  • Peaceful

"The place is very peaceful and has a great view. The neighbor (caretakers) are far enough away and quiet that you feel totally alone, especially after driving the dirt road to the place at night. If it wasn't obvious, the place is a bit out of the way, but not insanely so. I windsurf and the drive to Swell or the Hatchery are only about 20 minutes away. Not bad. It might be frustrating if you forget a grocery item though. All the amenities are there but we couldn't use the fireplace because of no-burning in effect. If it's hot, there is only 1 window unit in 1 of the bedrooms so just a word of caution on that. There are also no window coverings but if you're an early riser, that should not be a problem. I did not check the 55+ category because of the dim lighting in some of the rooms and, especially the stairway. I really enjoyed my stay there and would certainly recommend the place for just about anyone doing anything from being active to staying there and reading all day which I did most mornings."

  • Great condo for the two of us!

"The description of this condo was very accurate on the website and from the owner herself. We didn't mind the stairs (we're both 60) and noise from the train and planes. The place is clean and organized and had everything you would want for a week or longer stay. I liked the fact that you knew where to put things back since the cupboards were labeled. The owner was great to work with and responded in a timely manner to our questions."

  • Eva's Cottage

"This is really a special place. Being from Vancouver it wasn't very far. But it felt like you were in the middle of nowhere. Everything was terrific! The cottage was very clean and well stalked. My only criticism would be the firewood. Like other cottages I have stayed at, the wood doesn't burn well. I brought an axe to cut it into smaller pieces and that helped. I brought a couple duraflame logs that made a huge difference. Other then that, make sure to bring your own food. There is a store about 3 miles down the road but it's expensive. Other then that enjoy! I wasn't brave enough to swim in the cold river but the hot tub was so nice. Especially at night. It's all very private. I have no doubt I will return soon!"

  • Great Rental in a Great Area!

"We were a group of nine seniors looking for adventure in the Sun, we found it. This beautiful farmhouse not only provided all the accommodations needed for an enjoyable vacation (fully stocked kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, dining area, and a combo reading/living room) but it is located in the perfect setting. Mount Adams stands out north of the farmhouse (climbing trailhead 45 min. drive); the Town of Trout Lake is only a 5 min drive away with a gas station, store, USFS Ranger Station, sports bars, etc. The Columbia River Gorge is a 30 min drive to the south. We found the local roads provided great bide riding, hundreds of miles of great hiking trails are close at hand, cave exploring, fishing, river rides, and the list goes on. Back to the farmhouse! Besides having great accommodations, it also has very interesting antiques and the yard surrounding the farmhouse offers a covered outbuilding for dinners, fire pit (firewood provided), horse shoe pit, large mowed yard, scattered seating, antique farm equipment, and much more. This Craftsman farmhouse offers cover porches which our group very much enjoyed at the end of the day. Our seven day visit passed by very quickly. Genevieve was a great host and our group very much wants to return next year."
