bulgaria has had many cultural influences. Its territory was part of and subject to mighty empires such as the Thracians, Romans and Byzantines.

Today, you can visit the tombs of the Thracian Kings which are decorated with ornate sculptures, reliefs and murals. Many of these tombs are found in the Kazanluk Valley and were only discovered in the 1990s. The Haskovo region also has two tombs of notable interest, namely the Mezek Thracian Tomb and the Alexandrovo Tomb. In the Bacho Kiro Cave, which is located near the Dryanovo Monastery, flint and bone implements were found that date back to the Paleolithic Age. Gold and copper items found in the Varna Chacholithic necropolis are believed to be samples of some of the oldest processed gold in the world. Almost every age made great contributions to the country's culture and architecture. Some buildings remain standing while others are merely ruins; however, all provide valuable insight into the history of the region.

Finding Your Way to Bulgaria

The primary airport in Bulgaria is just outside of the capital city of Sofia. The Sophia International Airport hosts flights from most major European airlines. For travelers from North America, there are limited direct flights to Sofia. Most often, you will need to route via one of the major European hubs such as Frankfurt, London, Vienna or Paris. From there, you should have little difficulty finding a connecting flight. Other major airports in Bulgaria are located in Varna, Bourgas, and Plovdiv. Bulgaria has an extensive railway system and good links with the rest of Europe. In fact, traveling by train is one of the popular ways to travel to Bulgaria. You can sit back and enjoy the scenery and see much more of the country as you travel to your vacation destination. If you plan to do lots of independent exploring, your best option may be to hire a car. There are rental agencies at the airports and in most major cities. You will need a valid international driver's license as a requirement to hire a car.
