The home is very well equipped. Literally all you need is your toothbrush! Quiet, tranquil setting with beautiful views. View from many of the rooms. Not swimming weather during our stay, but a great looking sandy beach. Long dock for fishing or just watching all the ducks, geese, loon and blue heron. Winnipesaukee River Trail access in the back yard for walks. Yummy restaraunts very close by. A great find!!
Wonderful Intergenerational Retreat
Warm , welcoming, clean ,perfect relaxation location. Quiet lake, we kayaked and rented paddle boards. The kids spent hours on and in the water. We even loved the rainy days in family spaces. Wonderful week , we stayed til the very last minute.
Nice spot, ok house, poor house prep, and disputed damages
The house is in a lovely spot on a nice lake. We went in the winter so it was frozen but there were many ice fisherman and we walked the lake several times. The house itself is just ok, probably better in the summer when the deck and lawn are fully usable. It, I believe, has been enlarged and it doesn't really flow. There isn't really a dining room to eat at and the only other table is in a breakfast nook with a table that is too big to sit around. So you need to drag it out of the kitchen if you want to all sit together. The two upstairs bedroom were cold unless you slept with the doors open. There is also only one bathroom in the center of the house that has two doors and serves as a walk through of sorts. The master bedroom is nice and has a beautiful view. I would have probably given 3 or 4 stars if not for a few other issues.
First, the long driveway and walkway were both at a grade and were all ice. Both our cars got stuck while pulling in and all of us fell at some point while unloading the cars. I spent a good two to three hours clearing the walkway and getting the cars out. I had to go and buy additional icemelt as there was not much there. A plow truck came later int he evening and did salt and sand the driveway. Then the place felt more like a primary residence than a rental. Which can be fine but the fridge and small pantry were half filled with condiments and spices, etc. so it was hard to find space for our stuff and not mix it up with theirs. There were a number of chairs that we were not sure if they were safe to sit on or if they were decorations and the place seemed a bit "delicate" so if you are bringing young kids it's a thought. Again, these are normally not things I would complain much about and still was a solid 3 stars until we got home. A few days after we were dinged with damage complaints and had money held from the deposit. One was for a comforter and the other was for a dent in the wall behind a couch. They relented on the comforter after my daughter insisted it was like that when we got there (it was her bed for the week) but not the wall. We never saw or noticed the dent and have no idea how we caused it. It soured the whole experience for us unfortunately.
Im just going to copy the text I sent to Kathi when we left:
“Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful house! It was absolutely perfect! And so thoughtfully full of everything you might need. We are all already looking forward to coming back!”
It was perfect for winter weekend ski vacation with Ragged Mountain just 20 minutes away. The lake was lovely in the winter, I’m sure even better in the summer. Plenty of linens and blankets and the most well stocked kitchen of any house we’ve ever stayed in. We had a wonderful family weekend. Thanks again!!
House was right on the water and we were able to dock our boat. House had everything we needed and more. Very spacious with a great view. It rained on one of the days, and we enjoyed playing games inside and once the rain stopped we had s'mores by the fire. On our last day we went tubing. It was a great weekend getaway! Kathi was very accommodating and helpful.
Wonderful Place to Relax
We stayed at the Lake House for three nights and it was a wonderful experience. The house is perfect and suited well to host two families. We enjoyed the deck and beautiful views of the lake. It is a wonderful place for small children as the water goes out gradually, allowing for some freedom for the kids to explore the water. We brought our boat with us and were easily able to utilize the boat ramp down the road and the dock at the house. There was a peaceful beach in walking distance that we often had to ourselves and plenty of places to ride bikes as the rail trail is also near.
We are hoping to make this an annual trip as we had a great experience. The hosts were very accommodating. I highly recommend this rental.
