Bahama Sunset is a beautiful island home set on rugged cliffs overlooking the quiet Caribbean Ocean!

Guests at Bahama Sunset have a view of the crystalline blue-green waters from every window, and each night can watch stunning sunsets glide into the ocean from the wrap-around deck that hangs over the cliffs. You'll find excellent snorkeling and diving a one minute walk down the stone cut steps that bring you to your own private lagoon.

The marine life in our 'lagoon' includes colorful parrot fish, balloon fish, moray eel, grouper, lobster, crab, needle fish, red fans, sea snails, many varieties of coral and all kinds of other beautiful sea life. Eleuthera is a quiet, rural island and the nearby village, Gregory Town, is a sleepy harbor town full of friendly Bahamian natives. The night life at Bahama Sunset includes an orchestra of crickets and the dance of the ocean in the lagoon.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Scott,

I’m sad to say that we are home from our trip…which was absolutely perfect! We had never been to Eleuthera before but we fell in love. The place was everything we could have wanted from a vacation rental- kitchen was well stocked for cooking, days and nights are quiet and relaxing, and the view is stunning! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!

A GREAT escape for anyone who enjoys the natural beauty of the Bahamas. The location alone is worth everything! The local people will treat you like family unpretentious and genuine. the lagoon is full of surprises. The sunsets are unforgetable. The beaches are a dream. The house is all you need to relax and renew your spirits. Great work Scott and Wendy and phillip! This has been a highlight of our familys travels!! p.s get fresh fish from the local fishermen it's the BEST!

Beautiful Views with Great Snorkeling

  • 5 of 5

Overall, loved the property. When you first arrive at the airport, a taxi can take you to the supermarket to get food since its on the way. The views are amazing and we enjoyed sitting outside looking at the ocean, fish and sunrise/sunsets. The maintenance man, Phillip, is amazing and lives nearby in case you need something. The bed was confortable as were the pillows, and I'm all about comfortable beds and pillows. I highly recommend renting the car because there isn't anything close in walking distance. We drove the entire island and went to the outer islands close by, which were very quaint and a great side trip. You'll love staying here and enjoying the peace and quiet with really only 1 neighbor in viewing distance.

Beautiful and WORTH IT

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I went back and forth on this and another property. Of course the other property was much cheaper, but after arriving at this beautiful place, we knew we'd made the right decision. I woke up every morning looking forward to seeing the fish below in the lagoon (and feeding them - whoops - they love pineapple scraps). We also saw a resident barracuda and a few turtles - amazing. My only regret was that we didn't snorkel it. Some things to know - there isn't any wifi, which we preferred...disconnect. The AC wasn't awesome, but it was perfectly fine for us. Phillip was great and didn't really bother us unless we needed him. There were beautiful flowers in the house when we arrived. Also, I loved reading all the journal entries and books from the previous travelers...if you want to know where to go and what to do, you should take some time to read these on the patio with some pineapple. Scott was very responsive and kind. This island was amazing and the people were beyond friendly. I will say bring some cash and expect to spend it. The food and other things are pricey, but totally worth it. Oh, and before I forget - we rented Scott's car. I would definitely recommend doing that instead of renting on the island.

True R&R Vacation

  • 5 of 5

If you can't wait to get away from the business of your phone, WiFi and even TV - this is the place for you! What an amazing experience. We truly had an uninterrupted vacation - we only saw other humans when we wanted to! The cottage had everything we needed - and more. The water was beautiful with lots of sea life right at your doorstep. We spent most of our time just enjoying the view and the weather on the seafront porch.

You are a stone's throw from restaurants and beaches. We arrived on Good Friday - so liquor stores were closed. Thanks Scott for the tip on bringing some of our own snacks from home - we tucked some wine into our bags as well :). The restaurants have a great selection - but groceries are limited in staples and we opted to stop in at a little stall for our produce and eggs. Take the day trip out to Harbour Island! Well worth the $5 taxi ride.

The beaches were beautiful and secluded. We rarely saw more than a handful of people on the beach. The sand bars went on forever!

We will definitely be back! Thank you, Scott, for sharing your special place with us. It was exactly what we needed!

Secluded Island getaway

  • 5 of 5

Anyone and everyone with a love for uninterrupted quiet tranquility will love this home. There are zero modern-day distractions taking away from the incredible beauty that is Bahama Sunset. The views of the Caribbean and the sunsets were truly perfect. The cove below was like swimming in your own private aquarium / pool. There were hundreds of fish (Tangs, Angels, Parrot, Grouper, Baracuda, etc, Rays, Turtles, and a Stoney Lobster) and small, kid-friendly crustaceans all over the reef that had formed on the rock boulders. In fact, for the guests who enjoy snorkeling, don't drive anywhere, start here first provided there is a northern wind; you won't regret it. The rock formations north up the coast offer some incredible dive opportunities between some rare seascapes so close to "home".

The home owner has books and guides for the adventurers and it was also nicely furnished for being such a remote destination - Bravo and thank you Scott!

The township just north was full of super friendly people and incredible shops; food, groceries, wifi (if needed) and even scan disk cards for the GoPro were literally 10 minutes away. The restaurants were very small town but also very good - fresh seafood and fixins were right down the road.

If you're even considering a trip like this, look no further.

Thank you Scott, I will be back and will stay even longer!

Great Place to Stay for an Adventurous Couple Looking for the Simple Beach Life!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from a week long stay at Bahama Sunset. The property is really stunning. The house is exactly what you see in the photos if not better! Very clean and cozy but with a big bathroom. The caretaker Philip works hard to make sure everything is clean for you. He even brought in tropical flowers to decorate the house! If he has time, ask Philip to take you to his pineapple farm. It's amazing to see how they are grown!

As for the lagoon... STUNNING! Our favorite thing to do at the house was to stare at the water. We could have done that for hours. The lagoon had the best snorkeling we found on the island. From the deck/stairs/water we saw: One sea turtle, a yellow seahorse, jellyfish, a parrot fish, trumpet fish, and these cute little yellow and black striped fish, and stingrays.

I'm going to list some of our favorite things to do in the review because I found it very helpful to read others...

Main thing to remember is everyone is really friendly, tourist and locals alike. If you don't like interacting with other people on vacation you probably won't like Eleuthera.

Favorite beaches: Gaulding Cay Beach (very close to the house and good food at Daddy Joe's across the street), Between the Rocks beach (very desolate and good snorkeling), and the beach at Tippy's.

Favorite places to eat/drink: The Rainbow Inn for a nice dinner(Monday night is hoppin'. That's where we met other tourist who told us things we MUST do on the island.), Unca Gene's- only went there for lunch but it seemed like a lot of people- and by a lot I mean 10 people- went there for drinks at night, Daddy Joe's- conch burger is amazing!, LeoRose Sunset Beach Bar in the town James Cistern- newer bar on the beach. Vacation-y feel. Rib night on Tuesday with live band and happy hour on Thursday with live band. Local spot with very friendly Bahamians. BEST stone crab claws. The Cove- had sunset drinks with friends we met and then a lovely dinner. Nice to be at a fancy restaurant after a week of beach bars! They cooked the fish we caught that day to perfection (We fished with Captain James in Current earlier that day).

Don't forget to bring: A bar of soap- house does not provide, GOOD snorkel gear (we bought cheap stuff and suffered for it), enough money to last you at least a couple of days, a rental car. You can buy groceries by either airport. House has everything else including a book listing all the best beaches!

Rent this house. You won't regret it!
