Montlake is a unique mountain lake formed millions of years ago. It is one of the very few natural lakes in Tennessee. Our Montlake retreat is a very spacious home with about 20 acres of wooded grounds. There are trails around the lake, and there is a waterfall directly across the lake from the terrace.
Montlake has four bedrooms, four baths, living room, library, great room/dining room, kitchen, and laundry room. There are two fireplaces (library and great room) and a large deck above the terrace. It is a long, rambling house, so there is plenty of privacy for everyone. The master bath has a jetted tub and separate shower, as well as a large walk-in closet and a bidet. The other three baths have tub-showers. The laundry room has large capacity (front-loading) washer and dryer.
The views at Montlake are breathtaking.
Here's what our guests have to say:
'Our stay at Montlake was GREAT!!! Your home was so beautiful and comfortable. There was plenty of room for everyone (we had 9 in our group) to relax and do their own thing. The lake was breathtaking, we hiked around the lake, grilled, and enjoyed the sites. The waterfall was beautiful, it had just rained and it was falling very heavily. The location of your home was also great we were just abbout 20-25 minutes to all attractions, Rock City, Ruby Falls and Chattanooga Railroad Station. Thank you for letting us come to your lovely home. I highly recommend this home to anyone. Hope to stay again next year.' --Carol I.
'We have been recommending your house to friends and family!' --Fabienne V.
'Thank you for the use of your lovely home! We had a relaxed, companiable weekend with our friends. Oh--and the view of the lake is breathtaking! Thank you again; you have a lovely, lovely home.
--Linda and John D.

Great place for a quiet retreat
We left Atlanta for a weekend in the hills, wanting to take in the Thomas the Train event at the TN Valley Railroad Museum. Yes, we brought toddlers. We had 6 adults sleeping comfortably, with a room to spare where the toddlers slept in our portable cribs. The home was comfortable and quiet. There's a great library selection of children's and more modern books. Take a book out on to the massive back patio, where we enjoyed a fire pit and the sounds of the nearby waterfall. The view from the patio over the lake is lovely - watch the kids, though, it's a steep drop if they get around the railings. The kitchen was outfitted well enough for us to make several meals. Mariela is just next door, should you need anything, which I found very reassuring. From the home into Chattanooga proper is not too far, but it's down a windy road that you'll want to do in the daylight.
Roomy, very comfortable and well equipped.
We had some very relaxing time on the patio soaking up the sun and several pleasant evenings playing games on the large dining room table.
Great place to rest and enjoy family time
We loved Mariela's place! A very nice large home with and amazing view. We appreciated how quiet and peaceful this house was and felt very comfortable here.
Great place !
A great place to stay for any group ! Everything to ever need and nice quiet location with great scenery ! Would highly recommend
Wonderful Escape with Family
We really enjoyed Mariela's home. The view from the backyard is breathtaking, photos don't do it justice! We enjoyed the walking path around the lake, an evening fire outdoors, and the large dining table for family meals. Our dog, Olive, felt right at home and loved the big wooded yard with plenty of sticks for fetching. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to unplug and enjoy the company of friends and family.
We rented the house for a basketball tournament that was nearby for our team of boys and coaches for the week. It was secluded to where we could meet and bond together as a team. The scenery was awesome around the house and the walking trails were good for the boys to go out on. There was plenty of room for every one.
The folks were perfect to work with and helped out in any way needed.
