Town: An 18-mile-long stone spit called Chesil Beach connects Portland Bill, a short cape at the tip of the rough Isle of Portland peninsula, to the mainland. Portland Bill is home to three lighthouses, the most recent of which, the 35-meter-tall, white and red-striped Portland Bill Lighthouse, was completed in 1906. Portland Bill is located on Dorset's breathtaking Jurassic Coast, which is now a World Heritage Site. In addition to the Portland Bird Observatory, Portland Bill also has a bar and a restaurant/café. The breathtaking seaside landscape, pathways, and nearby terrain, which was formerly used for quarrying, make for excellent walking, and the area is well recognised for being a birdwatcher's paradise!
