We have an artist island house that is set up for couples or friends to enjoy dramatic views of the sea. The changing colors on the cliffs and sea thorough out the day is beautiful. Water access to swim and snorkel via stairs to the sea . This is fine place to tune into the island pace and get back to a simpler way of life. Enjoy discovering the warm Bahamian culture and also the creative surfer / artist community in the area. The house has an open space plan. The living area opens up to large deck as a true indoor outdoor living space. Tall shutter doors can be opened up or shut down to control wind flow through house . The kitchen, dinning, living and sleeping areas all have views of the sea. The bedroom has a queen sized bed and guest closet . The loft has 2 twin /single beds which be put together or separated There is 1 spacious bathroom with cistern soft rain water with hot and cold shower with views to the sea. It is a nice spot for Lovers.

About Daniel Caldwell
I am Daniel Caldwell an artist paintings in oils. The Bahamas has been a wonderful muse for my work for over 25 years now. I have built this home as part of the inspiration for my work. I also paint there and share time with my wife Liz our 3 kids William,Lizzie, and Chris . We all and love Eleuthera, the island life and to surf, sail ,dive ,and fish.
Daniel Caldwell purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Daniel Caldwell chose Central Eleuthera
Eleuthera is rich in art history.... American Master Winslow Homer painted here 100 years ago and many wonderful artist have followed suit. The island ,offers pristine natural beauty ,laid back and friendly Bahamian culture as well as a new twist ...the surfer / artist culture which evolved in Gregory Town over the last 50 years. This culture keeps great vibe going for those who get it. I will admit it's not for everyone....I've grown to love it and pinch myself to be part of this season in the islands history.
What makes this Cottage unique
Remote quite , minimal simpler way of life , pristine beauty, fun surf on occasion. Plenty of social life or not.

Good but not great
The cottage is beautiful but some basic items would have improved our experience: patio furniture, beach gear (chairs, ice packs) and kitchen items ex: a big salad bowl. It felt a bit like camping.
Thank you for your helpful input we will bring over a big salad bowl.thank you for choosing to stay with us. It is designed to be a naturalist experience. I will look into bringing over some beach chairs as well
Bahamas Sea Cliff Cottage 2.0
We just completed our second visit to Bahamas Sea Cliff Cottage and loved it as much the second time. We stayed a full week (5 days on our first stay two years ago) and felt very comfortable there. The beautiful morning views, sunsets & star-gazing from the deck, showers (inside & out), access to the water and location on the island are all highlights of this great property. Also, Daniel has added wifi since our last visit which was really nice. We will definitely be back!
I gave a glowing review after our last stay and all of the great things I said are still true. This time, I thought I would provide a few practical things you should know that may help your stay here: 1) Bring your own small first aid kit because there is not one in the cottage (we had a jelly fish sting incident and had to run to 7 to 11 for basic meds), 2) The coffee pot uses #4 cone filters and I didn’t see any at the stores near the house (the screen filter in the coffee maker is separating from the frame), 3) If you like to use wash cloths, bring your own, 4) If you prefer to sit in beach chairs at the beach, bring your own (I packed two umbrella-type, folding ones and an beach umbrella in a golf travel bag with no problems), 5) Venture south in a 4WD because there is a lot to explore on this island and some of it is not easily accessible and 6) Driving at night is hazardous due to very dark roads and very fast drivers who don’t use their dimmers (follow Daniel’s advice and hire a driver for late dinners).
We can’t wait to come back!
Beautiful view! Great accommodations.
Beautiful Sea Cliff Cottage. Privacy and views are unmatched.
A beautiful slice of paradise
My spouse and I stayed at Sea Cliff Cottage from Feb 1-6. Eleuthera is an exceptionally beautiful place and Sea Cliff Cottage compliments its surroundings perfectly. This is the place to go if you want to unplug from the daily grind and truly relax. Wonderful things to do, see and eat without the hustle of larger destinations. A couple things we figured out:
1)You need a car. We enjoy walking/biking, so we thought we'd just rent a car for 2 of our 6 days. Bad idea. Robert Taylor (next to Daddy Joe's) helped us out with a Jeep for 5 days so we could see the whole island. You really do need a vehicle with good ground clearance to get to some of the best spots.
2)Harbor Island is nice if you're in the mood for a nicer meal or want to do some shopping, but it's much more crowded than the main island. If you're taking an island getaway vacation, why not have an entire pristine beach to yourself? On the main island, you'll be the only one almost every place you go (at least in early Feb)
3) If you're not sure about the ladder down to the water, wait 'til high tide and there will be a couple rungs in the water. It might swing a little, but it's not going anywhere.
We had a couple small hiccups with our trip, but this place is so great we didn't even care. Can't wait to go back!
Tranquil, beautiful, relaxing, comfortable.
I’ve already written a lot in the guestbook about this, but we are just back from our first trip to Eleuthera and couldn’t have been happier with this wonderful home. It’s not for everyone. No glitz, no glamour. But if you appreciate seclusion, nature and beauty while not being way off the beaten path this is it. Some houses just work, and this is one of them. Everywhere you turn, there is a thoughtful touch and everything is just where it ought to be. The bathroom isn’t huge but open the shutter in the nicely-tiled walk-in shower and the room suddenly stretches to the horizon. There is even hot water in the outdoor shower. And everywhere hot water is there when you turn the faucet — no waiting for a tank, because it’s instant hot water. That’s a lot better than home. The huge deck is luxurious — actually kind of an infinity deck as the sea seems to spread from it. (I would not bring small kids here due to the big drop off from the deck to the sea down the cliffs.) Throughout, things just...work. The floor feels great in bare feet. The kitchen counter is gorgeous. The rattan furniture is lovely, practical and comfortable. The four deck loungers are heaven. Finally, the entire home has an artistic aesthetic that is enhanced by Dan’s paintings. Not everyone would agree, but we found it to be the perfect, traditional Bahamian cottage. Suggestions: Do rent a car. Don’t take it where you shouldn’t. Don’t listen to everyone’s “best of” when it comes to beaches and restaurants. Explore and find what you like from the many varied offerings. Do talk to the wonderful people of Eleuthera. We have been to many, many islands throughout the Caribbean, and we have never encountered such generous, warm people. They also share a terrific sense of humor, with a keen ear for irony and plenty of self-deprecation. To summarize: We loved it and would return in a heartbeat.
Amazing Cottage, close enough to town for convenience and far enough away for privacy.
Stayed there for 4 nights on our honeymoon in Dec of 2017 and had an amazing time. When you check into this place you're going to start cancelling day trips you had planned just so you can spend more time on the amazing deck overlooking the water.
The cottage is less secluded than we initially thought from the pictures online, you can see at least 2 other homes from the outside balcony. Additionally there was some construction work at one of the nearby homes, so lots of banging on metal/concrete. The workshop behind the cottage was being used for cutting tile so that made a lot of noise for us during the daytime.
Absolutely loved being able to cook our own meals, and the cottage has everything you need to make an amazing meal. As promised, we were able to get some fresh crab claws from local fishermen and had some amazing meals to ourselves while there. Given the price of going out to eat in the Bahamas... I can't recommend that enough.
Make sure to make a day-trip to Harbour Island even if it does mean dragging yourself away from the beautiful ocean view for a while.
We saw Sea Turtles swimming below us on at least two occasions, can't wait to go back!

Bahamas Sea Cliff Cottage is my artist island home built in Bahamian vernacular style similar to Loyalist Cottages built by boat builders 200 years ago. We have a large deck to enjoy beautiful views of rugged tall cliffs with a million shades of blue Bahamian waters that are in dynamic change throughout the day. Enjoy the sea birds and rich marine life below. The island has much to discover both culturally and in its pristine natural beauty. The views from our home are the best....each day brings dynamic changing, light, wind and tide on the Exuma Sound. There are truly amazing sunsets. The house is brand new with simple elegant island inspired decor. Some of my Daniel Caldwell isalnd paintings are featured. You can bicycle, walk, or go by car to local beaches to surf , snorkel or collect shells and sea glass which is a local favorite . Engage in the friendly Bahamian community which is great fun. Relax and unplug from busy world. If you like to read, write , sketch, or paint watercolors..... its a fine spot for this. There are several local style restaraunts and grocery stores near by. There is live music nightly at different venues up and down the island. Find out who is hosting the live music when you arrive. You can rent surfboards or Kyaks, or go fish with a local guide. Several places in Gregory town provide this. In Gregory town check in with local fish dock in town for fresh fish , lobster stone crabs or conch.
