  • Family Thanksgiving getaway

"We spent the week of Thanksgiving at this house. It was perfect for our needs. The house is very strangely laid out. I'll try to describe it. It is not ADA accessible (we knew this ahead of time), but we were able to navigate it fine with my father who is part-time in a wheelchair. Downstairs has the kitchen, living room, dining areas, laundry room, 2 bedrooms (1 king, 1 king plus twin bunk beds) each with an attached bathroom, and an extra bathroom. Second level has a loft king bedroom that opens to ground floor with an attached twin-bed room. The huge bathroom has no door to the shower area - a little strange, but we made it work. Also on the second level, but accessible from a second staircase, is another bedroom with either a queen or king. It's a secluded room that shares the same bathroom - the one with no door to the shower. The toilet and bath tub are in a separate room with a door, but there is a window from the roof that looks down on the tub. The third level has one bedroom with a full-size bed and a sleeping nook that would fit a child no more than age 5. This room goes out to the roof which has a beautiful view of the bay and a peak at the ocean on the other side. This room would also share the second floor bathroom. You have to walk through the house a couple of times to figure out the layout. Quirky. The kitchen has two ovens so cooking a turkey in one and sides in the other worked well. The house was well stocked with pots/pans, baking pans, small/medium serving platters, plates, glasses (wine/water/mugs), and eating and cooking utensils. Of course, we brought down a roasting pan and some big serving platters and extra serving utensils because rental houses don't generally have Thanksgiving-specific items. Great place to sit on the patio and watch people walk, run, bike, and skate by along the bayside boardwalk. Much mellower than on the ocean side of MB. My kids spent most of their time playing in the sand across the boardwalk. I could see them from the kitchen, living room and patio. Great seashell collecting. Very fun trip! Cindy and Alex were very helpful and responsive."

  • Great beach rental in San Diego

"We were among the first guests here and were impressed! The property is very centrally located, and it was nice to be on the bay side of mission beach where it's quieter. The views from the upper deck aren't great but it's literally one house from the bay and a short couple blocks (2 mins) from the oceanside boardwalk, so you'll have great views nearby. VERY walkable and bikeable (beachside sidewalks on both sides), restaurants, shops and amusement park within walking distance, and the bay is paddleboardable (there are boards that come with the unit). And it was a great launch point for lots of fun activities in the area - downtown 10-15 mins away, La Jolla/ Torrey Pines 20-30 minutes away. For ppl that use Uber, we were always able to pick one up in 2-5 minutes; car rental not necessary. The interior is also great - not huge but feels spacious and open, very modern and brand new, with lots of touches like coffee beans and grinder for fresh coffee, large filtered water container in fridge, USB plugs in kitchen, excellent wifi, Roku TV. It was unusually warm so we did use the AC, which worked great but when it was cooler in the evening, we just opened the door to the deck. Kitchen was well-furnished though we didn't cook because there were so many restaurants nearby. Loved the shower! Quadruple shower heads! Also well furnished with plenty towels etc. Beds were very comfortable with great comforters. The ground floor patio, which has a table, chairs, umbrella and grill, was also available to us and faces the landscaped walkway, which was pleasant for morning coffee. A little construction noise while we were there (they were renovating the downstairs unit), but not terrible. Manager was super responsive and checked in periodically to make sure all was OK. Great staycation property for those in SD! Highly recommend!"
