About Lora and Leonard Keaveny

We are a family of 4, plus two dogs. We live in Fayetteville and love all the area has to offer with all the outdoor activities. I am a physician and my husband is a teacher , we have two children. We originally lived in the house on the property of this apartment for 3 years and loved living in Oak Hill but soon outgrew the house. We have rented in the past for long term use but as tenants come and go they don't take the best care of your property. 2017 we decided to change the property into vacation rentals, its a great location and know that our property will be taken care of.

Lora and Leonard Keaveny purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Lora and Leonard Keaveny chose Oak Hill

What makes this apartment unique

It was the perfect size for the three of us.

The bed was comfortable and the sheets were soft. It certainly had more character than your average hotel.

Cute apartment

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 stayed here while visiting the ACE adventure park. The apartment has everything you need to enjoy yourself on vacation- we especially liked the little deck and the outdoor seating available on the ground level. Lora was great to work with and got back to me quickly, and even left us some food to welcome us. We enjoyed the pizza at pies and pints nearby, and LOVED the adventures at ACE- wonderful family adventure!

The apartment was clean and cozy. It was also so close to so many area attractions. Lora was wonderful and even left Happy Birthday cupcakes for my friend. We enjoyed our stay here very much.

The cottage is very cozy and charming.

  • 4 of 5

The house smells great and is decorated with a unique hip cottage charm. This is a great location to explore the gorgeous hiking trails through the National Park. We spent two nights with one full day of hiking several trails. The trails have crazy scenic overlooks that bring numerous climbers to the area. This cottage has a great relaxing vibe and is well worth a few day stay to explore all the trails. The back porch has a few cozy chairs with lights and a grill. The owners were awesome and have the house stocked with essentials like coffee, breakfast items, and the kitchen has great pans for cooking up a meal. I recommend the restaurant the Secret Sandwhich Society for a craft beer and their homemade deserts, or a live band, The cottage owners were very receptive to all our requests and were quick to take of the neighbors howling dog for us too:)

Character, Charm and Comfort

  • 5 of 5

We simply loved how the owners finished this elevated cottage. It's got loads of character and if you love old houses, you'll probably enjoy it here. We sure did! The beds are comfortable, even the bottom futon mattress which is a real innerspring. The top bunk is shaky and hard to climb for this adult, but sturdy and comfy once up. I'm not sure of the weight limit: I'm 118 and the frame moved markedly but held. We had a problem with the wifi and the owners were immediately responsive, calling the cable company and then coming over to help us. Turned out we thought PW (stands for password) was part of the pass. Owners were quite gracious about the misunderstanding.

The eat-in kitchen is simply but fully stocked and it's so lovely to be able to have meals in while on vacation. The owners thoughtfully left milk, creamer, oj, butter and margarine, eggs, popcorn, salsa, chips, tea and coffee for us. How nice! The bathroom has large fluffy towels and is stocked with better quality toiletries and plenty of TP. There are baseboard and portable electric heaters which kept us quite comfortable in the chilly late October weather. There is a flight of stairs to get in but they're shallow and easy to manage. You'll have a small fenced in yard with a firepit and chairs to enjoy, plus a small porch. Although we heard street noise during the day, the town gets very quiet at night and we slept well. A few cafes and shops are within an easy walk.

TIPS: It's hard to see from the road so look for the dark gray cottage right across the street from the large white apartment complex (Twin Oaks Plaza): the driveway will be between the house and a tall cinder block building. Apartment at the end of the drive and through the gate.

The sidewalk from the parking area to the stairs is uneven and dark at night so bring a flashlight and be careful after dark.

There are darkening curtains in the BR/LR but a lot of light comes in the other windows at night so if you need total darkness, bring a sleeping mask.

There are a number of plug-in and other fragrance devices so tell the owner ahead of time if you are chemically sensitive or else remove them from each room as soon as you get there and open a window.

We really enjoyed it here and would recommend without hesitation!

The apartment is 5 miles from ACE adventures, 5 miles from Fayetteville, and 10 miles from New River Gorge Bridge. The town of Oak Hill is set on a plateau with beautiful mountain surroundings. The town is small but it has a message salon, outdoor theater, local restaurants and cafes, and a few fast food restaurants.
