An elegant vacation getaway for two that includes both vintage and modern elements that continue to define Jim Thorpe. The Serenity Suite is part of Jim Thorpe's history - housed in an old soda fountain store that has retained circa 1874 design details with the original storefront and display windows still intact. The building also houses 600 sq. ft. of cafe space that is open only for private events.

Your surprise may be from the architecture that still remains with stately 10 - foot ceilings in both the kitchen and the bedroom and the impossible to miss - mirrored double doors with over door transoms. Spectacular carved wood pillars in the bedroom showcase elegant late- 19th- century craftsmanship.

Modern design includes a full kitchen with new stainless steel appliances, open concept shelving with dishware, new charcoal gray porcelain floor tiles. The Suite is fully furnished in a stylish, historic setting. Lighting is essential so why not make it amazing? It's the first thing you see when you enter the bedroom. Crystal chandeliers give visual balance to the bedroom's tall ceilings. The reflection bounces light off the lacquered ceiling, and the beautiful warm white walls. Brand new oak flooring adds a wonderful warmth to this serene setting.

We supply high quality bed linens and bath towels. You will find a newly renovated full bath with a walk - in shower with natural stone subway tiles. There is a half bath ( with hand rails). There is no bathtub. A laundry room with washer and dryer is provided for your use. There is an attached outdoor deck with BBQ grill and space for parking.

The Serenity Suite at the Glen Onoko Guesthouse includes WiFi access, Samsung Smart TV-- Roku with Netflix and Pandora radio. You will find complimentary coffee, tea, creamer, sugar, spices, foil, plastic wrap, cooking oil and spray.

About Dee Ford

I personally love this town for it's quiet atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and fresh, clean air. Spending time in nature with a walk in the woods gives me energy, and a sense of relaxation.

I met my husband Mark, when he and his family owned and operated the Hotel Switzerland. We have been in the hospitality business for decades, and want to provide travelers with a warm welcome to our amazing town of Jim Thorpe.

My career in retail led me to this old mercantile building, with it's lovely storefront. We have spent the last 10 years improving the building while still maintaining the historical aspects. I was in awe of the craftsmanship of the woodwork in the building.

Dee and Mark are wonderful hosts. Their apartment is beautifully decorated and a perfect place to relax after traveling and a long day of rafting and paintball. As soon as we pulled into the driveway, they were both there to greet us, give information about the property/apartment and gave great recommendations on activities and eateries in Jim Thorpe. The apartment was very cozy and clean with everything anyone could possibly need to have a comfortable stay. Dee took the time to walk us through the whole apartment so we knew where everything was placed. Hoping to come back some time in the winter for a ski trip. Two nights was definitely not enough in Dee and Mark's wonderful apartment. Thank you Dee and Mark!

The entrance is at the back of the building that makes unpacking easy. Key less entry will allow you to access the inside of the building, then a key is provided to the apartment door. You will have exclusive access to the entire apartment which includes an eat in kitchen. Please inquire for more information if you wish to book an appointment at the Salon and Spa that is located next door.

Charming Apartment for a Weekend Getaway

I booked this apartment for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend. It was the perfect home base for an active weekend of rafting, biking, and hiking. The place is clean, well stocked, and comfortable. We had a great time grilling and utilizing the kitchen for meals. Thanks Dee for a wonderful visit to Jim Thorpe!

Outstanding hosts that placed a premium on details and quality performance. They did not miissreprsent the property in any respect. The owners made a point of making us comfortable, including expressing an interest in what we wanted to do while in the area...and then making helpful suggestions that allowed us the really enjoy ourselves.

The property was delightful and represented good value.

If your experience is like ours, you will likely be happy with a decision to spend a few days as guest.

Had a fantastic long weekend in Jim Thorpe. Weather was not great but Dee more than made up for it with a warm welcome. The suite was very clean and furnished with everything we could want. This is our new favorite place to stay in Pennsylvania.

The Glen Onoko Guesthouse was lovely and beautifully maintained. Dee and her husband are very accommodating and I would highly recommend this place to anyone! My husband and I were torn between the Guesthouse and the Jim Thorpe Inn and are so happy we decided to stay at the Guesthouse.

We loved the Serenity Suite! It was the perfect space for a couple and so cozy and clean! Dee was so nice giving us places to visit while we’re in Jim Thorpe and left us some delicious cupcakes! Thank you for a great stay!

Car: necessary

Situated in a central location, the Serenity Suite is an excellent base for exploring some of the town's top attractions including the Asa Packer Mansion, St. Marks Episcopal Church, the Old Jail and the Scenic Railway. The Serenity Suite is located 3/4 mile from the Scenic Train Station.

You will enjoy the close proximity to the Lehigh Gorge State Park with the Glen Onoko Falls Trail. Head out to Mauch Chunk Lake Park ( just 3 miles west of the downtown) and rent a kayak, paddle board or small motor boat.

Eclectic shops, museums, the Mauch Chunk Opera House and Penn's Peak are all within minutes from the property. The area has an array of restaurants, a vinyl record store, bars and bike shops.

Union Public House, the local dive bar, is close to the property and offers Sunday brunch. Walk next door to the town's only full service Salon and Spa or walk to Tommy's Steak and Subs for a build your own 6 pack of craft beer. East Mauch Chunk Eatery is blocks away for breakfast and is where the locals go. We have a great grocery store, a wine and spirits store, pharmacy, Annie's Ice Cream and the Yoga studio are located nearby.

Points of interest: Historic Jim Thorpe, Penn's Peak Concert Venue, Mauch Chunk Opera House, Pocono Whitewater and Skirmish, Jim Thorpe River Adventures, Whitewater Rafting Adventures, Lehigh Gorge Bike Trails, Glen Onoko Falls, Beltsville State Park, Hickory Run State Park Hawk Falls, Mauch Chunk Lake.
