Overview

About the property

This property is located on 17 beautiful wooded acres next to Douglas Lake. It is owned by Mountain Lake Ranch, which has other buildings including a huge log cabin lodge with 8 bedrooms that sleeps up to 64, a Main Lodge with 16 rooms that sleeps up to 64, and a large bunkhouse with 1 large room that sleeps up to 18. These venues are perfect for church groups & retreats, family reunions, anniversaries, birthday parties, etc.

This "Red Top" cabin, so called because of it's bright red roof is located in our quiet, picturesque campground with a pretty green landscape. It is a one room cabin plus full bathroom with tub/shower, and has a queen size bed as well as a full size hide-a-bed. There is also a crawl-in loft with a futon mattress there and the loft is large enough for a couple children but not recommended for small ones. It is accessible by a ladder. The living area features a full size refrigerator, full size gas stove and oven as well as a microwave/convection oven. There is a TV but no cable as yet. It is recommended that our guests bring DVDs for the player provided in order to watch TV. The cabin is air conditioned.

About Betty

Tom and Betty moved from Florida to East Tennessee looking for a centralized place for a Retreat Center. Our hearts were with churches who wanted to take their youth, couples, families away to a quiet place for R&R and to minister to their groups. Our great location close to interstates and close to the fun activities just down the road from the ranch. We have enjoyed raising three sons here at the ranch and they have been such a big part of this family enterprise. Our youngest son, David, was killed on his motorcycle in 2013 but Daniel and Tim are still very much a part of keeping things going here at the ranch. Now we watch our grandchildren growing up here. What a blessing that is!

Betty purchased this cabin in 1985

Why Betty chose Dandridge

This property caught our eye and our hearts because of the convenience for travelers no matter which direction they were coming from. I- 40 is just 2 miles, I-75 only about 20 and we are easily accessible for two thirds of the United States in only a day's drive. Our lake access adds possibilities for our guests as well as our fishing pond and natural beauty of the area.

What makes this cabin unique

Our guests tell us that their favorite thing about Mountain Lake Ranch is that it is a quiet, peaceful place to come home to after a busy day enjoying the many possibilities that the area offers including Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains.

Very Nice!

  • 5 of 5

My 15 year old Son and I visited the area for a golf trip. This cabin was perfect for us and it was really nice to be able to have the amenities where we could go to the grocery store and prepare our own meals. That saves a bunch, rather than the alternative of going to a restaurant every day for every meal. The cabin is as clean as it looks and is as nice as it looks in the pictures. The owner was very easy to work with and made the process of booking and checking in and out simple. The area is very central, especially in terms of a golf trip. We were very pleased with our stay here and would definitely book here again if we were to return. You will not be disappointed with the accommodations and the TV actually was hooked up to an exterior aerial and gets several channels. We were happy to be able to watch the Masters, after playing golf, on Saturday. Excellent place for rental with a good price!

Great value and location for a quiet weekend.

  • 5 of 5

Great stay for a weekend trip (or longer!) Very friendly on the wallet. Super clean and just the right size. Would recommend bringing a grill. Much nicer than any hotel for the price! Plenty of space for my family of three to be comfortable. Not directly in town, but close enough to make a day trip Pigeon Forge no problem. Definitely making plans to stay again.

Beautiful, quiet, romantic!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I drove over (we are local to Kodak) to get away from our 5 kids for our anniversary for two days. It was so nice. No cable or wifi was really right up our alley. It allowed us to really spend quality time together without all the interruptions from our normal daily life. My only suggestion would be for the owner to invest in some type of skillet for cooking. Our plan was to eat breakfast at the cabin and then have lunch and dinner out, but there wasn't any way to fry eggs. They do have saucepans, but none are appropriate for that. Overall, it was an amazing experience. Also, where it says "refundable deposit," that is true. The owner processed our refund just a day or so after we left!
